Grace nods while you explain your reasoning and concerns. "Bella might be right. We&;ll miss an opportunity to speak to Brandon this way, but it&;s less risky."
"Shall we get going, then?" Bella stands up and walks to the bathroom door, motioning for both of you to follow her. She slowly opens the door and gets inside, waiting until both of you have entered before closing it and locking the doorknob, as gently as she can.
You hear something seemingly coming from behind one of the walls. Tense silence fills the bathroom.
As soon as the noise almost fades out completely, Bella whispers into your ear, "Now."
"Huh?"
"Let&;s push that wall where the footsteps came from."
The false wall doesn&;t budge from the force you and Bella exert on it. Grace taps your shoulder and points to an inconspicuous sliding chain lock that had been painted the same colour as the wall. He slides the mechanism open, and with a gentle push, the wall swings to the ground without making a sound. The narrow hallway in front of you seems to have been padded with a soft, yellow material on all four of its surfaces.
You intermittently hear faint sounds that you can&;t quite identify.

"If the hallway is padded, what was that noise?"
"We&;re not very far from the backroom." Grace points to the door in front of you, just a stone&;s throw away. "Look at that door over there!"
"It must be coming from there, whatever it is."
"Maybe we should stay here a bit longer. Someone must be in the backroom."
"Wasn&;t the point of this plan a faster escape?" Grace looks at Bella.
"Grace, Even if we went with your plan, we&;d still have to pass this hallway."
"So what do we do if someone is in the backroom?"

How sure are you that dressing up as a guard can fool the people in the security office? What about that checkpoint? What are you all going to do about it?
Bella looks at Grace, and then at you. "Meeting up with Brandon sounds like a good idea. I&;m… I&;m sorry for… not trusting your plan, Grace."
"Heh, it&;s okay, love. Let&;s go?"
"Let&;s."

"That&;s why we&;re not pretending to be dead, just unconscious. At worst, they&;d just send us back into the room. At best, they&;ll call for medical assistance and give us a chance to escape."
"Shouldn&;t we have some kind of back-up plan?"
"We&;ll think of something as we go along. Let&;s just stick together, for now."

You walk closer to the door in front of you, and turn the door handle ever so gently. It seems to be locked.
Grace starts to dig for something in his shorts&; pockets, taking out two bobby pins. Bella takes the pins from his hand, and asks, "Why do you even have those?"
"I thought they&;d come in handy if you wanted me to fix your hair up. But hopefully it will serve us well right now."
Bella asks you to step aside, as she takes over and attempts to pick the lock. A few clicking noises are audible before she turns the pin to the other direction and seems to push it upward. It takes a while, but Bella manages to completely turn the lock and open the door.
"Where did you learn to do this?"
"Living most of fifteen years locked in a doctor&;s clinic does that to you."
The door reveals what appears to be a storeroom of sorts. Stacks of unpacked, unlabelled boxes litter the ground. The wall on the left-hand side has another door. In front of you is a drawer with what appear to be uniforms and casual clothing hanging from a clothesline. A translucent, orange, semi-circular surface covering what seems to be a hatch is situated to the right of the drawer.
"To get to the control room, we have to enter through that hatch, right?"
"Correct."
"Who gets to wear the guard uniform?"
"I think our friend here should do it, both of us will get recognised either way." Grace glances at you. "Hey, I don&;t believe I&;ve caught your name yet."
You introduce yourself to Grace and Bella, and exchange handshakes.
"Such a shame that we met under these circumstances. There&;ll be more time for us to talk once we get out of here."
"I&;ll get dressed. Please don&;t look at me," you hear Bella say. You look for a uniform that fits you, and, facing away from your companions, you start to dress up. It resembles a police uniform more than that of a security guard, but you&;re not going to complain.

"The jacket is a bit too large, but it beats running around in a hospital gown." Bella dusts off the sides of her jacket with her hands, before motioning for you and Grace to enter the hatch with her. Grace presses the lone button inside the egg-shaped chamber, and the entire hatch swivels into a dark room. A faint glow illuminates a portion of the walls to your sides. You look behind you to find the hatch surrounded by multiple screens, some of which display a blue screen with the text "vloss". The others appear to be connected to closed-circuit cameras.
You look at what&;s in front of you, and see three people facing the door. Standing by the door is a hooded figure holding the three at gunpoint. One of the three, someone with short, wavy hair, pulls out a gun from their side, and points it at the hooded figure.

This hooded person looks familiar...
"Neutral Force is conducting an investigation in this control room. Please do not interfere with our activities," you hear the silhouette with wavy hair say.
"Who gave you authorisation to enter private property?" The voice is unmistakably Orin&;s.
"Does the name &;E&; ring any bells to you?"
"That snake!"
"Leave us be, or we will call the police to sic on your little party."
Orin puts her arm down, and returns the gun to her pocket, walking away. Fortunately, it seems like she didn&;t notice you and your companions from behind. Someone walks close to the door, keeping an eye on what&;s happening outside.
"Good work, Tanja! I was so convinced you&;d stutter there," a deep-timbred masculine voice says.
"Must be the adrenaline. Gosh, that was stressful."
The third person turns around. From the little you can see of their face, it seems that their eyes have met yours. They tap the shoulders of both of their companions, who also turn around.
"Oh, these must be Grace and Bella! Glad you&;re safe," the wavy-haired woman whispers. She then points at you. "Who&;s this person with you?"

"Good work. You made it out of that hellhole," the blonde-haired man tells you.
"Brandon, I never thought I&;d do this, but, please… help us," says Bella.
"If I could, I would&;ve. But you don&;t have a lot of time. I just came here to tell you that."
"If the control room is next to this room, how did you find out about this from your office," asks Grace.
"I should ask you how you navigated your way. Anyway, I can see some of the camera feeds. I&;ve been hiding your escape from Wa- er, Master. But he might catch up to you soon. Hurry up and go to the control room. Disable everything you can, then run to the fire exit, and get out of this club. Don&;t look back."
Grace nods. "Thank you, Brandon."
Bella puts her hands over Brandon&;s shoulders. "Be careful. And sorry for shooting you that time. We ought to talk once we&;re all out of this place."
Brandon shakes his head, and points at the orange hatch, and motions for all of you to get in there. He then makes a zipping gesture over his lips, and re-enters the door he emerged from, gently closing it and locking it from the hallway. "We better keep quiet for now. Let&;s wait it out for a few minutes, then we get out of here," the man says just before he walks back to the door.
"We also retrieved the server E was talking about." The lady named Tanja pulls out the red router from her vest, but quickly places it back inside.
"That&;s a router, Tanja." Grace raises one of his eyebrows and gives her an odd look.
"Let&;s talk about it later. We need to get out of here as soon as possible. You two are safe, and we have the router. We have no other business here."
The stranger pulls out their phone. They show the text to you and your companions, as you surround them on all sides:
"i got rid of the guard
get the heck out of there
do not wait for me
i will face master alone -e"

"He&;s a friend of ours," Grace whispers in your ear.
"Will E be okay?", you hear the stranger ask.
"He&;ll be fine. He might be like that, but he knows how to handle himself," Tanja reassures you.
"You have so much faith in him, Tanja," you hear Carlos say.
"We can&;t let E do that alone!", exclaims Bella.
"Bella, please." Grace rests his hands against Bella&;s shoulders. "We shouldn&;t interfere."
"What if he gets hurt?"
"We&;ll endanger more people if we go there. He&;ll be fine. I promise."

"It might be Orin," Grace whispers in your ear.
"He did WHAT to the guard?", you hear the stranger ask.
"I don&;t think he killed the guard. That&;s not his style."
"What did he do, then? Poison the bugger?"
"Grace, can you see what he did?" Bella audibly whispers as she tugs on Grace&;s arm.
"I can&;t do that here and now!"
"What&;s that about?" Tanja turns her head around to face the two.
"It&;s nothing." Grace covers Bella&;s mouth with one of his hands.

"You read the text. Vamos, lovebirds!" Tanja leads the way out.
The bearded man stays behind until all five of you -- Grace, Bella, the stranger, Tanja, and yourself -- leave the control room. You enter a lengthy hallway illuminated with alternating blue and green neon lights. There is a break on the wall on the opposite end, although it is incompletely occluded with a steel trash can and an out-of-place neon light shaped into a "D", Tanja pushes it away, and you safely descend the fire exit.
Leaving the building, you find yourself on one end of an empty, albeit dark and derelict alleyway. You can hear muffled music. A stray hospital bed blocks the way out. Pushing it to no avail, the man with facial hair resigns to climbing over it. Tanja notices that the wheels of the bed are attached to both walls of the alley through welded chains. Grace and Bella motion for you and the stranger to go over the bed before them.
Before you can do so, you catch sight of Orin passing by. She seems too preoccupied with counting a fat pile of paper bills, humming a familiar, cheesy pop song. You feel someone pull you down, the draping sheets of the hospital bed covering you. As soon as she leaves your sight, the stranger slowly stands up, and discreetly climbs over the bed, taking care not to make any noise. You follow after them.
Orin is far from your sight by the time all of you go through the hospital bed. Tanja and the man in blue jeans high-five each other.
"Typical," Tanja mutters.
"Of course E would bribe her."
"I haven&;t been here for long. Are the people here in Lower Ziara generally… economically depressed?"
"You can say that."
"It&;s hard to believe, with all their technology and all these bars."
"Ever noticed that the drinks are dirt cheap?"
"How would I know, Carlos? I don&;t drink."
"You should try it out sometime."
"Not in a million years."
"Anyway, these people know how to maximise minimal resources. Most of the plastic they use is recycled."
"Fair enough." Tanja&;s hair sways gently as a gust of wind blows by.

Yet another hooded figure passes by in front of you, stopping in front of Tanja.

"I&;m sorry, the Master you&;re looking for is in another castle."
"What is the meaning of this, E?", inquires a slightly irritated Tanja.
"That&;s what the guard told me after I gave her all that money."
"How important is it that we find this &;Master&; guy? My freaking car got missing AND I NEED TO LOOK FOR IT, UGH UGH UGH!" Tanja begins to bang her head against the wall. Grace and Bella take her by her arms and pull her away from the wall of ChouChou.
Through the distorted, distant sounds of what seems to be club music, you hear someone announce "Unleash your Chouchou!" loud and clear.
"Should we still release the butterflies," asked the man, who seems to be named Carlos.
"I can&;t believe you kept those things on you!"
"Well, give me your butterfly. I&;m sure my daughter will love it."
"That&;s all fine and dandy, but I need to find my car!" Tanja is visibly anxious.
"Tanja, will you calm down for a second? I&;ll help you find your car, okay?" You all walk away from the building, heading towards Carlos&; car, which is still where it was parked.
"It&;s fine, Carlos." E scratches his right cheek. "Take Grace and the others someplace safe. I&;ll help Tanja locate her car. Finding Master isn&;t much of a priority." He glances at you, reaching his hand out. "Carlos&; car might not fit all five of you. Why don&;t you come with us?"
"E is trustworthy, and Tanja is usually an able emergency responder. You&;ll be safer with them rather than trying go home alone," Grace tells you.
"When you find your car, drop our companion to their home, okay?" Bella cheerfully waves at you, E, and Tanja. "And remember to text me when you&;re all home!"
E nods, waving back as he leads you and Tanja to another alleyway. He tells you to enter a black van. There are dents from what seems to be a bullet on the passenger door adjacent to the driver&;s seat. You take your seat at the back of the van, while Tanja sits in front.
"Where did you last park your car, Tanja?" E asks as he goes to the driver&;s seat.
"Club PLURality. This is partially your fault, E. Why the heck don&;t you hire a frigging guard for the place?"
"Ain&;t nobody got money and time for that."
"Suuure. But you have the money to bribe undead guards."
"That&;s pocket change, dear."
"Don&;t you DARE call me dear!"
E starts the engine and drives off. Turning to the right, you notice your surroundings switch from derelict alleyways to towering, colourful skyscrapers. There are multiple platforms on some buildings for what seem to be flying vehicles, something you assumed would only be present in the Upper City. Complexes which seem to be factories can be found left and right.
"MY CAR!", Tanja yells just before E drives through a bridge. He drives under it, instead. You see the back of what seems to be a police car, albeit without wheels. As the van passes by the car, you notice that someone is spraying something on the windshield, decorated only with a "CECE" decal, using a spray paint can. Fuming with rage, Tanja alights from the vehicle and seizes the man from behind, yelling at him. Their conversation is inaudible, but from what you can see of the man, he looks familiar…

You point at the brown-haired guy wearing a red jacket and say, "That&;s the one who kidnapped me at PLURality!"
E immediately gets out of the car. Pulling Tanja away from the man, he grabs the man, pulling onto his jacket by his sternum. He raises a clenched fist to the level of the man&;s eyes.
You can sit out of this and just watch, but something impels you to get involved. After all, this person did harm you. Before you get out of the car, you turn off the car&;s engine and take the key with you. Just a hunch. You never know if that guy might have someone around to steal this car waiting in the sidelines.
As you confront the man, pointing at his face as you tell Tanja that he&;s the one who kidnapped you and knocked you unconscious, he is trapped in all directions -- Tanja&;s police car on his back, you on his left side, E in front of him, and Tanja on his right. Tanja releases one of her hands from the man&;s arm, pulling out handcuffs to use on the man&;s hands.
"You know what, I was willing to let you off as long as you cleaned my windshield and returned the tires of my car. I don&;t have the energy to deal with this. But kidnapping not one, but three people? I&;m escalating this to police."
"I&;m escalating this to the police," the man echoes in a mocking tone, before clucking like a chicken.
"Once I can prove that you&;re behind a few murders in ChouChou, you bet your ass that you&;re rotting in the bowels of the horrible Atebus prison system."
"Boo-hoo-boo! Jail? I&;m so scaaared!" The man gives all of you a sardonic smile before he starts laughing maniacally.
"Don&;t think you can escape, either." E releases his hold on the man. "I&;ll be watching you… pal."
The man whistles, and three girls start heading towards him.

"Minions that aren&;t undead? How adorable. Their outfits even match each other."
"Shut up!" The man is struggling to break his hands out of the handcuffs, to no avail.
E beckons for the girl in green to come closer to him. "You look famished. If I give you money, would you kindly leave this employer of yours and eat well?" Irritated at his statement, the green-haired girl punches E in the stomach.
"Wow, you punch like someone stoning me to death with popcorn!" E stifles his laughter.
The man yells, "Get him, girls!"

One of the girls lets out a grunt before they all pull E away from the man, pinning him to the ground. The girl in blue licks her lips before running her finger through them. She sits herself on top of E&;s legs, and pulls his shirt up, scratching his abdomen with her long fingernails.
"Hold on to him for a second, we can&;t let him escape," Tanja tells you, before she releases her hold on the man, rushing to pull the woman in blue away from E. Just then, the girl in purple crouches down beside E&;s head, and bends down to kiss him. E shoves the purple-haired girl off him, and kicks away the girl in green before she can get closer to him. Tanja is caught in a struggle with the girl in blue, who overpowers her and tackles her to the ground. E similarly gets into a fistfight with the girl in purple. The girl in green grabs E&;s left leg with one hand, while the other reaches for his belt. E flicks her off easily.[/spoiler]
"How sweet of you to present me with this tailor-made torture… Wayne."
"Poor V. I wonder how long you&;ve deprived her." The man you&;re restraining sneers at E.
"You&;d be surprised. At least she understands me. You never respected me. You don&;t have respect for anyone, at that."
Tanja pushes the girl in blue away from her. Removing her normal belt, she ties it around the girl&;s wrists. She grabs the girl in purple from behind and punches her in the face while she&;s off-guard, knocking her to the pavement.
"Master," one of the scantily-clad girls mumbles.
It must have gotten E&;s attention, because he moves closer to the purple-haired girl, asking her to repeat what she said.
"Master," the girl groans.
"Master? Who is your Master?"
The girl rolls to her side, and points to the man Tanja instructed you to watch.
"I knew it. All this time, I had a feeling YOU were that &;Master&; Brandon was talking about." E instructs you to return to the car. You oblige, but keep the driver&;s door open so you can still hear what&;s going on outside.
"I don&;t know what you&;re talking about."
"Don&;t play dumb, Wayne."
"Okay, okay. You got me." The man called Wayne chuckles. "But what proof do you have? Some low-life b**** from this cesspool you call &;Lower Ziara&;? That isn&;t credible." Laughing maniacally, he sneers at E.
"Misogynistic as ever, I see. To think the people of Centropolis think you&;re doing something amazing with your psychotrauma centre."
"You know what makes us different, Erhard? You pretend to be an ass, but you have a heart of gold deep inside. I&;m the reverse. Who do people love more? Who gained more success?"
"You only care about yourself and your sadism. What are you even doing this for?"
"The whole world is my laboratory. It fascinates me to see what people do when they&;re pushed to their limits. It&;s fun to toy with people."
"And what of this Anti-Alien nonsense?"
"Those alien refugees are absolute scum. I can talk to you all day about this. They take our jobs, they take our men and women, and they dare to assimilate with us. They have weird practices and these stupid talks about angels. I&;m tired of seeing these outsiders take resources and opportunities that are supposed to be ours."
"All this just because you&;re butthurt that Anjy took your residency slot?"
"No, I…" Wayne shakes his head and pauses momentarily, feigning sadness. He then bursts into laughter. "I! HATE! EVERYBODY!"

This was sooo uncomfortable to read, I felt so awful for E! Leave the poor bby alone!! ;w; Thank youu Anon, and have a happy Vesnali! ^3^ ❤️

Upon hearing these words, Wayne successfully struggles his way out of your hold on him, sneering as he walks toward E.
"If you don&;t want to end up like Anjy, you and Brandon better cooperate with me!"
"I cannot believe I worked with someone as hateful as you."
Wayne says in a commanding voice, "Get up, you b****es! Get me out of these handcuffs, now!"
The girls in purple and green outfits stand up, heading towards Tanja, as the girl in blue frantically tries to free her hands from the belt Tanja tied around them. The two other girls dig their hands in Tanja&;s pockets.
"Sorry, girls. I didn&;t bring the key to the handcuffs I used on your &;Master&;!" Tanja nonchalantly walks away from the girls, approaching Wayne.
"Why don&;t you three introduce yourselves?" E looks at the girls.
Tanja then rests one of her hands on Wayne&;s shoulder, gesturing for you to come closer to her. She instructs you to pull him towards E&;s van. You couldn&;t paint the facial expression on Wayne&;s face even if you tried -- a mixture of disgust and anger. Tanja wordlessly opens the passenger door, shoving him inside. She forcefully swings the door shut, creating a loud noise. She then looks at you.
"I&;ll check if this Wayne guy trashed my car apart from spraying what I think was supposed to be &;LOSER&; on the windshield. Do you want to join me?"
From inside the van, you can see Wayne mouth out something, visibly enraged. E asks the three girls for their names, once again.
"Come on, guys. I don&;t think Wayne can hear us talk now."

Tanja takes out a set of keys from her belt, flipping through each of them to search for her car key. She hits her forehead with her palm, shaking her head. "D&;oh, it wouldn&;t be with me because I stupidly left the key inside the car while I had it parked! Of course that&;s how he ran off with my car in the first place!"
From one of the windows, you notice that the car key is still inserted into its intended keyhole. You effortlessly open the door to the driver&;s seat, too. Thank goodness.
"Can you please check the back? I&;ll check the compartments here in front."
Entering the car through one of the doors on the back, you find a white piece of cloth on one end of the passenger seat. From the way it&;s draped, it seems to be covering something. You alert Tanja to the cloth, and take care not to touch anything else.
"I didn&;t put anything in the back of the car last time. I usually keep this spick and span! He must have left it there. Can you check if there&;s anything else in the back?"
Observing the back seat more carefully, you find what seem to be crumbs of food littering it. There is a pack of crispy fish skin on the ground. Despite previously refraining from holding anything, curiosity gets the better of you, and you lift the cloth to find a yellow bag with a few holes. It&;s probably not a good idea to touch anything else. You inform Tanja about your discovery. She quickly climbs to the back of the car, and shrieks loudly at the sight of the plastic bag.
"Hey, thanks for your help. Can youâ€¦ please leave for now? I&;ll find a way to secure the bag here so that we can preserve it. You never know if it can be used as evidence."
You get out of the car, and find E still talking to the three girls.

"Sounds like a deal to me. You better be sure you&;ll really pay us, or I&;ll introduce you to a knuckle sandwich."
"Guuuys? We can&;t just leave Master alone!"
"You know me and Gloria, Lisa. We&;ll take the highest bidder any time."
"Then we can just ask Master to bid higher, just like he always does!"
"No."
"It doesn&;t work that way, Lisa. Whatever Wayne will pay, this guy will pay double."
"How dare you not call him Master? And who&;s going to take care of Master now?"
"Not me." Gloria glares at the two other girls.
"We can&;t keep living like this. Don&;t you have any shame? Don&;t you want to regain your dignity? I don&;t want to die like this! I don&;t want to end up having my son see who I am right now."
"It just shows that I&;m Master&;s most loyal servant. That&;s why he loves me the mostest!"
"Number one, &;mostest&; isn&;t a word. Number two, Wayne is a psychopath who is not capable of love."
"Just stop! You&;re so mean!"
"Being indebted to someone does not mean you should tolerate their bad deeds."
"Oh, you aren&;t being terse for once, Gloria! Why don&;t you help me reason out with this womanchild?"
"I am NOT a child!"
