like...how can you tell if you commission someone and they will try to help you sell it vs. they have you sell it yourself?

What do you mean? You can do one or the other, some artists take a slot as further payment for whatever reason but it's not mandatory.

You sell the items yourself. Sometimes, the artist will have a forum group you can ping, but the responsibility of selling the item falls on you. There may be exceptions to be this, but I can't think of any.

[edit] You can always ask them?

Most places are.

If you want someone to help you sell it, you can always ask them about it. c: Subeta also cracks down on those who don't keep their word (I'm loathe to call them scammers) so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

As someone who has slotted and bought directly off the release I can give you my input, but I've never done the sellers side so I'm not sure how the other half works. My input is this: When I've bought something from a seller it's usually slot price and it's them recovering the cost of a slot that someone bailed on paying for that item to even be put on site.

Slotting is different because the item isn't on site yet. So you and the artist go through and create say a pair of shoes. You work with the artist until you like it as you are paying them for their time in helping design it. Some artists even have designs ready to use and all you do is say you'll buy it and what colors you want it to be. Most artists will also want a copy of the item, some don't and so will ask higher prices for their work. Then once a design and colors are set you can make a board advertising slots to fill for an item. As you know each layer has a different cost to put on site in general. Most sellers ask for slots to be paid 400-700 depending on how much they have to pay the artist and layer cost. I'm not sure how slotting works aside from someone seeing you have open slots and they say they want one. I've always gotten a notification that I have a slot to pay for once I've expressed interest in an item. After slotting people (remember it's 10 slots in a batch) you then submit it for approval. If approved the paid slots get their items sent directly. If it's rejected I think they get their csc back and you try again based on the reasons given by staff for the rejection. Also this is where paying for an artist helps because they will help fix the errors.

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.

thanks...the other problem I'm nervous about is if I try to sell it and someone creates a copy of it..nothing i can do about that is there?

let me just say...it is brutal! I remember one time I wanted an item to sell and the owner wanted so csc so i was fine with that..the problem was the item never made it to subeta..to many people didn't want it and so I payed for the rest of what the owner owed since they couldn't help me...I felt cheated by the system somehow...spent all that csc on something i could never have..oh well..yeah you could say im still bitter about it..

If someone makes a copy of it, depending on the extent of said copying, they can get into trouble for it, yes. If it's something generic like a t-shirt or jeans or what have you, not so much.

By ideas: Do you mean private ideas or public ideas? Is it for showing a sketch? Or is it to commission an artist?

People cannot steal artwork but they can steal "ideas". Especially if unclear and free. You can discuss about CW ideas here / get interest.

It comes to what you want done tbh. If it's OC related, just commission an artist directly. Otherwise, you can be "vague" and hope an artist or people take interest. I'm not sure what you're looking for.

I'm looking to make a specific tattoo. The hard part is if someone steals the idea, because then they can make it private and thats not fun for anyonexP

You making it or an artist? You would be better to commission someone directly :)

true, i commented someone already. I'm just nervous someone will see my idea and steal it or not many people might be interested and if either of those are the case im screwedxP I have 4700..so all i can do is pray that people might want it. Another problem is also some artists have a cut off date to the files and if i dont get enough csc for the item sold in a month im screwed:P This is so hard to make something you really wantx3

You can always discuss things with your artist. Best way to sell a cw is to create a ping group and advertise it. You can always send it directly to shop for 1.5k csc. You'd get a free copy but you'll need to provide a copy to your artist if they asked for one. Then, you can make it unlimited or not and sell it.

You can front all the cost yourself or open slots for people that normally are between 500-600 CSC. c: The copy for the artist is typically discussed at the beginning, some like it, some don't take the slot or some like being thought of there and decline after being asked. It depends purely on the artist.
