I don't know if I'll want to play again but if I do I don't want anyone to take my pets names
is there a way to do this?
Your pet names are going to be taken if you're frozen, even if you come back every year. :)
If you only want to protect your pet names, it's easier to have your account unfrozen, but log in once or twice a year.

Do keep popping in periodically if you want to protect your pets' names and your username. As indicated, self-freezing doesn't protect against that -- they become fair game once your account is deemed inactive. (Ideally, of course, we'd love for you to stay active on the site! You're about to miss another event next month!)
Just wanted to add to the lovely Dill's comment : inactivity is one year without logging in for unfrozen account, and one year after the freezing date for frozen or self-frozen accounts
