Lydia narrowed her eyes at the question as she gave it some thought "Things should never get physical. There is no reason for situations to get out of hand when conversation and time apart can do the trick. Under no circumstance should a Captain, prefect, or anyone with a position of power should get physical in a school and/or professional setting. I can almost guarantee you physical actions or violence will not be tolerated at Hogwarts, but this is a conversation you would need to have with your headmistress." Lydia looked at the boy "I hope this helps." ()

Lydia turned her attention to the girl she knew from the crowd "It seems someone has been paying attention." Lydia smiled "This workshop is exactly what has been happening within it. You have all had a taste for the different things that can happen during a workshop. Right now there is an adult speaking in front of you all yet there are people not paying attention, thinking of homework, etc. This is part of being a workshop and getting to my point even though I started answering questions before I began my presentation everyone learns differently. Right now we are talking conflict resolution and you have provided a different view of what we have discussed. It didn't start a fight and from my perspective it wasn't a harsh point of view. It is important you keep in mind this workshop is catering to all of you. The different needs you all have and the doubts and insecurities you want to overcome. This is a how to workshop, but it is also a planning and training space. Your ideas can develop while your struggles can become strengths." Lydia walked towards the girl and handed her her favorite bag of nuts "I can assure you not everyone is interested in what I have to do or say. This doesn't mean they are not getting anything out of it. I do need to point out that just because some can leave things at the door it doesn't mean they will. Sometimes rivalries will be what they are and sometimes food can be the way to go. Like I said assess a situation and act accordingly." Lydia winked at the girl and whispered "I am glad you are taking advantage of this workshop!" ()

Lydia returned to the desk and spoke above all noise "this workshop is a safe place for you all to experiment with your ideas and brainstorm with others who view life differently. In here you can ask questions and receive basic knowledge on how to put a workshop together. As far as workshop rules you will find that basic rules apply across all workshops, but it is important to create guidelines specific to workshops and that will fall on the Captain. It is always recommended that when in doubt ask a professor they will be able to help you out!"

Another student caught Lydia's attention () "Yes, I like this! There will always be those who break rules and get in trouble. As a Captain you have the responsibility to protect your group, but I can assure you all no matter what you do there is always an adult aware of what is happening. The goal of workshops and captains is for students to find a place they can be themselves while also learning important life skills. If a situation were to get out of control an adult would intervene before anyone was in danger. Putting that aside as a captain you can report students and in really difficult situations use protective magic or expulsion/banning from the workshop."

((OOC: LOL YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME!!! I LOVE IT. I thinks I replied to everyone and all the questions, but if I didn't let me know so I can come back with more info! Keep in mind Lydia is in her mid 20's and a business owner. Some of her responses will be based on that and I do that on purpose.))

(when you come back)

Fable blinked genuinely trying to understand what was going on. She saw people were staring at her and wondered if she had said something inappropriate.

She looked at Eirick, "You talked about violence in groups, on one hand I would want to say that a good leader should be aware of the forming situation and try to resolve it before it came to that. However if it is a sudden acceleration to violence, I would think separation first of the fighting parties, then analyze what caused it and who might be at fault for starting it, then punishment. Either you warn them if this continues that they will be suspended from the group for a time period. If they continue, then suspend them, if they come back and continue once more to have a lack of control it would be expulsion. That is of course my opinion."

She gave a smile.

She then turned and looked at Kyros. "I think I understand what you mean. There are just going to be troublemakers/rule breakers in every group and you cant do much if they arent caught doing it. Having a publicized position, like that of a prefect, makes it easier for you to know whom to "avoid" when doing said acts. However, I would hope that if this were an ongoing group, another member could feel comfortable enough to approach the said "captain" if they feel they are having a problem with the "trouble makers actions" be it being distracting or directed at them so that the captain could talk privately with the offender. Again if the offender continues their behaviour they should fall under the same guidelines as though who got violent."

"A good captain should have some level of confidence but really its the trust they give to the members they lead and organize so that it is a safe and pleasant place to be. At least that is what I would want."

She tilted her head and smiled.

SORRY EDIT!!

When Ms. Kerr gave her a bag of nuts she smiled. "I EARNED NUTS GUYS!!!" She held them up triumphantly. She was glad Ms. Kerr didnt take offense to her comments. "thank you" she said more quiet and sheepishly.

She continued to jot down key points from their conversation, wishing she had more colors to code her notes with. Everyone's attention was scattered, but she didn't mind the freedom of the informal setting. Poppy admired her rapidly filling pages; practicing calligraphy in her spare time last term instead of socializing had really paid off. "I wonder what the art supplies are for and what's available," she thought.

Kyros winked at Fable for her good questions and prize in nuts, happy that his friend was doing well in the workshop. "Congratulations, O Nut Bearer, Your Nuts shall light us to the way of knowledge." He said on a dignified, serious voice, a deadpan expression to hide his strong urge to laugh. He didn't want to disrupt the class that bad, but Fable's little outburst at receiving nuts was just to funny not to react.

He pondered slightly over her reply to give his own. "It's what I mean, that so-called troublemakers could disrupt the workshop or interrupt the other members in any way. Also, as a Captain you may lose the trust of those who expect you to deal with this kind of issue when you don't know how to act. A lot of this kind of personality types like to face authority figures to show their own domination, and I see that as a conflict that would hardly be solved with food or a time-out. Expulsion would be my pick." It would seem weird for a trickster like Kyros to vote for obedience to authority, but his mind was already sat on with him being the authority in said scenario.

When it came to his own question, he nodded diligently and restarted taking his notes. The different ways someone could learn from a workshop that didn't involve just listening and obeying was an interesting point he hadn't taken into account so far. The fact that he made a good question also made him feel proud of himself, the same daring smile still playing on his lips. Pondering over her discourse to Fable and her answer to his own question of authority and learning brough him a new question, and he raised his hand.

"Miss Kerr, can I ask another question? We spoke a lot about conflict so far, but how would you deal with the inner conflict of multiple people and interests you spoke so far? I mean, you said that any of us has their own interests and ways of learning and can take information from the workshop regardless of a structure, but how can one as a Captain be sure not to end up neglecting someone? Should the Captain just wait for the students to come, or proactively offer help?" He stopped for a moment, blushing slightly. "Sorry if I'm delaying the start of the lecture..."

"Some of these hypotheticals are getting ridiculous," she contemplated, as she took a break from her note-taking. She was eager to hear more varied questions and Ms. Kerr's insight on something new. Moving quietly, Poppy rose to get a snack to keep herself occupied. She recognized that she herself was getting irritable and bored, partially from hunger.

A silver urn held steaming hot chocolate that smelled like just the thing to give her a lift. Poppy silently poured herself a generous cup and grabbed a small plate and a big piece of baklava. Now she would be able to refocus and have the patience to listen.

Eirik listened to what the nut lady had to say. He gave no indication of agreement or otherwise, simply paid attention when he was addressed. His inner thoughts on her answer...well, that was a completely different story.

Eirik was proud that his housemates were posing such good points and arguments. They both had level heads on their shoulders and would be valuable members of the Council. He leaned back and just smiled slightly, listening to them speak. He did chuckle when Fable got her nuts, and Kyros congratulated her.

In some weird way, he felt like he was watching his children grow. He wondered if his maker felt the same sense of pride toward him when he learned something new or excelled in a known subject. Either way, he was happy...and daydreaming, he realized...but he didn't care.

The Slytherins sure were talkative and he didn't mind thinking about the chance to talk with them again. Most seemed pretty nice. The boy was drawing as his eyes got droopier and droopier. And he started falling asleep. His pencil fell from his hand and his sketchbook closed as it hit the floor. A light breathing could be heard from the normally attentive boy. Maybe he should have told someone he wasn't feeling well? Maybe he should have laid down in the dorms instead of coming--though that idea would never occur to him because he almost always would choose people and activities.

Fable had gone back to listening and observing, she opened the bag of nuts and started to nibble. When Kyros had posed the question, putting himself into the authoritative position, she couldnt help herself but say, "I think a lot of people would try very hard to give you a dose of your own cheeky medicine!" she then chuckled and mimicked Kyros mischievous finger to cheek motion. Then smile to show she was teasing.

Eirik may have been proud of his fellow house mates, but he could also tell when they had enough, by their body language and more.

He leaned over and whispered to his friends "hey, you guys want to get out of here..? I can call an emergency session of our Council, and we could head back to the common room or wherever you want to go to. My attention span is...worse than limited..today."

Appreciating the upcoming questions of her housemates, Elizabeth listened carefully and took down the points she considered essential. She wasn't sure if she wanted to run a workshop because she hadn't made her mind up yet considering a possible topic. But she treated this workshop like a school lesson - perhaps the informations would come in handy later.

She smiled amused at Fable expressing her joy regarding the nuts and almost chuckled upon Kyros' comment to that. When Eirik leaned closer to the little group, she took a moment to think, then narrowed her brows. "I understand, but don't you think it would seem disrespectful?", she whispered back, "besides, think of how it would look if most of the Slytherins leave for a kinda secret Council meeting?" Elizabeth took a quick look around at the other students. "Though I must admit that I somehow like this idea. They might think we're up to something.", she added with a grin.

Eirik listened to Miss Elizabeth's concerns, then his eyes grew glittery with wickedness. "Exactly, " he whispered. "they will think we are organized and up to something..I mean, its what they always think anyway, why disappoint them...? and it gets us out of here."

She listened to the group. She had to admit she thought this would be something different for a workshop. She would feel bad leaving...but at the same time she didnt want to cause a distraction because she was bored. She leaned in and whispered. "Is it just me...our are you guys still unsure what the purpose is of the workshop? I thought with the conflict stuff out of the way and how to make a group we would move on...and I missing something? And if were leaving Im taking my beanbag." she said defiantly.

Eirik chuckled quietly at Fable's insistence that she take the bean bag with her. " No,"he whispered, " I don't think you are missing anything. I am about ready to go to ground and sleep until Monday..."

Whispering to the group, "I had considered rolling out under one of the sides of the tent...you know..after I maybe shrunk the beanbag...being all stealthy like. Im worried they are going to try and put me with a stranger to learn social skills or something next." A little terror shock moved through her glazed eyes. "As is I did not sleep well last night and this is starting to seem like a History of Magic class." she hissed out the last part because she was still a bit grumpy.

Eirik listened to Fable's fantasy and had to stop himself from laughing aloud. Then, as she began to look a bit freaked out, he considered the possibility of that happening himself.

"alright, but I am leaving in 15 minutes, with or without you all. I will excuse myself if none of you wish to follow me, and no hard feelings will be felt. " Eirik settled back in, and waited.

Poppy noticed Eirik's () good judgement and made a note of his skills of perception. Reading body language would be a personal goal to work on this term. She would stay put with Merlin, as representatives of Slytherin at the very least. Also, she wanted an opportunity to catch up with others outside of her house. There were some unfamiliar faces at the meeting as well.

Slytherin House had made a good showing and had been very vocal. Poppy wondered where some other prominent members of Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor were.

For the entire conversation so far about resolving conflict, Eros had remained quiet, not that it was any different from the usual for him. Eros hardly looked up at Lydia Kerr, but he didn't look bored or disinterested either. His ears were attentive to everything that was being said while eyes just focused down at the ground, his pen, or his notepad.
