If the pings aren't working I think it would be worth making a new group? Before we've made a lot of posts and such.

In the past the folks over at SubetaLodge had made private forums for the different wayward groups... but I realize we probably wouldn't need that because I think our boards here on subeta are private too if I'm not mistaken?

OH and I will be creating my character in the wardrobe - it's not my current HA. ^^

is right. Im sure private groups are shut off from other not part of the group. I tried it with one of my friends posts to check.

As far as creating a Subetalodge forum is concerned, yeah, I don't think that's necessary. As everyone else said, a private forum group is private, so no one else can see our posts without joining the group first. And since ours is set to "invite only", no one can sneak in, either. :) Honestly, having it in sSubetaLodge would probably just mean I'd never remember to look, since I wouldn't be getting pings... So it's probably better to keep it here.

I saw someone ask if we all need to include the same Steampunk item on our HA's. Do we? If we do, does anyone have any suggestions? Some of my personal favorites are: Any of the Masquerade Belt items, Belt Vest items, Time Flies Cuff items, the Buttoned Half Jacket items, Belted... Leather Armor items, or one of the vehicles (Menagerie 2016 items, like the Ziara City Coupe, Coda Caves Race Car, etc.). I feel, too, like most of those items are fairly versatile for male/female characters, and different types of characters, especially if we pick a basic color like bronze, pewter, black, etc.

We could also consider using a common background or background item, to make us look more like a team. If we did that, it might be cool if we could tie the item into our story, like if it is our main source of transportation, or if it is a room we can magically transport with us, that we use as our meeting room, or if it's an item specific to our name (such as a library, a book, or a squirrel item)...

I haven't gotten any notifications when the sqltales group is pinged. :( It shows up with a double hashtag and as plain text instead of a link/ping. Trying it out again to see if it works... if it doesn't and it comes down to making a new one we could just copy all the posts over?

@ rainestorme I was curious and had my sister try viewing my forum posts through my profile and even though she's not in the group she could see my posts... so I'm guessing in that way they can still be viewed by anyone but the actual topics are private?

I'm all for sharing a background to make everyone go together. My HA/character is almost done I just need to do a couple more things and pick out a companion for them. ^^

edit This is my HA at the moment... still picking out an animal companion and I haven't done the background. I also need to get my name and class which I will probably get tomorrow. Private Outfit

I also did play around with the Pewter Time Flies Cuff... it's not on my HA atm but if needs be I could swap for it if something like that is decided on. Otherwise matching backgrounds are still a good option?

Also it looks like the group ping still doesn't work... I'm only getting regular pings and notifications from subscribing to the thread but no actual SqlTales notifications.

I don't mind missing pings. I check back here every so often anyway. x3

We could also use one of the Squirrly backgrounds too since we're still at the Squirrel. I just need to tweak my current HA a little to make it steampunk, I think I'll use one of the watches.

I'm still worried about the group pings not going through because then Greenrowan can't ping our group to certain boards... I guess then she'd just be pinging waywardsquirrel as a whole then so IDK. With pings that aren't working I'm worried I'll miss a lot as a reluctant member, I may be absent for long periods of time right now and only able to help out here and there which was discussed before I joined. (as such I fully understand that I shouldn't be eligible for prizes in the same manner as other more active members of the group if I were to go poof for a week or so)

Some of us are trying to figure out an alternative to using Subeta for some of our Wayward related discussions because it's not entirely private and our posts here can still be read when viewing all of a user's forum posts. While I don't really think anyone will try anything underhanded and try to cheat off of us it might not be a bad idea. Personally Subetalodge has always been my preference as I was always under the impression the specially made wayward groups were private based off of what it says here on Subetalodge when you try to view a members posts:

So for example I don't think anyone that wasn't a member of the Foggiest Notions (my team from the last two years) would be able to view my posts in the Foggy threads on Subetalodge? I understand though that Subetalodge might not be the top choice for everyone... I'm just going off of what I know and I've done in the past. ^^; I like Subeta's avatar sharing feature and other useful tools for doing Wayward so IDK. As a very reluctant member this year I don't know that my opinion will really matter a whole lot since I might vanish a ton... but whatever is ultimately decided on I'll do. I'm a bit hesitate to take this somewhere that isn't Subeta related but I'm willing. My personal preference is forums but chat rooms are okay provided they keep a static log of every message for easy catch-up reading. I haven't used a chatroom in years (anxiety :X) but I was told some do keep messages so that's good. ^^ Whatever is ultimately decided just message me the details on how to access it... if it comes down to downloading any programs though I'm out because my laptop has not been cooperating and threatens to overheat even just from opening an internet browser.

Just had a thought as far as the ping group is concerned... Pinging works completely independently from forum groups anyway... Like you can ping any group from any other page. So we could just start a second group with a working ping, but continue to do all our chatting and discussing here anyway... Like we wouldn't actually have to move these board over (because copying and pasting all of this would be dreadful)..

And my other thought was, I know some people on subeta have the power to move chat threads around, like if someone posts on the wrong part of the forum. So the other possibility is, maybe if we created another ping group, we could file a ticket or something to get our threads here moved straight over? Again, we'd be avoiding copying and pasting them...

As far as moving to Subetalodge is concerned... I mean, then we can't ping, either, and I don't think I'd remember to head over there all the time... So I'd kind of rather just stay here. And besides, there are sooooo many teams, and so many teams that know so much more about what is going on than us... I seriously doubt anyone will take the time and effort to stalk through all of the posts on our team to try to put together what we know and we're doing...

But also, there is an event everyone button if you have admin priviliges... (Do we all have those on here?) That presumable pings everyone, too... And maybe it would work around our faulty ping code`?

I am totally supportive of remaking the group and seeing if our topics could be moved over... if not, we could even just post new threads in the second group or just use it for pings as you suggested. :)

That could be fun, but someone would have to write something up along with the article before tomorrow... Since you're suggesting a role play, does that mean you're a good writer? Would you have any interest in writing the article to go with our hinky pinky things?

I figured we could just wait till next round to try any RPs. Its best if we all at least have an idea of who we want to be before we try. Plus, it takes more that a day to bounce interactions around with each other. Like say, Max walks up to someone, takes their hand, and kisses it. Someone would respond, and we would go back and forth or others would join in. Or, each of us could write a paragraph of what we think of the situation and post it. Then, collabe and try to stick them together. Unless all of us are sitting around for a day on the site, its not a quick thing ^^; Also, how do Reluctants want to be treated? Do we have a hologram pocketwatch to page them with if we get stuck? Use them like a life line, RP wise?

Hologram pocketwatch sounds neat. XD I might be able to pop in at random times to give input still but real life is super crazy right now. Only just getting to all my wayward related pings now. Today is my brothers birthday so I might not get everything read tonight.

I'm also a reluctant this summer. I think a watch sounds good but I honestly can't tell you when I may pop in. My work schedule can get pretty crazy.
