So, apparently we are still at the Singari Wagons. Which I guess makes sense since the last chapter was about our pets. This chapter, we have five riddles to solve. We only need to solve THREE of the five to get through. DON'T PANIC.
There is NO rp involved in this chapter, but it Is due July 29th at 11:59 pm Subeta time.
I also took the liberty of BOLDING the actual riddles.
GR's Riddles
<p>Part One</p>
<p>Irella meets your companions in the center of the maze. She is smiling at their triumph.</p>
<p>"I see you prove worthy partners. Shall we return now? Yes, I think so."</p>
<p>There is a whirl of multi-colored skirts, the sound of bells on the hem tinkling merrily, and your companions find themselves back inside the Singari wagon with you. (It really IS bigger on the inside. So strange!)</p>
<p>Despite the spacious room, it&;s an uncomfortable gathering. Lysandra refuses to sit near Clytie, sneering about hating faeries, but still wants to keep a proximity to Junu, Madi makes faces at Larianne whenever she thinks she can get away with it, and you are fascinated by the crystal ball and ticking clock without a face-glass sitting on the table in front of Irella.</p>
<p>The Singari woman speaks. "Now that you and your companions have an understanding of the wisdom of the Voices, I believe the gears of time will show us the key to our difficulties and where we should go next."</p>
<p>She waves a hand over the clock, and it speaks:
"The Gears shall help you, but only if you prove yourself wise. We shall pose to you five riddles, at least three of which you must answer correctly. You will have only one chance on each. Only then shall the crystal reveal its truth."</p>
<p>The ball remains dark, swirling with murky vapors, and the clock begins in a voice that sounds like its own:</p>
<p>"Riddle One: As you can see, I have no glass. Right now, my hands say it is 6 o&;clock and ticking. But how nice it would be for my hands to show midnight. One touch on the hands will advance me one hour. What is the minimum number of times you&;d have to touch me so I could have what I desire?"</p>
<p>Another voice, female and teasing, chimes in next. "Riddle Two: My clothing&;s soft as velvet dear, though under earth my dwellings lie, and when above it I appear. my enemies do me decry. The gardener&;s hate for me is fine. I spoil his works as he does mine. What am I?"</p>
<p>The third voice cuts in, sharp as a blade: "Riddle Three: In the land of the dead, there is a tomb of family of a long gone king. In it lie two husbands with their two wives, two fathers with their two daughters, two grandmothers with their two granddaughters, two mothers with their two sons, two sisters with their two brothers, and two girls with their two mothers. Yet just six names are carved on the tombstone, one for each inhabitant within, but how is this possible?"</p>
<p>As the fourth speaks, you sense an elegance and a sense of familiarity with material trappings. An image of a sign appears on the dark wooden side wall of the wagon. It shows "ARMA" in white block letters with a blank speace at the front.</p>
<p>"Obviously, the sign should appropriately read &;Karma,&; says the rich voice, but the &;K&; has gone missing, and the damage disturbs me. Riddle Four: So, if I give you the pieces below with a working space, can you construct a proper &;K&; for me? You may twist and turn the pieces as you desire.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>The last voice is warm and pulls you in. It could be male of female, but regardless, it resonates inside you in its own unique way. It is simply the voice you have always wanted to hear.</p>
<p>"Ah. these lovers of Riddle Five: So happy they are, with such a sense of forever. Their ages both use the same numbers, but reversed, and the difference between them is but an eleventh of their combined total. Age does not matter or the passing of time to them, but only the true feeling they have for each other. But tell me, nonetheless, what are the two ages of this couple?"</p>
<p>"Remember," the clock ticks out, "you only need three to clear the fog. Perhaps a small reward could be given for all five, but three suffice."</p>
<p>(OOC: Your team must solve three of the above riddles. You do NOT need to roleplay, just send me your answers by smail on or before July 29th at 11:59 p.m. Subeta time. Questions and comments on the OOC thread for this chapter.)</p>

Grave thoughts...
Wait, hold on....your on to something.....And my sister pointed something out too. Age is not a restriction. So......Two separate, yet together families. Er......Two Mothers with Two Sons. We&;ll say Gm1 (grandma), Gm2, S1 (Son), S2.
S1 is son to Gm1, S2 is son to Gm2.
Now, if Gm1 marries S2 and vise versa you get:
-two husbands with their two wives
-two mothers with their two sons</p>
<p>Now, if each had two daughters, you also get:
-two grandmothers with their two granddaughters
while
-two girls with their two mothers</p>
<p>and the Sons are now:
-two fathers with their two daughters
-two sisters with their two brothers</p>
<p>I think that&;s right, right? I&;ve got 6 sheets of paper with scribbles all over them trying to wrap my head around this. Remember that one comment I made about if the 2 males were in the middle.....My sister mistook that one scribbles, which brought an epiphany.</p>

Riddle Two I thought rabbit at first, but I found a list of burrowing animals. It may seem kid-like, but it could be rabbit, mole, prairie dog (at least in this part of country...). Which one had fur like velvet? :/ And messes up farmer's work? http://www.enchantedlearning.com/coloring/Underground.shtml

That's what we have. Sorry if I missed anything. [/spoiler]
Also, we may not need to, but if we can figure out some of these riddles quick enough it could be fun to rp anyway. :)
Let's get this started everyone! ^_^
I don't know if I'll have time to do any bonus RPs... but I think I might be on to something with the K puzzle. Maybe I've solved it? I'm not entirely sure. I think I've got the right theory but it might need to be played with a little... I considered using the tile on the right and using that for the left line of the K...
"K" Me Maybe
I've been trying to figure out Riddle 3 most of the night and I can't seem to get any situation to line up. All my logics keep failing when it come to the "two grandmothers with their two granddaughters" part.
Here are some ideas in case someone can brainstorm with me. Father can refer to: Father, Grandfather, and Step Father /In-Law. Same can be applied for Mother, Daughter, and Son.
What keeps getting me is that there is only one way to have "two grandmothers with their two granddaughters" So there has to be at the least, 2 elderly woman and 2 young girls. Plus, there has to be 2 males that have to be Husbands, Sons, and Brothers and Fathers.. 3 can be accomplished by marrying the 2 girls. They'd be brother's in law, grand sons, and husbands, but can't be fathers. Reverse wise, married to the elderly woman would make them grandfathers and brothers in-law, and husbands, but not sons. Putting them between everyone in the family tree would cut out husbands... Flah. I've even tried scenarios with great grandparents and that doesn't seem to work...
Also , that's another Professor Layton puzzle (GreenWrowan seems to love these) I've seen it before, but I can't remember which of his games. There are so many now..... I'm almost certain your on the right track, knowing those games.
Trying to catch up the last 5 years
:) That's pretty much what I guessed, so I think we might have it unless someone else can figure a different way to do it.
X'D I know! I was actually on when she made the post and was trying to figure it in my sleep deprived state. Tried again today, and I'm running into similar issues. I Was thinking maybe two sisters married two brothers, and there's either one grandmother above them, or a daughter beneath them; and what if one woman (grandmother) had a daughter that married a man, then the first lady had another daughter that married the man's brother? X'D Aaaah! I don't know!! But it sounds like a really complicated family tree!
I also think riddle two might be a rabbit, but there might be other little critters this could apply to. Rabbit just kinda stuck in my mind. :)
Wait, hold on....your on to something.....And my sister pointed something out too. Age is not a restriction. So......Two separate, yet together families. Er......Two Mothers with Two Sons. Trying to catch up the last 5 years
Number 5 answer is 54 and 45.
54 + 45 = 99 the difference between the two is 9 9/99 is 1/11
That's probably why we kept missing it in the first place. We were trying to think of normal families XD
Trying to catch up the last 5 years
Thanks! I think the families how y'all described them totally makes sense. I like the K also. I'm going to work on the others a little more. I think we should be able to get all 5.
For Riddle 1, do we even need to touch the clock? It says its ticking on its own, "my hands say it is 6 o'clock and ticking" So it will eventually reach midnight without our help, right?
Also. does "I have no glass" have any importance here?
Edit: If its ticking, my guess if 5, because if you go 6 while its ticking, the second will pass by, so, 5 and let it catch up?
Either I'm reading too much into certain phrases, or not paying attention to the right ones....
Trying to catch up the last 5 years
I was on the same wavelength as you are with the clock. I think it could be 0. Or it could be 5. I'm not sure. That's tricky.
This is a quote of what I have in the first post drop-down of answers. I'm turning in what we have so far to GreenRowan. If you don't mind, I'll take blame if we're wrong and go with '0' for riddle one. Flipping a coin between rabbit or mole for riddle two (prairie dog doesn't really have velvet fur..). I'm fairly certain we are right about the other three, and that's all we needed anyway. See you all in the morning. Well, later morning..

I've also submitted the above, though regrettably late, but it has been sent. Hopefully GreenRowan accepts it from one or the other of us. With the rabbit or mole thing, I submitted as rabbit (Velveteen Rabbit anyone?), though moles are also often described as velvety, and can also be a major problem for gardeners. I actually once had one run right into me while I was weeding a garden... But I also said that skydreamer had submitted for us, and if she had a different answer, I asked that GreenRowan take her answer over mine.
I'm sorry guys... I feel like I just keep winding up messing things up for you guys, and I'm a dreadful team captain... I am officially back at home now, and was yesterday as well. My husband and I got home and absolutely crashed early Friday night, and then basically slept through Saturday. We are trying to get back on schedule as of now, so I can't imagine I'll continue to be dreadful... So anyway, that is the current situation.

^_^" Ack! You actually got it in before I did, according to that post above. I was trying to clear up GA's answer (don't give me that look GA! It was confusing even if you looked at it right. ) and took too long typing. I did say rabbit. That was my first guess (and what the dang quarter told me after 7 different flips. Trust the coin, dude. :P
Honestly, I was a little frustrated. BUT don't feel bad for taking care of your family OR your health! Real life comes First. Always. It's nice to give people a little heads up, but we all understand that's hard to do when your brain is dead tired and your body says 'enough'.
my thought process took a weird turn, but bear with me It's like this, some people get on sites like this and expect other players to be on when they are no matter what. As if they are NPCs. Forgetting that, in fact, every one of them is a real person, with a real life, and real issues to deal with that are more important than a game. This is for Fun. To distract from the real world (for some), not to become the world. I hope that all made sense. It's after two thirty AM here and my brain is fuzzy. Or maybe clearer.
Either way, I hope the team comes together to rock n' roll this squirrel's tale. :P Peace!
.....zzzzzzzz........zonked out now.......=_=zzzzzzzzzzzzz......
Edit: Don't worry about the times these posts were posted. It just took me a while to actually wrap my head around what I just wrote. I got it in, like almost thirty minutes ago...zzzz.....
At any rate, we've been doing really well, and we have answers for all of them, so I think we're okay, evern if they're not all perfectly clear, or correct, and even if they're a bit late... :/ Fingers crossed!
And yeah, you guys have been doing great, so hopefully we'll rock the next one!

I'm sorry I wasn't on in time for the end of this one. Hopefully my K was correct. ^^ Looks like we've got them posted? c: reading some of these really made my head hurt... like that one with all the relatives!
I think you've been an absolutely amazing captain. Especially when you didn't originally sign up to be one. Real life comes first and you can't help it if it takes up your time, and a big trip would especially make it difficult to find time for a virtual pet site. ;) I'm a little worried about our co-captain, though... Haven't seen them here for a while and I don't know if I should be poking them, or..? I think I've seen more of our reluctants this event but they seem to have a lot going on...
has been doing an astounding job filling in for the both of you while you've been busy. ^^
