If I remember right it's an old Prussian or Silesian dish ^^ It's a combination of two german words: Bauern (farmer) and Tunke (old word for sauce) You cook a huge piece of smoked pork chop in water with diverse herbs for about ... 4 hrs? After half of the time, add some knackwurst to it so the sausages will be cooked, too Afterwards, atfer removing the pork chop and sausages from the water, you add under constant stir flour to it, until the 'Tunke' has its creamy consistency In a soup plate you rip one or two slices of bread, pour some TUnke over it, pick knackwurst and/or pork chop to it and just enjoy it We eat this traditionally with sauerkraut This is so freakin delicious and always special as we only can enjoy it at chirstmas
We have some pretty basic ones in Hungarian, but I'm always on the lookout for new ones, even in English. Me and my decorate the tree together the day before Christmas, and we usually sing a few carols while doing so. :) If you're interested, here's an example (the song is basically about what the angel told the shepherds about the birth of Jesus).

Haha I more meant like inside jokes and family stories. My dad always tells the same couple of funny stories from when he was little when we are around other people. One of my favorites involves ice cream and raw hot dogs.

Haha sure thing we've got some mulled wine, actually if you buy bottles of mulled wine in shops like Aldi it's soooooooo much cheaper than at the traditional christmas makets so a lot of young people just pour a bottle or two into a pot and heat it up at home before they go there and save themselves lots of money (: Though I stopped drinking alcohol 10 months ago so there won't be any mulled wine or eggnog for me this season :/

Hygge sounds really lovely!
Have a very merry Birthday! :)
I'm a sucker for elegant decorations too. In fact if I could I'd probably buy mine by display or have someone put it together for me. Well maybe not all of it but ya know sometimes displays are so well thought out.
oh I love baking this time of year as well, it serves my house as a double purpose - yummy food and keeping us toasty warm!
I actually slotted on it before she did the different base options so I had a spare when the time came!
I didn't know the Queen did a speech for Christmas. What does she say?
I love love gingerbread this time of year! In fact I have some gingerbread biscotti for my coffee.
oh thank you, and no need to gift me anything, really. Though if you did, thank you. ❤ Is Florida still warm even with the cooler temps sweeping across?
Merriment is important not only during the month of December but year round. :)
I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I also love how this time of year tends to bring out the extra feels of merriment and friendliness among everyone :)
