Stories from the Classroom So we're doing a narrative writing assignment. The 2nd graders are supposed to write what they remember from last year during Thanksgiving. I'm going around trying to help students with their writing, when I had to have one boy read his out loud to me because, honestly, it looked like a bird had dipped its feet in ink and walked all over his paper. Horrible handwriting!

He told me he remembered everything from last year because he was woken up to a loud knocking on their door. His mom opened to door to a lot of people on their porch. The people had brought them a turkey already cooked and lots of other food. There was even a pie! With whipped cream! His mom was really happy even though she was crying.

This being said, I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who donates during the holidays. It really does make a difference.

Donations were sometimes the only food we got then, I feel just as content when I can do the same. I still use an oversized coat I got ages ago.

One recurring act we do is allow a neighbor to come a few times a week to take water to their more remote home.

In the last few months I've elected to drop some old habits and fandoms. Anything from said former interest that are unopened go to the toy drives. Anything else was donated to second-hand stores.

I still have quite a bit, but for now my nieces reap that redux.

I started at 10:00 (noon SBT) this morning, and I finished at 15:30. I would have finished earlier, but my mother called me at noon because she locked her keys in her truck.

In appreciation, she's making lentil soup. And for once its quiet here, no TV. I glad to have that.
