Yay! I survived! It was a lot of kids, but I had them in small enough groups, I think I did rather well. Only one group didn't listen very well, so not bad overall. To answer , the kids get to choose their book; I would go crazy trying to wrap them all. I never know what they're most interested in at the time, so I just lay out a bunch of books, at their reading levels, on a table and let them pick one.

My one regret is I think I need to teach them how to say THANK YOU! One lovely child said it to me. Out of all the 80+ kids. sigh But I love them all anyways!

I have tutored/supervised and assisted hundreds of kids. The ones that say Thank you are so special! The kind ones stick out from the crowd. This year I have a new one: gratification delayer. I have never met a kid like this. Saves all his "good merit" notes that I give them to cash in for marbles or candy. He said he has about 60 already!
