Bio: Ariadne as always been a little abnormal, attributing the odd things that happened around her to her monochromatic eyes--and yes, they're real. She was made fun of at school, but here dad always made up for it by cooking her favorite meals and buying her books. She had never known her mom, as Mrs. Davenport had died in childbirth, but her dad had always told her stories of all the wonderful things her mom could do with her wand and magic.

There wasn't a prouder moment than when Ariadne had received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts on her 11th birthday. She writes back home to her dad often, and he always writes back promptly. While Adriadne always loves the fantastic things she learns and sees at Hogwarts, but she's always happy to go home for the holidays.

Personality: Ariadne is pretty happy for the most part--sweet, energetic, quick-tongued, kind, hardworking... all the traits of a model Hufflepuff. Blood Status: Half-blood, or believed to be so. Mac was raised in the USA, but her devoted mother moved to Britain with her so she could attend school at Hogwarts. When Mac got her letter to attend Hogwarts, Esmee begged money from her richer relations to move her daughter, so that she would get a good education.The richer relations provided the funds, but they also expect Esmee and Mac to be eternally grateful.

Special Ability:Seer. Mac is a gifted trance medium with strong psychic ability, but she is unable to recall anything that occurs while she is entranced. In fact, she rarely is aware that she has been in a trance at all. Her gifts can only be actualized if there is a witness who hears what she says. Because she is an outsider, Mac will need to work hard at making friends in order to reap any benefit from her talent.

Favorite Quidditch Team:Mac dreams of becoming a quidditch announcer. She has no favorite team, but idolizes several legendary quidditch announcers, most notably Myron ‘The Siren’ Gabbingsly.

Favorite Candy: Green Apple Jolly Ranchers, a disgusting artificially-flavored American commercial candy. Honeydukes either can not, or will not stock these unwholesome bright-green candies. Mac’s maiden aunt ships sacks of them to her with distressing regularity.

Favorite Prank/Joke: Mac can “throw” her voice through non-magical means. She likes to make chairs holler, “OUCH!” when someone sits down. To Mac, this is the height of funny, and for her, it never gets old. (Others do not generally agree with her)

Goals:Mac was raised in a shack on the Louisiana bayou. Her early poverty has made her materialistically ambitious, but she is not immoral or unethical, just very focused on the material aspects of success. Mac’s primary goal at this stage of life is to never return to the bayou. She is intrigued by various magical careers, but has not set her sights on her own goals. If pressed, she says that she might like to own a shop of International Magical Imports, but she is not sure how feasible this actually is.

Bio: Mac was born and raised in St. Cecelia’s Parish, Louisiana. She is used to a life of poverty deep in bayou country. She was raised mostly by her mother, Esmee. Her mother’s sister Honoree was also a force in Mac’s life. Esmee and Honoree are both untrained witches, and they filled Mac’s head with a lot of superstitious nonsense. Mac was raised to believe in powerful supernatural forces like Gods and demons. These odd beliefs have embarrassed her in front of the other students at Hogwarts a bit, but Mac is very clever, and quickly learned to keep her mouth shut about demons and the like to avoid being further ostracized. Mac is skilled at fishing, but is not permitted to fish in the lake at Hogwarts over obvious concern for her safety. But her early exposure to fishing and digging up bait means that Mac has no fear or revulsion for worms, bugs, or the like. She has a healthy respect for snakes, having been raised near several poisonous species. Mac’s childhood home was haunted by a duppy, a swamp ghost. The duppy just would drift through the shack from time to time, it did not speak or engage the family, so Mac has to remember to mind her manners with the Hogwarts ghosts, and speak when they speak to her. Mac does not know her father or his family at all, but she received the last name ‘Laveau’ from him. In a fit of whimsy, Esmee gave Mac the middle name of Marie, in honor of legendary Louisiana witch Marie Laveau. Mac assumes that she is no actual relation to the famous Marie Laveau. Mac and Esmee are close, but Mac enjoys her time at school away from her mother. As Mac has met other students, she has begun to realize just how backwards her mother is, and has begun to be a bit ashamed of her. Mac usually chooses to remain at Hogwarts over school vacations when possible.

Personality: Mac is driven and bright. She often seeks out extra schoolwork just to satisfy her curiosity. Mac is often a bit shy around the other students, but mainly because she has been raised alone, and is unused to companionship. She is friendly, but in an awkward way, perhaps remembering her early embarrassment caused by her mother’s odd teachings. But Mac is an astute observer of social situations, and rarely makes the same mistake twice. Mac is very tall and rail-thin. She grew tall very suddenly, and still is a bit uncomfortable with her height. Mac is a sucker for any type of magical hair-care product and will try anything at least once. In general Mac is fairly well adjusted, but her childhood in the swamp has left her a bit mistrustful of full sunlight, and wide open spaces. These are not insurmountable challenges to Mac, but she is never completely comfortable with them either. Mac laughs with abandon.
