Is she still missing or am I just being a blind idiot? Is it possible to make Hydrus pets at the moment? Because I'd really like to change Peter into a hydrus pet but can't seem to find Merana.
still missing, you are not blind or idiotic. We've seen a post at the start of the new year implying pretty strongly that she will be coming back soon.
The only way to get Hydrus right now is with a Miracle Potion. This is a really pricey way to get Hydrus, so it might be worth your while to wait until Merana resurfaces and consider that part of the price to pay.

Subeta can be pretty complicated and is always changing, so I have found myself doing the very same thing sometimes. Those of us who hang out in Help & Questions typically can answer something in less than an hour unless it's something very specific.
I don't believe you can get it with a Miracle Potion. I'll just quote myself from a post a few days ago:

It&;s kind of misleading to say that the Miracle Potion can change your pet into any available colour when it... can&;t.
I don&;t know if it&;s available in the loyalty totem (I don&;t have one so I can&;t check) but I&;m assuming that it&;s not, if it functions in the same way as the miracle potion.

When you say "soon", do you mean in the next 6 months or longer? I have a pet I want to make Hydrus and I don't mind waiting a couple of months but not forever.
I would think soon probably means at least within a couple of months. The event just happened towards the end of summer last year, so it made sense to have some time in between for her to do whatever she's doing now before showing up again with an update or something.
Fantastic, thank you. I changed the pet to the chosen species but just the common version. So if it was going to take 6months plus, I would have changed them to Blacklight while waiting. Which would have been fine also but it sounds like I just missed out on the even though.

any news on whether this is ready yet (Merana)?
She pops up randomly on the map for 12 hours at a time (you can't miss her when she's there, it's very obvious), and while she's out you can go make Hydrus pets and all that.
