Eva thought long and hard about what she wanted to write about, poems and such things like that are not my strong point, she thought sullenly to herself -- despite that, she got out her quill and quickly decided she wanted to write her poem about her house mascot, the Wampus.
Evalyn Ridgewell, Ilvermorny
You better take flight,
For the Wampus hunts at night,
But you must not flee in terror,
Or you may make an error,
And then you life will be in the Wampus’ care forever!
Kyros was in a pinch, and he knew that. He loved reading, that's for sure, but writing was another matter entirely - he was much more visual in his artistic endeavors. Frowning slightly, the boy barely noticed how hard he was biting on the end of his quill, too busy trying to remember any kind of rhyme that didn't sound silly. His good memory, that he was so proud of, seemed to fail him at the moment. Does swamp rhymes with want? We want to... To win the Tournament?? This is too hard! I hope they ask me to paint Ilvermony's landscape next time, at least it won't be as pitiful as this!
The librarian announcing the last minutes for the lesson took the young man out of his fantasies, and he panicked. Oh no oh no oh no I won't finish it on time!!! Several apocalyptical scenarios crossed through his mind, where Hogwarts lost due to those points he hadn't earned for not being able to write a single line of a poem. As far fetched as they sounded, Kyros would never forgive himself if it actually happened. Revigorated by despair, he set down the quill on paper with so much strength he almost pierced through, writing as fast as he could the first coherent words that came to mind.
Kyros Riven, Hogwarts
A magical home
For those who have none
To accept all wizards
Without leaving anyone
Where you may find your friends
And foes and true love
For Hogwarts is the place
Where life comes above
Pain, hate or blood
And all said misery flood
I long to go back
Every time I am gone
For Hogwarts is my home
And where I truly belong.
And it was done. With a sigh, he handed the paper over the Finn, trying to push back his own mortification at what he was sure to be a sloppy job. Well. That was awful. He really hoped that nobody else would read that. He felt bad even looking Finn in the eye now.

When the assignment was given, Bran sat there a few minutes in thought. It wasn’t that he didn’t like writing assignment or couldn’t do them; it was the fact that writing didn’t come as natural to him as climbing trees or clambering over rocks. Still when he did write it wasn’t half bad, at least not to him. He took out his quill and idly rubbed the feather over his chin as he gazed out the window. What to write about? The power and majesty of the Thunderbird, symbol of his house? The lore of his school home? He wasn’t sure he had the right words to describe the first and should he decide on the second it would become an epic rather than a chant.
Glancing around, he noted a good many others, including his sister had already finished. Lynnie gave her brother a grin as she returned to her seat. No doubt she’d had a cunning rhyme to turn in, Bran thought to himself, feeling proud of her intelligence while at the same time a bit annoyed that she’d found the assignment so easy.
Turning his gaze to the parchment in front of him, his mind still a jumble of ideas, the youth decided that maybe his poem could be a bit like his thoughts, slightly jumbled and covering several thoughts that still blended with a sort of central theme. With that in mind, Bran got busy writing.
Brandon Calder ~ Ilvermorny ~ Thunderbird
High in the mountains, enshrouded in mist,
Stands a school for those whom magic has kissed.
Scholars, warriors, healers too, Adventurous hearts dressed in cranberry and blue.
Four houses with creatures represented on the seal, Supported by students full of vigor and zeal.
Ready to face trials as yet untold, Ready to forge friendships more precious than gold.
A new term, with a special tournament about to start, A chance for students to practice their arts.
Show our skill and pride in this quest for victory, And let all around remember – We Are Ilvermorny!
With a grin of his own at his attempt, Bran signed his name with a flourish and turned in his assignment.
This is a friendly reminder that this is the last chance to get this assignment in - it's almost midnight!!
