I like a lot about Subeta except two little things. One of them, ironically, are the pet species. They are kinda lacking.

Really ? There are so many, in so many colors too. And there are the experiment pets (many come in chibi, scribble, and basic).

I don't like how they only have on basic pose. I would love for Subeta pets to come like old Neopets or Marapets, whose image changes depending on how they feel. Like, for example, pets with happiness below 3 and/or hunger below 5 could be frowning.

The special colors change poses, but I'm personally really thankful they don't change due to mood. Plus, given how many pets are created in the various basic colors + special repose colors, it would be a lot of stress on the small art department. Neo doesn't do as much in a yearly basis including yearly events/holidays, monthly themes, for the past few years monthly new battle opponents (that drop prizes), monthly collections and themes, all the various items to go with the themes, plots (plots needing battle, prizes, various themed items to go along with each step, etc). All of which can be wearable and need the item + overlay (and overlay needs 1-to-2 versions). It's a lot, so sadly pets being a bit more 'basic' is needed. Plus the art difference is... a lot. We are lacking in how many pets are done (due to the small team and how much they need to do), though, and I wish they could set time aside and focus on them instead of all the other stuff. But many others would prefer they focus on more clothing, ahahaha XD

Tons of work, but for a good cause. And I said "old Neopets". Neopets today is trash. Thanks Jumpstart. I stopped playing long long ago but I keep myself informed if possible.

Also I would love to have a widget to check my pet hunger and happiness. it barely feels my pet is with me lol. In Neopets, my pet was in the sidebar.

Yup. There is either the useless main pet widget that shows nothing, or the one that shows only battle stats.

I think maybe part of it is because most users (other than those that work for the gourmand achievements) put their pets into the resort and don't worry about actually feeding them or keeping them happy with toys (and minions make the pets happy, so no need to worry about that even outside of the resort).
