Combined with the fact she's able to speak to snakes and owns one, this wariness against her seems somewhat justified, but she doesn't care at all, which makes her arrogant to a certain amount. In her opinion, people who judge her for being a Parselmouth are simply jealous of her ability. She's a bit mistrustful. Being an only child, she's quite spoiled. Her parents are traditional pure-bloods and so was Elizabeth's upbringing as well, resulting in an early betrothal with the son of her parent's friends, Corvus Farlan Montgomery. [spoiler=Bio and history]Elizabeth lives with her family in Cottenham, a small village, slightly north of Cambridge. They live a bit outside of the village so they can use magic without fearing a Muggle stumbling upon them. Although Cottenham is mainly inhabited by Muggles, there's an undeniable magic around this place. Local legends say that long ago, the village Muggles wanted to build the Church more in the town's centre, but the foundation stones kept appearing in another place. After hearing this legend from her grandfather as a kid, she developed a great interest in books to learn more and accidentally found the locked, old school books of her parents without them knowing(which was actually the first time she used magic: to open the lock). They were quite surprised when they found Elizabeth in the garden with a pile of magic books about two weeks later. Considering her young age, she clearly did only understand few of what was written in these books, but gathering this knowledge while skimming through the books became quite handy at Hogwarts later, remembering things from chapters that were about to come. When Elizabeth was eight years old, she found a small grass snake while on her way to the village, being really excited that it was talking to her. She brought it home, but eventually had to release it as it was considered a wild animal. Her father then told her about the family's heritage. Due to the fact that Parseltongue was associated with the Dark Arts and Voldemort for quite a long time, the Covington family rather stayed silent about their heritage in the Dark times. Elizabeth's father even refused to speak it which makes it difficult for him to actually understand Parseltongue - mostly because the voice of the Basilisk at Hogwarts was haunting him in his early school years (until it got killed in his 3rd year). The origin of Parseltongue in the Covington family lies in the 18th century; where it was simply an illegitimate son(fathered by Head of House Gaunt then, when they were still wealthy and presentable). Although illegitimate children weren't considered a full-part of the family, the boy was approved as a 'real' Covington later when the family needed someone to pass the family name on.

Bio: Tragedy struck early in Rain's life. When she was only 5 years old, her father was killed while on the job as an Auror for MACUSA. Despite this, she has inherited her father's optimism and his sense of adventure. Her No-Maj mother, Rose, had to raise Rain on her own, and sometimes she was unsure on how to advise Rain about her magical talents... It was difficult for her to keep up with Rain's antics. She was happy, therefore, when Rain was accepted into Ilvermorny and had a chance to improve upon and tame her natural talents.

Since her mother would tell her stories about her father's work, Rain had always been interested in Defense Against the Dark Arts. She inherited his talents in the subject, as well as in caring for magical creatures. Rain was always fascinated with animals, both normal and magical alike. Because her parents had an aviary, she is particularly fond of birds, and she has a snowy owl and an Augurey as pets. Although Augureys have a history of being misunderstood, Rain thinks that they make beautiful and gentle companions, despite their slightly forlorn appearance. In her spare time, she reads and researches as much about magical creatures as she can. In the future, she hopes to have adventures while doing field research on magical birds as a magizoologist.

Rain also loves playing Quidditch and flying on her broomstick. She is a quick and nimble flyer, and sometimes she will try to keep up with her pets while they are out flying.

Rain's widowed mother met and fell in love with a businessman from the UK several years ago. They recently got engaged, and since Rose does not have any close living relatives left in the States, they decided to move to the UK where his extended family lives. Since Rain has made friends with some students from Hogwarts through the Triwizard Tournament, her mother felt that now would be a good time to go. She had been hesitant to move before since Rain didn't know anyone there. Rain was a little bit hesitant to leave her Ilvermorny friends behind, but she already knows some lovely students at Hogwarts, and she knows that she will make more new friends there.
