thank you! I never feel like I'm good at making HAs. I feel like I need to learn how to layer better :/
If it helps, i asked a person for a critique of my ha's in a contest (Wayward Squirrels) because I couldn't understand why mine never got spotlighted. It was tough to read but some of the tips have seriously helped me up my game.
ooohh that's a good idea!
Break down on what I learned: Who is your person? Where is s/he going? Consider the setting as much as the person. If one doesn't fit, it clashes. Hair, background, skin tone, clothing--these all need to work together.
ooohh I get it! Makes sense!
-nods- I'd never really thought of treating skin tone as an element but now I do. My grey character can't wear some things the blue one can. Or like my current character (Sorn) he's a drow, so what would he be doing/wearing and thus what setting.
Sometimes I now go looking in the forgrounds and backgrounds to see which element will enhance. Most of the time now though, I pick one item or theme, build that and then look for a background that works.
ooohh I lIke that idea!
yeah it really changed a lot. That's kinda why I only do my rp characters now. I know what they like/where they would be going. Its like they are alive, have a story and thus everythign falls into place with more ease. I don't struggle as much now. It took awhile to work it out nad I looked at those guidelines a lot whilst building some of the HAs but now its almost second nature.
