My side of the family are mostly Irish Catholics, and My husband's are Norwegians of various faiths, so full family holiday gatherings practically require a convention hall. The volume and variety of food is downright intimidating. Of course someone always has to bring lutefisk..., shudder.

I celebrate christmas with my family. But on 21 december, I celebrate Yule with friends. I love seeing everyone again. And as long as it doesn't rain, we will have a campfire in the backyard and brew tea (or wassail) on it :D

I'm not religious, but I still celebrate Christmas (for the presents :P). My favourite things about Christmas are giving people presents and seeing their reactions, eating cherries!! and just catching up with friends and family.

Hai, lovely~ My family and I celebrate Christmas. Probably my favorite thing about the holidays though is something we all share. I loooove the goodies! By that I don't mean the presents [even though those are nice], I'm talking about food, mmm! I enjoy all the dinners, whether they be small or big, and getting to share all the yummy things with family/friends. So much fun~

Happy early Hanukkah! :) I personally don't know anyone in my circle that celebrates the Festival of Light, but I remember learning about it through watching The OC and seeing the Cohen family celebrate Chrismukkah. Still one of my fave TV shows of all time :P Our family celebrate Christmas by having a family dinner on Christmas eve, listening to cheery Christmas music and watching the telly until midnight. Then the next day we are likely to head out to the park or beach or go on a small half-day road trip somewhere closeby. We live in New Zealand so it's summertime here during December! I personally celebrate Yule, the winter Solstice. Usually it's broken into two different nights, one on the weekend before the 21st, as a religious holiday with my coven, and then the 21st itself, which is family time and when we exchange gifts. For the religious part, my favorite is all the singing we do, songs to welcome back the sun and celebrate the lengthening of days and shortening of the night. We all did little crafts to exchange with each other this year, and there was a new couple this year who couldn't make it to their usual group due to car issues who drummed for us. Family-wise, mom always makes a wonderful meal of a many little tapas courses, and it's also very nice to actually have my brother sit with us for dinner (he usually inhales his food and runs back to his room)

Sadly, I work retail, so I don't get very much holiday spirit this time of year; people are so nasty over stupid things, and it gets very disheartening. Not to mention while I do celebrate Christmas with my boyfriend's family, his grandfather always tries to start political arguments, which makes the whole thing rather foreboding :(

I'm not very religious but I do celebrate major Jewish holidays with my family (and Christmas, since my Mom's Catholic and Dad's Jewish). While I do love lighting the menorah, my favorite part of the season has to be latkes. Can't get enough of them! A crispy latke with applesauce sounds amazing right now.

I missed Yule, but I still sent something anyway. I hope you had a great Solstice with your family! It sounds like y'all have a lot of fun and it is always really special! I understand the lack of holiday spirit, as I too work in retail. (Today was Monday Madness, the day after Christmas where everyone was returning stuff or using their gift cards and driving me crazy. Lol.) Hopefully, wherever you work, things will calm down in the retail department and we can get some much needed peace before Valentines day. :D
