"Indeed. You either go full speed or you don't. I've tried Mushishi but couldn't get into it ... while it is in the same genre as Natsume. Weird."

: I am happy you gave Little Witch Academia another try though. It's adorable. <3 (I've seen the pilot Movie and was SO happy when it got a TV Series. (^o^) The movie is cute as well but has a different animation quality of course. I love everything with witches so I kinda "stumbled" over it.)Yeah, well Mushishi is on another page and even more "spheric". But the music is good. I checked your list and saw Kizna there, happy you watched it. Even though it's not for everyone as well. - How did you like it? :3

You barely can go wrong with studio Trigger but Kiznaiver is a garbage level to Little Witch Academia. Kizna? You mean Kiznaiver? Well if you look at my poor rating - you can kind of see that I didn't like it at all. (small rant + spoiler)

Poorly executed story, barely any logical storytelling, pushed unecessary drama, pushed romance, unnatural settings (as in things got rushed fast), undevelopped characters which affected the "plot", a plot but blink and you miss it. I could go on but seriously, aside from the nice OP and the vibrant colours, I have added this anime to my "garbage shelf".

From what I've seen, schools in animes are never right with their true establishment irl haha. It was a letdown but oh so true q__q! Even out of japanese real school, it has nothing to do with reality anyway while workplaces may be more ... accurate? Idk. I mean ... My first and last job was absolute crap and I couldn't find anyone that made me comfy. Re: Creators did not catch me but the music surely did! The premise looked absolutely amazinf (and the music too. will I shut up about it? nope) but unfortunately, I just couldn't go on. It's rather hard to find a good inbetween when it comes to action vs storyline (or plot) Mushishi is surely slow paced and I couldn't go past episode 1. I may give it a go later on but for now, it's not on my ptw list.

LWA is indeed popular. The rating is good and not as biased as I've seen from other series like SAO per instance. I do believe that the anime could separate different storylines such as Croix and Chariot (we've seen a bit and I crave for more) but also the founders, the teachers and of course, various storylines from the students. The possibilities are big and I'm hopeful!

I have so many half-finished animes that my girlfriend and I have been watching. We usually watch a lot of anime either in the summer or the fall, and we haven't watched any this summer, so I'm better this fall we will. I can't even remember at this point what all we were watching. I know we have some episodes left of Yuri on Ice and Blue Exorcist. We watched some of Full Metal Alchemist. I think there's a handful I can't remember at all, some romance-y ones that my girlfriend wanted me to watch, I wanted her to watch Dragonball with me. Uhm, hm.

This is a good reminder to pick some shows back up!

I suppose that’s true, they are quite exaggerated. Still, I feel like I saw around me some of the typical hijinks and socialization that would occur in anime, in real life… though, I guess the actual schooling wasn’t that relatable to me, haha. I can understand the letdown. I think it would have hit me way harder if I was watching anime during my earlier teens. I’m sorry your job was bad.. somehow it feels worse than school, doesn’t it? If it’s bad? I hope if you have a next job, it’s much better. It really should be like in anime! And TV shows in general, that don’t paint the workplace as terrible. I haven’t seen that many workplace anime myself.. I’ve heard of a few but there doesn’t seem to be that many… what other workplace setting anime have you seen? Any you’d recommend? Haha.. I never notice the music unless someone mentions it or I’m watching for the second time. But when I do I notice how much of an impact it makes. As I continue with Re:Creators I’ll try to notice the music more. I’m glad LWA is popular! (Urgh SAO.. although I might be too harsh on it, I always feel like it stole my time for most of it..). Now that you mention the teachers, it would be interesting to see some of their stories.

I haven't had a proper job in years. Aside from working freelance (writer mostly) and doing side jobs, I have nothing to base my opinion haha.

I'm not well-versed in this type but I can suggest a few at the top of my head (disclaimer: mostly didn't watch them) But now that I think about it, the only anime I'd suggest is Shirobako. I had another one but I forgot its title ... Honestly, music is probably my favourite things from anime. Like SAO is meh but the music can be good at the right time.

I've seriously been lagging behind on anime... I've been downloading some anime I wanted to watch, like Kekkai Sensen (looked really cool and in tune with my tastes) and imas cg.. (which is just kind of obligation at this point, I've heard it's terrible lol.. ugh). I've not kept up with the other seasonal anime I'm watching either. I guess I'm in a cycle where anime does not take place.. though I'm sure in the humdrum of everyday life I'll eventually feel compelled to watch more, hehe. If anyone's interested, I decided to share my MAL with the general crowd: click.

I get that, my one job is arguably a side job as well. I think freelance is plenty good as working in a company. The only difference is who you answer to, possibly that could be other co-workers or a boss.. but otherwise not different. Perhaps that's naive of me. I won't know until I enter a company, hehe. Well, I suppose the co-workers matter a bit... sometimes. I have heard of Shirobako, it's good to have an actual recommendation! The only others that I can think of is "Working!!" and "Devil is a part timer" (at least I think the last one is largely set in the workplace...?). I'll try to look further once I go back into an anime cycle. I can see that. Music isn't the thing for me, but one of my friends is super occupied with anime music. And have watched several series for it's music, including stuff like SAO. The type of music i enjoy is different from this type of epic, grand music of works like SAO and many others (Fate series has the same type of music). Though I can appreciate it, it's just not my style. But I def get watching something for one such aspect. I sometimes watch anime for it's style or colors.. like "jitsu wa watashi wa" which I was initially interested in solely for it's colors and style of drawing.

I was just about to suggest these haha. I've tried Working!! but ended up not liking it. As for The devil is a part-timer, it was an okay watch (7/10). Good comedy but nothing amazing either. The plot got lost somewhere. A lot of animes have mixed settings. Per instance, Kobayashi maid-sama is really good. We can see one of the main working hard and she has a nice colleague guy. But the setting is not like New Game! It's kind of hard to find a set setting. There was one that could have fit in this criteria ... but I cannot remember the title. It was a girl getting into an animation company but I cannot remember q___q;

Music can definitely give a vibe to an entire scene (or kill it as well). While I like OST from Re:Creator or Hero Academia, which are mostly very heavy with synth, deep battery and such, I also love lighter music such as the OST of Shigatsu was kimi no uso (your lie in april) or Charlotte. I also like funky music that we barely get to hear nowadays in the new industry. If I were to compare, the Cowboy Bebop OST would be similar to Kakegurui or Death Parade today. I'm glad some animes are going back to the source.

I love animes and manga with different types of drawing. If I were to reccomend something, I'd say Mononoke (2007) is one sick unique potato. The setting is haunting as hell and the animation/drawing is unique. It's slow paced tho (more than Natsume Yuujinchou or Mushishi) which made me give up. Each 2 episodes are setting a new "ayakashi" story. It's quite nice.

I was also able to finally watch the live action of Ghost in the Shell. It was a nice movie but I've not seen the anime adaptations nor read the manga. Therefore, my enjoyment is based on the movie only.

I've still not majorly gotten back into anime.. but I watched a few random episodes of shows. One of the episodes I actually enjoyed was one that of Akazukin Chacha.. I couldn't tell if it was a kid's show or not, but I was entertained at least. I sometimes do this, just watch randoms eps of whatever show and sometimes I find something I like.. and sometimes I watch like the last ep of something and spoil the entire thing for myself lol. But I am still not watching anime regularly.

I feel really bad for taking this long to respond. I'm sorry. I see, you did not like "Working!!". Do you know why? And I see for "The Devil is a Part-Timer", 7 is a decent score for me ^^ But yeah I can definitely see how the comedy pulls up the score, yet the move away from a realistic environment detracts.. all depends on what one wants, I suppose. Since there are very few workplace setting animes I'm not sure if I should just take what I can get or remain critical of what exists. Yes, I watched Dragon Maid myself and really enjoyed it :) I loved kobayashi, such a down to earth character... yet totally open to crazy changes in daily life. Yes, I think what we saw of the work environment was decent.. the boss was awful though iirc? x_x kind of a hardass? The only anime/manga animation/manga company I can remember is Bakuman, which I feel kind of bad about ^^" If you remember eventually please tell me :)

I rather agree with your assessment of contemporary music. Though I mostly end up noticing OP's and ED's. So far I have enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, and I enjoyed Death Parade. Kakegurui, I only skimmed through the first episode. Is it worth it to keep watching?

I will check out Mononke, I've looked it up slightly. I can't form an opinion on it since I didn't watch it. I do like anime that have a story arch per 2-3 eps, since I watched and and enjoyed Ghost Hunt.

I've also had my reprehensions about the new American live action movie. I heard somebody said beside the whitewashing, the movie was good. I don't know as I haven't watched it myself. I have my qualms against hollywood adaptations of foreign media... but if somebody I trust say it's good then there must be some merit in that. I want to watch the original GitS etc++. and compare it to the movie.. I feel like whether you like it or not will mostly matter if you watched one of the animes?. But, if the movie was enjoyable on it's own.. then it must be alright. I heard this from somebody else, that this movie was actually pretty alright if you look beyond the casting. I still dislike hollywood whitewashing characters in a movie, though I suppose I cannot deny other cinematical merits. I must see all for myself to truly pass judgement,

omg was your manga bought from univers.no? I feel like pretty much all they sold was rumiko takahashi stuff, beside the Death Note books I got. I checked their site a few months ago and they didn't even have a manga listing as far as I could tell. So sad. As the years have gone by, I've started to appreciate those norwegian-translated volumes for waht they are.. completely off the walls with no reason to exist! lol but it's sad that they are not officially translated anymore. It's more of a novelty than a necessity, but I still enjoy the though of owning the entirety of Death Note in norwegian.. ridiculous, as it should be. It's kind of fun though, being able to read manga in Norwegian.. hehe.. wish production hadn't stopped. I hope you succeed (succeeded?) in procuring your first volumes of FMA in english. For the record I totally understand you. I read the 13th volume of Death Note online, and it was totally weird in english. So the continuity that follows with a translator in a particular language, is quite important. It's hard to jump from one to another no matter what.

What anime/manga would you in general recommend? Like, what are your favorites?

.... long post... !

I don't think my age has anything to do with what I watch? I'm sorry if I offended you but I simply did not like Kiznaiver. If you did, that's good. I'm not sure why you're angry? @ Arcadia [Edit]

I've probably did not let a chance to enjoy Working!! I might pick it up later on? But the setting looked a bit dull and boring to me. Maid Dragon was really nice. I think KyoAni did great this time, contrary to Fanthom World. I loved the setting, the pace and the characters are very lovely. It's nice to have a bit of fantasy in a normal setting. Oh! Yes the boss was a bit of a bummer. He was annoying and rude, which isn't a good workplace setting :c But still, I loved her friend sitting beside her at work (kinda reminded me of New Game).

I'm still thinking about this forgotten anime! I cannot seem to remember q___q Here is the slice of life tag. Maybe it's there? (also a self-reminder to check for more animes to mee). I adore Kakegurui. The animation, the colours, the symbolism and the story is beautiful. I reckon, I wouldn't give a 10. I feel like things are missing and/or incomplete. Which is why, I'll throw myself at the manga once every episodes have aired! But if you enjoy gambling, psychological and a bit of ... girly love, then maybe it could be good?

I'll watch the Death Note movie adaptation made by Netflix. I feel like suffering :P!

Finally picked Re:Creators up again. Heading into the second half of it now. It does drag on and is definitely one of those shows where I reach the half point and think it’s over.. and then it turns out half the episode is left lol. So those are always a slog to get through. It’s still keeping my interest though, for now.

ReCreators spoilers (kind of) The main character revealed to the other characters what the viewers have known since early in the show. I think they dragged it out a bit too long. Also it had been long enough since I watched this that I honestly forgot he hadn’t already told them lol. They’ve also set up the rest of the show, so I guess they can fill all those episodes after all? There are also new characters being introduced soon, which for some reason I didn’t think would happen. That should shake things up a bit at least. If nothing else I’m excited to see what genre/story the new characters will parody.
Yeah, Phantom World was unusually bad for KyoAni I thought. I haven’t seen everything they’ve done, though. Some of their shows I really liked and others were bland. Oh well. Yes, mixing fantasy and modern world is pretty fun. Yeah, the friend was pretty nice. Like they were just co-worker friends and not after-work friends (iirc), but they still had a good dynamic and even shared a passion. It felt real.

Haha, don’t worry too much about it. I’m still interested to hear, but it’ll come to you when it comes to you. ^_^ Oh, that’s good to hear. I was very interested in it along with some of this season’s other animes, but never got around to watching. Psychological is one of my favorite genres, and I’m always interested in shows that have that tag. I’ll check it out sometime.

Haha, well I hope it’s fun at least. From what I’ve seen it looks kind of good bad. Did you watch it yet, if so what did you think?

Ooh a long list! Yes, I’m seeing a lot of overlap with what I’ve seen and liked too. A lot of shows I’ve wanted to watch as well. Death Billiards, did you watch Death Parade as well? If not I can recommend it (I did not watch Billiards). The only one I haven’t heard of I think is Haibane Renmei, what kind of show is that? Steins;Gate is one of my favorite shows, I’ve been wanting to rewatch it and also play the vn. I’ve also been wanting to rewatch nge.. I listen to the soundtrack a lot. Madoka was one of the first I watched. Also some of these I’m in the middle of watching.. like Monogatari, Noragami and Psycho Pass.

For Psychological, what I’d recommend is Aku no Hana and Zankyou no Terror. There’s also… Mirai Nikki and Mawaru Penguindrum. I liked those but Mirai Nikki is more about the action I think, and Penguindrum is… interesting, but it’s confusing/mysterious and fantastical. The first two are more down to earth and in a regular-ish setting. I also liked Mayoiga but I don’t think others did.

some notes about Aku no Hana Aku no Hana is good but really slow. Final scene in ep 5 makes it worth it imo. But what you should know is I think it ended sort of loosely, with a teaser for a season 2. There is no season 2 and there probably won’t be (but there is a manga).
As for fantasy, I will recommend Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night (ufotable). Lots of action, good animation+music, and a good story with interesting characters. I will also recommend Tenkuu no Escaflowne. Shinsekai yori is a pretty interesting and well made show, but I’m still a bit angry at it.

Death Billiards is THE SH*t! Holy moly. If you like psychological pls watch it! OMFG Penguimdrum! OMFG. Really... This one is... WOW.

Haibane Renmei is a sw that deals with teenagers after death. It's cute but emotional and very deep. Mirai Nikki was like: Okay but not too shocking. The more "shocking" was this magical girl Madoka! Masoka is a MUST see in my opinion.

Fate/Stay series is also nice, I know Escaflowne. I love that oldschool feel.YOU WATCHED SHINSEKAI YORI??? LET ME HUG U!!!! OMFG. So happy now! Same here as well though. I'd have loved to get a few more eps.

Mayoga? What's that?

Zanjkyou no terror is so much recommended and I really need to watch it.

Ohwwww... I have found someone who loves this ,ystic psychological genre. <3 yay.

Hmmmm Also always fav is Death Note and I am watching Kyokai no kanata. What I can recommend bc of mindfuckery(TM lol) is Kara no Kyōkai. Tough stuff tbh.

Ohh and watch Hai to Gensou no Grimgar Grimgar!!!!

NGE is ALWAYS woth rewatching. <3 lMonogatari, Noragami and Psycho Pass... Hmm there come to mind a few I like. Like Cowboy Bebop. - I love anything that is psychological and maybe a bit goth. Sad that there's less from 90s anime. The nly ones I know are Ergo Proxy and Witch Hunter Robin.

I’ll be sure to watch it, then. I’ve been meaning to anyway. Ah, I see. Haibane Renmei does sound kind of interesting then. Madoka was rather interesting, I don’t think I was as shocked as those who watched it expecting a generic magical girl show though. It was sort of sold to me as a twist on the genre when I hadn’t watched anything from that genre from before lol. But I did like it.

I also love older anime. I think the «generic» style of old anime is more appealing than that of today. But maybe that’s just because it’s old. Haha yeah It’s been a while since I watched Shinsekai yori, though. 2 years I think, maybe more. I did like how different it was from other shows. Very atmospheric. Mayoiga is a show that aired about 2 seasons back I think. I mainly watched it for it’s Mystery genre, since I’m a sucker for mysteries. The plot is that a group of people try to find a lost town in the mountains and end up stuck there. And then they begin seeing strange things.

SPOILER (click to toggle) These things they see turn out to be related to some kind of trauma they have. The things they see visually sometimes border on silly iirc, with bad cg.. but it’s done ok enough and visually interesting that it for me made the show more unique. I unfortunately don’t remember if they treated the character’s traumas seriously or if it was more soap opera-ish. There was a lot of drama between the characters, who are really just strangers.. well, I don’t know, I guess maybe it was just mediocre. I thought it was entertaining while it aired, and at least a little different from all the magical school ecchi shows.

ZnT really was good. I think it was too short though. Psychological is one of my fav genres. It's kind of an odd idea for a genre name, though. I liked Death Note, haven’t watched the anime though. Kyoukai no Kanata was.. not KyoAni’s best work. It was alright though, and it's kind of special to me. Kara no Kyoukai is another one I’ve had recommended to me. I'll have to get around to watching that sometime. I’ve only watched a few 90s anime myself. One of my favorites is Golden Boy. ... I now realize you're talking about 90s Psychological anime lol. I don't know of any of those myself, except ones that are on my to-watchlist.

Hmm maybe I should watch Death Note. So far I've been satisfied with the manga, but maybe it's worth watching. Lol Golden Boy is pretty great yeah. Another one I've been meaning to rewatch, though that's easier since it's so short. I don't think I've actually watched any traditional magical girl anime? It's kind of weird when you enter the scene at the moment it's being reconstructed and changed. I'm really into horror manga, anime I just haven't seen that much. As for KyoAni, well they did my all time favorite Nichijou. This is a really unique series with a lot of funny and quirky moments. Other shows I enjoyed are Hyouka, Lucky Star, Free, Kobayashi-san no Maid Dragon and Hibike Euphonium. I haven't seen any of the other stuff yet. Hyouka, as I recall, is slow but has some nice moments. There were sometimes interesting visuals and I liked the main character. It's been several years since I saw it though. Lucky Star is really funny and relaxing, but I haven't finished watching it yet. Free! is also good. I guess it's mainly fanservice but it does try to get you interested in the swimming sports tournament part of it. It did get rather exciting for the sports events as I recall and I liked the relationships between the characters. Particularly with regards to how dynamics change when you move away from each other etc. Maid Dragon was mentioned earlier in this thread and it is quite enjoyable. And Hibike Euphonium is another slow one. I actually found it kind of tiring to get through, still haven't watched the second season. I got kind of tired of it, but the characters are ok and I really enjoy the big band music. Shows like that are probably best enjoyed while doing some menial task. Like I said, KnK isn't irredeemably terrible or anything, it was just kind of unintentionally silly.

Sword art online: Ordinal Scale (the new movie) 6/10

Tldr: I was lucky to see it online. I've never graded anything from SAO higher than 5 before. As always, SAO really has great specs, graphs and animation. It's easy on the eyes and captivating to look at. However, the poor usual storyline cannot make it up, unfortunately. What I've liked from this movie is how Kirito was not OP (until later) and Asuna was very strong and power-centric this time around (until later). I've also enjoyed the overall friendship and teamwork in this movie. It's unusual and very interesting. Maybe I would have like SAO better if it had been like this from the start.

But as always, the plot is weak-willed. The "evil mastermind" is boring and shallow, copying things from SAO/ALO which sucked already. It was an okay watch. I wouldn't want a redo but I've found it okay.

But I coukdn't get into hyouka. I recently watched Kyōkai no Kanata and it's good. (lightweight compared to Kara no Kyōkai which is... well. Not for everyone. :v Now I am at Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou EP 4 and enjoy it. It'Äs easygoing. Doesn't kill me and my tears like Natsume. - Where I need to watch the recent season, (But I couldn't bring myself to bc TEARS! SO MANY TEARS. uwaaah)

Ahhh, she's so cute! ^.^ Yeah, the faceplates look pretty good. I notice she's at the top of the rankings as well, both on AmiAmi and Hobby Search (my go-to). Might be a good indicator for a season two if the merch is flying off the shelves, hehe 😄

Sorry, I missed your post ^_^". By KNK I meant Kyoukai no Kanata. Fate/Nasuverse is just expanding exponentially it seems, lol. I can understand that. It's been a long while since I saw Hyouka, and it was one of the first anime I saw. I'm not sure I would have been captivated at all by it today. Maybe something to watch while doing something else? Oh, is Youkai Apartment good? People on MAL seem to be leaving good reviews.

As for me, I've been slacking off as it were in the anime department. Nearly finished with Re:Creators, though. And I've been reading a bit of manga instead while waiting around at work. But haven't seen any of this season's shows :'(
