My hand got caught between a full baking rack and a holding rack while I was trying to put things away. A full baking rack is, in this case, over half my body weight and the holding rack was just a very sturdy object getting in the way. I've been icing the injury off and on since it happened and the swelling's almost gone now. Mostly it's just really bruised and sore but I've got a list of doctors I can go to if it doesn't get better and I need to claim Workman's Comp. I am a very small person who often takes a lot of damage so the fact that I have multiple days off during which to recover from this incident is a huge bonus. I just wish my cats would stop trying to sit on my bruises.
Definitely look into workmans comp, your entitled to it. The cats know your hurt, they are trying to make you feel better in their own way. Unfortunately, and little weight probably hurts. If your in pain take some pain medicine, that will help during the recovery. If pain medicine doesnt work, you need to get some prescribed pain meds from a dr.
I'm on prescription anti-inflammatory/pain medication for my medical condition so that helps a little with these kinds of things. If the bit of swelling I've got left doesn't go away, I'll be heading to the nearest accepted clinic just to make sure it's not worse than it seems. I've had to use the company's comp program before and they're a little irritating but they're ultimately good about making sure everything gets covered.
I will check with Laurie for an update y'all. It's kind of late tonight. I'll shoot her a text and if she's still up I'll here back.

Have had the same fear and don't know where to turn for the correct answer. ATrueHeart Thank you so much, had my heart in my throat for too long.
Whatever's in Kaukauna cheese spread, it drives the cats nutso. It's been years since I thought to buy some so the younger one has never seen it before. Not as much as catnip, but boy did they really want some.
Ok... Laurie texted me back with a brief message: She's working on some files and if she gets done she will check in here tonight. Just in case she can't she said to tell y'all she is trying to get a woman out of federal holding before Christmas.

Thanks for the update on Laurie! I am worry about her tribe being out in freezing temps they can be brutal.
she's a bear when it comes to research. She'll find something. She lost her meter to check her blood sugar but is still doing her insulin. Told her to find it and take care of herself.

We have cats everywhere. My husband said he doesn't want to feed the myriad of cats who gather outside during feeding times. So this morning he tells me me a new one joined the ranks and has the loudest meowling ever. So I asked the question that has to be asked: "Did you feed it?" and he said "yeah, along with all the others". He is such an odd combination of cowboy and softie.
[edit] Thank you anonymous gifter! (from last week. I have been sick)
Are they your cats or a mix of strays and neighbours too? @
When I first moved to my current place, cats waited at my door all the time. I'm guessing the old man had a habit of feeding the neighbours cats haha n_n

Morning, bears! My hand's doing a lot better. Still trying not to use it too much but there's only one little lump of swelling left right in the middle of the bruising, which is pretty typical for all of my healing injuries. I have absolutely no obligations today so I'm just going to work on cleaning and decorating and generally taking it easy.
Bless your husband. My grandmother fusses at me all the time for feeding the local strays and barn cats but she really only puts her foot down about bringing any inside and even then if it's a kitten or its injured or something like that she'll let me bring it in long enough to find someone who can actually take care of it.
Some of them are mine in that they let me touch them and I took those to be neutered/spayed and given shots, but they are all outdoor cats as I am allergic to cat hair. There are a couple I would love to keep indoors. :(
He is a good guy, doesn't stress about all the money spent on the cat food, or all the cats running to the door (which can be very annoying). My daughter brought an orphaned kitten in a year ago. Just while it needed to be bottle fed, but we can't get the varmint to stop sneaking in whenever the door is open! She plays nicely with my dog though.
