I was just busting your hump :p I have no idea what stats Tharg has or what tier he is lol. Definitely don't think it will be doable for a T8 with even stats or a T9 with low health. The heal per turn is what keeps you from dying unless your crit hit.
- no problem, I'm not really bothered, I just love to tease back. (Sometimes harder to tell in typing versus face to face - sorry.) :-)
Just FYI, Tharg is T8, stats in the 1160's.
Yes, it's that heal per turn and the fact that healers are a percentage of your max health that makes all the difference. The other thing that matters, as just mentioned is AP. Even lower tier pets can equip lots of scrolls if they have high AP. That can make a big difference for any pet who is lucky enough to be the sibling of a higher tier battler. Sometimes the scrolls can compensate for other deficiencies, although you still only get to use one per turn.
I think it might be fun to allow you to use three per turn - either two weapons and a scroll, or two scrolls and a weapon (or any three) - sort of like magic users versus fighters in D&D. :-) Unfortunately, that would probably require a major recode of the battle system. Once you get there, it might even be fun to just allow any four (if you want to include potions and shards). Sort of like what they did for layering in the wardrobe. Just count the total and don't worry about the subclass.
AP makes A LOT of difference. This is because most scrolls don't have a pet stat restriction so your T7 pet could use the same scroll set a T13 pet uses if he has the same amount of AP. You could have a T1 pet with 5 gift of the forj scrolls, the void scroll and whatever else if you have the AP for it. Completely overkill but doable.
I take back what I said actually. Even if you have an evenly built T8 or low health T9, I think you can still get the wins with the right scrolls. If you can chainfreeze and over heal, you can do it.
My turn to try~ waves to starting on the three-header now....
The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group
- good luck.
- true, if you had infinite chain freezing you might not even need the healing (except for turn one when you could use something like a Negating Pylonic). That way, at least in theory, a T1 pet could beat them all (and everything else in sight too). Might be fun to create a T1 pet and just start reading ... Sounds like an extremely interesting experiment. And it would save all the expense of buying all those weapons! I can just see it now. T1 pet at the top of the battle pet list. I always knew I loved books more than anything else. :-)
I doubt it -- if it hits you hard enough the first turn, unless you really can block everything or heal a few thousand instead of a percentage (because even the pquill only heals you as many hp as you have, and no more), you'd die that first turn. Blasting still leaves them with the pillbox or a wad -- and both do one or two icons. For a high attack opponent and a low defense pet, that's a lot of damage, even though it's hardly anything at higher tiers. It'd be interesting to try, though.

- that's why you use the [item2=Negating Pylonic] on the first turn. Blocks everything for one turn. Can equip only one. One use per battle. Goes away, must be purchased again.
Wow! Way to go on the 5 wins! I admit, I probably should've gotten back in the fight earlier this week, but life kind of got a bit crazy. At this point, don't know if I'll be able to (or find the motivation to) get back into the arena.
But for sure I'll get him next year. :P
Oh no I don't think something like a T1 or T2 pet could beat him, even with chain freezing. There is definitely a minimum tier, maybe it's T6 or T7, where having a ton of freezing scrolls or healing scroll will work. It's not just about surviving the hits, you have to be able to do enough damage. has a lower tiered pet with a lot of AP. I'd be curious to know what difficulty of opponents it can defeat!
- if you keep him constantly frozen, there isn't any damage, right? Or is it because there aren't any 100 percent freezing scrolls?
- great question from . I'd love to know that answer to that as well.
- Thank you, I had a lot of help or it never would have happened. For what it's worth, it took less than 100 battles for Tos to get to five wins so not all that much time. And got five wins with her T8 pet, Oranos, in only 34 battles!!! Good luck with the hydras if you get to the Battle Coliseum. If not, Tos, Tharg (my T8) and I will join you in the Battle Coliseum next year when the hydras return. Either way, hope you have a relaxing weekend. (Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of having fun? :-) )
There is no 100% freezing scroll so there is always the chance that the freezing scrolls you have won't freeze. It took 34 battles though btw. I had 29 losses and 5 wins so 34 total :D
Crazy Train 0/442 Panzer Hydra 1881/3000
He had no trouble with the first 2 opponents but just not enough fire power at T4 for the 5 header
- Good job Crazy Train to get ten wins on both of the first two hydras!
I stopped with Gulp (my T4) after 5 wins on the 3-headed hyrdra since I didn't think she'd have a chance to handle the five-headed one. She's my baby battler who has won both of my big event prizes so far. :-)
- okay - stats corrected. It's still a big deal accomplishment! I see. Without a guaranteed long term freezer, it makes sense then that there would be a minimum since you would need either an infinite full blocker (or an infinite amount of single full blockers) to avoid damage. I knew there must be some reason why you were all spending so much time training and studying/buying weapons, instead of just quietly reading. :-) I do still think it might be fun to have a "magic user" sort of battler as well as a "fighter with some magic help" sort of battler - must be my Dungeons and Dragons background showing. :-)
Uh oh, I may be out of luck if the scrolls are the secret here's my set:
weapons Icy Freezing Rod of Doom Shinwas Temple Shard Iron Fireside Lantern Item Hunters Bomb Soma Tablets Blessed Trident of the Banished One Malignant Rift Staff Reviver Of The Lion
Scrolls Soothing Current Corroding Dew Divine Denizhen Still Pool Cobalt Eternal Perilous Whirlpool Singed Stuffing
I have plenty of other weapons to choose from but that's it on scrolls.
Thanks to all the great advice in this thread I'm closing on win 8 (just finished a draw). Hoping to get to 10 before it's no longer available.
If I have claimed a Dance from you and do not immediately Dance I will get back to you.

[/font]- adding a Phoenix Quill would help if you can afford it. The Perilous Whirlpool Scrolls were for a chance at freezing, but didn't always work, so that may not be a problem for you (although it's nice that they also did water damage which he doesn't block), but I often only got to use one. The Aftershocks Scroll does a bit more healing than Soothing Current and also does some damage (not sure how much because he can block some of it), so not sure they are absolutely necessary. You could borrow some or all of the scrolls. I don't have any Perilous Whirlpools but I do have the Aftershocks Scroll. Also, you can get the Flayed Lord Breastplate that I used very cheaply if you want one. (I seem to use it a lot - not just for this hydra) It would also be very helpful if you could upgrade your freezer. I was using Deluxe Death Shard which is a 100% freezer. That's from BHH, but Gate Keeper Collar of Slavery can be purchased (or bought in the Battle Shop) and might be worth it if you can afford it, since it would be a general upgrade, not just for the hydras. Adding the Recycle Blaster (also pretty inexpensive if you need to buy) to your Soma Tablets lets you double blast which really helps as well. I'm not a battle expert, but your higher stats might let you get there with what you've already got (or maybe just a couple of changes). You can do this! Good Luck in the Battle Coliseum.
- you're very welcome! I'm so glad to hear the thread is helpful. Great job getting to 7 wins and good luck with the last 3.
Ooh thanks! I went and beat the recycle beast to get his blaster and I actually have the breast plate, collar, and quill, I just didn't realize I should be using them LOL I rarely use defenders, thought my lion reviver thing took the place of the quill. and didn't even know the collar was a freezer! haha
My general battle strategy is always 1. Freeze and block/attack scroll 2. bomb the crap outta them 3. soma-bomb if it's left-attacker if not/blocking scroll 3. my healing attackers constantly until I either win or need to use my reviver/attack-block-heal scrolls as necessary
I'll definitely end up having to borrow some scrolls if I have time. I have to go work now and I don't get done till 730p subeta time T^T nooooooooooo lol
- adding blasting to your strategy really seems to help with some of these bigger challengers and definitely for the hydra. It really helps when you get several rounds of low damage out of him.
With the hydra, the longer you can keep him frozen, the better, so it's not about bombing after the first freeze, it's about blasting and refreezing because once his antifreeze comes up you never get to freeze him again.
After that it's sort of a semi-defensive battle. You do small amounts of damage, but stay alive - use either the Reviver or Phoenix Quill, - do more small amounts of damage - use the other big healer if need be - do small amounts of damage. If you get ahead of him in health and it gets close, you can throw in a Negating Pylonic (full block one turn) to help finish him off if need be. And if you have sP to spend, equipping lots of Dark Water Potions and using one every turn adds damage. You might also get some help from the Trident's Blessing. I know that Shinwas Short Sword (buyable in the battle shop) has a blessing with a 300 hp heal per turn for three turns and helped make the difference for me. Don't know how your strategy would work because I never used it after I borrowed all those weapons and scrolls. If you can do enough damage to kill him before one of his massive hits kills you, then whatever works to do that is good.
Hope you get another chance at him later today, but, if not, they'll be back again next year and we will be bigger and stronger then. Good luck!
did get the eight win but couldn't get past 9. Thats ok though, next year :D
