I got a really awesome surprise today. I went to a specialty market and couldn't find the herb I wanted... but one of the gardeners in the new garden I'm part of works there and introduced me to her boss. She explained I liked exotic things so her boss got me two types of plants and gave them to me for free :D Some "blue" tomatoes that are such a dark blue they are almost black :o Some climbing spinach... I hope this one works out in the garden since I've had a tough time with regular spinach and I love spinach so much! I was able to also get some fun plants... yellow cherry tomato, red basil, chocolate mint, African basil (makes pretty blue flower). Iz zam happy! :D

I've been told the climbing spinach leaves become pretty big... looking forward to seeing what it's capable of.

At the botanical garden outing a while ago I bought an interesting plant... Chufa aka Tiger Nut aka Earth or Ground Almonds. It's a tuber (root type of seed) that has a mildly sweet and nutty taste :D I managed to plant it Fri in my new garden.

Fri was a big day... went to my current secotor's ecological place that's in charge of my garden that's near my current place. I had 5 large pots set aside for me. It was tough getting there and out since the road is under heavy construction.

I then went to the food bank since they changed schedules and winded up Tues facing a closed building with no food for my helper to cook the next day... urgently did groceries with Autistic Educator the next morning so my helper had stuff to make in the afternoon. I managed to get food but it'll be a scheduling nightmare that's getting more complex.

After lunch, I took a nap... then went to a post office near the new garden. To my dismay, they offer half service and couldn't send the letter I had to send that day... not a day before or after as there are legal consequences: Legal letter allowing to break lease 2 months after it is sent due to moving into subsidized housing. As I have to pay the entire month's rent of July, had to wait till the 31st.

So... one of the main gardeners that volunteers a lot (the man is retired) offered to drive me to a post office that did registered mail... took him up on the offer. We then went back to the garden... by the time I got home it was 9:30 pm. Ate supper and went to bed soon after but woke up way too early.

It's going to be a busy busy summer B)
