I was always a little bummed when I couldn't save in Super Mario 3 (the rare occasions I made it far) My brother could race through worlds with ease and always made it farther than I did. He's the one who got me interested in gaming. He let me borrow his Gamecube and I made sure to get a memory card when I got games (I now have 3 memory cards). He also let me borrow his Sega Dreamcast and the games he had for it (mostly sports) He had one memory card but it didn't have enough room for my favorite game, and since it wasn't my system I wasn't going to delete anything from the memory cards. I don't know how many times I started Skies of Arcadia over to see how far I could get in the game before calling it a day. I now own both of those systems myself so I no longer have to worry about not saving. We are spoiled now-a-days with systems saving game memory on the system. However, I lost some game saves for a few games (Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition) when my husband installed a larger hard drive on our PS4.

I don't know if I would every be comfortable having a flat screen t.v. mounted on the wall. Its gets too windy here and I would be afraid that a strong of wind would shake the house enough to make it fall. Its always nice to get something second-hand that still works perfectly well. I only like the smell of coffee, I've never drank it. I did make the mistake once of asking for a double hot chocolate at Starbucks. Ended up with coffee in my hot chocolate (gross!). Its so confusing with coffee shops around here and how they describe their sizing. One has single, double, or triple for small, medium or large drink, while others it how much coffee you want.

Easy to clean surfaces, especially in a bathroom and kitchen will be a must. I'm not looking forward to scrubbing the kitchen or bathroom walls at my duplex. My parents' house has mold in the basement and I think some spots are black mold. They had a terrible contractor when they had the house built, so there was no quality control with the construction crews. There has been so much that we've had to do ourselves and I don't know how many times the basement has flooded due to improperly sealed windows.

I don't think any more cash will be found at my grandmother's house, unless it is stuffed in boxes that we haven't looked through yet. However any cash that has been found has been divided up between my dad and his 3 brothers. Most of the weird lost things have had too many mice running around them....or they are found sitting amongst a pile of mouse poo.

Its getting harder to find good deals at thrifts here too, antique stores as well. The thrift stores that used to have good deals have had younger people start working and they've upped the prices on some items. I was in an antique store a few days ago and the prices were a little ridiculous. $9 for a jadeite salt shaker, but its other half was missing, $3 for a red-coated Pyrex refrigerator dish without its lid, and $4 for a blue-coated Pyrex dish that had the blue coming off in spots and was dirty. I have a pretty large collection of things that I've bought myself or got from my grandmother. I'm going to have to figure out how I'm going to display it all. It may have to be a rotational display for some things.

My break has been pretty enjoyable, aside from the cold weather returning again. My leg hasn't bothered me as much, but there have been a few days where I had to walk with a noticeable limp to avoid pain. I'm trying to be more active because I want to lose some weight (I've got a little extra around my stomach and thighs). Its aggravating that I can't bike to the park and play tennis on the nice days, or work with my horse, because the bruise is in just the right spot that it would be resting against a saddle.

I think I missed out of the TS restock, however that's been my luck for the past few TS restocks. I'm lucky if I can manage to nab 2 items from one restock.

polishes glass The Tank does get a bit neglected during events! ;)

We're thinking of the both of you And wish you well in all you do Keep heart and know your kind support Makes sure the family love is brought ❤

I'm hanging on in there. Sent in another application, expires end of March, so fingers crossed, there's 2 I'm waiting on at the minute.

For any kind of baking/alchemy, we'll probably need a period of buying supplies (and checking vault!) checking the recipes/combos and then the actual doing.
Some planning involved, but doable, I think.

Let us celebrate mild hoarding!
xD

Though is planning a Sharkie event inbetween site holiday periods, so that will keep people busy too!

My niece is 5 and our friends kid is 3, they're the main ones who are around for games days. Luckily the grown-ups games are not always as interesting as Gooey Louie and Og On The Bog!
Not heard of that card game, will pass on to the gamer contingent!

He's busy this week too, so finding a garage to get a repair quote will be tricky. Luckily no more work travel but he's pulling an overnight shift (after doing a day shift) for technology updates.

Maybe we need a bunch of no-bake desserts for the bake sale instead, like those refrigerator cake bar things. Certainly save the oven based troubles!
xD

I am so glad the dance links are working better now. I know we always joke it's not an event without a technical snafu, but I think the combo of new wardrobe and new forums will make for interesting times!
Luckily Vesnali doesn't involve dressing up or skins like Survival, so maybe that will be smoother.

Old gaming systems made for hard-core, 'long playing time in one go' type gamers. You really had to invest time. We are definitely spoiled, but it's much better in so much as games are more accessible to casual players, frustration at 'nearly getting there' is a bit less, etc.
But respect to old school players.

Oh being able to have multiple save games for dfferent people is another great advance.
But, yeah, the age old not enough memory problem is ongoing. We're in the terabyte world now!

It's weird, a lot of people we know have wall mounted TVs over the fireplace. So they're looking up all the time. I really can't see the appeal, surely sore necks are a problem?
If the walls wobble enough, a fall is a possibility and TVs are too pricey or that.

Think I can agree with not mixing hot drinks - isn't a mocha choc and coffee? Bit out there for me! xD Oh, it's getting to be almost as crazy with coffee places here, sizes, shapes, extra shots... I'll bring my own cup, just put something in that!

Mould is so annoying and so hard to shift. I guess that's something to really push for in your building project, getting the basic structure safe, sealed and secure! Peace of mind that there's not yucky stuff growing in the basement is worth it.

My other half was doing a house clearance for an aunt of his one time, and found tins and tins of sardines and processed peas stockpiled in random places all around the house.
The mice clean up crew is kind of a self defeating concept with all that poop.
:p

That's a big complaint of mine too, second hand shops selling on dirty or broken things. A little quality control goes a long way, and will encourage more people to use your shops!
If you have different coloured items in the collection, you could have seasonal themes on display?

Thank goodness the leg is improving a bit. At least you can look forward to doing a few more of the active things as it gets better. Is there anything low-impact, like upper body exercises you might be able to comfortably do to help general fitness in the meantime?

Yeah, back in the day (!) I would often catch 3 items during the TS restocks, something seems tweaked and I can usually get 2 max since last year.

Going to enjoy the free shop whilst we can!

- keep sending in applications to anything that looks reasonable. And, if you have any sort of connection, have your application personally walked in so that it is sure to be read. Networking with friends, acquaintances and family members can help find job opening and help get you an interview for them as well. Sometimes the key is just a combination of networking and persistence. Good Luck!

Celebrating - here's to us hoarders! You never know when we might come up with something useful that everyone else threw away. :-)

At 5 and 3 all sorts of things are more interesting than the grown-up games, although the adult game pieces can be a target. :-) OMG - hadn't heard of either of those games - yuck! gross! - perfect for small kids. Those two are certainly too young to join in most of your game play, but they could with a little help play Cosmic Wimpout or Martian Dice with the adults for a change of pace. And there is always Crazy Eights (or Uno) and things like Go Fish. Somewhere I have a fish shaped deck of Go Fish cards but they are old and I don't even know if anyone makes them like that anymore.

They're also at the Play Dough (homemade and/or bought) and Duplo/Lego age.

No bake cakes are an option if your oven isn't working well. There are a few good microwave cake recipes too, but you need to have a good microwavable cake pan of some sort.

Yay for dance links working. The lag isn't too bad, although it sometimes makes me confused about what I am doing what has already been done.

Vesnali - not ready to think about that yet! :-) And don't forget Elwood Day is coming up in just a few days.

Subeta may have issues when the big events happen, but I am so impressed by how they address them. And you have to admit, it always keeps things interesting. :-)

climbs back in the Tank So much dancing, I should have got comfort fin-shoes...

whispers I have an interview next week! Not going to get too hyped - it's a field I haven't worked in before and I know some of the other applicants have, but they're prepared to give me a computer skills test & interview, so I'll have a try.

Yay, hoarding finds! It's a fun sense of pride when someone goes 'Has anyone got...?' and you can just go 'Of course!'. xD

I think we've got a Simpsons version of UNO that the kids have used before for gaming. We are all over Lego with my niece, currently on building cars and a house for some conkers (horse chestnuts) she collected last year! The fish shaped deck sounds great, novelty things like that would appeal to the grown ups too. My niece tried Zombie/Chupacabra Dice (the other kid is more 'stuff in mouth' stage still) and managed one game before wanting to take everyone's dice and arrange them in 'family groups' (matching colours or pictures)!

My sister's gone back to the cup cakes, she seems to have better control over those! I think those silicon cases can be microwaved?

The free shop is fun even with my bad luck, and the dance links have been great. Very happy the event is being extended too, it's good to have longer events to help people who are working or can't be on all the time.

As my other half works supporting tech systems, I have a lot of sympathy for staff wrangling the site. We're doing much better now and freebies too? Works for me!

There is a day A special time To celebrate the man

Who gives the wood And Pizza too As only Elwood can... :p

That's great. Getting in the door for an interview is a great step in the right direction. And if you have the skills to pass their test and they like you, that can be more important than having already worked in the field. Good Luck. Let me know how it turns out.

Haha - I guess you are a more organized hoarder than I am. I usually am the one who can't find things because there are too many of them. :-)

Sounds like you have the kids pretty well occupied for now.

Subeta staff really does do a great job. I have a computer science background and spent time doing software development., so I really appreciate what they are able to get done.

And who wouldn't enjoy the Free Shop? (hope you have found a few exciting things there) Token Shop too for today, and Elwood Day tomorrow. Yay!

Sorry for my absence. It's been a really long week, glad its the weekend. Mass Effect Andromeda came out last week and I've been playing that in the evenings. Hubby has drill this weekend, so its going to be a long weekend.

I always spent most of the evening and weekends playing games. That's when I made the most progress in the non-saving games or the games I didn't have a memory card to save to. Now, I don't always want to spend an entire weekend playing a video if I have other things that need to get done.

And systems having multiple accounts on them to keep game saves separate for each player is nice as well. The hard drive we put in our PS4 is a terabyte. I'm not sure if its just 1 TB or if its larger, but we've maybe used a quarter of the space on the drive with game data and saves.

I would have a sore neck if I had to look up all the time to watch TV. However, there is no comfortable way to watch TV while lying down. I'm comfy for about 10-15 minutes then I have to move. TVs are still really expensive. My husband and I spend two days looking at TVs before we purchased one, mainly due to the prices.

I think a mocha is chocolate and coffee, and if it tastes anything like hot chocolate with coffee, it might not be good. It would be great if I could just bring my own cup and have it filled with the drink that I want. I have an aunt and uncle that send me a Starbucks gift card every year for my birthday. I think I have 3 at the moment, two are still full and 1 has less than $2 on it. I only get hot chocolate at Starbucks, but if they have good desserts I get those too, like croissants filled with chocolate. But I have to be careful with what size of hot chocolate I get at some coffee shops, because if they are made with milk then I can't drink too much or my stomach will hurt.

My husband told me we are going to be really picky about who we hire to build our house and we won't be hiring the crew that build my parents' house. However, my husband and I are going to try and do some things ourselves that don't require a professional. I want to have a basement that stays bug free and spider free. I hate spiders now after killing over 100 spiders in a month years ago (most in the basement, but all in the house).

My grandmother had food stockpiled in the kitchen, the mudroom and in the basement. Over break I helped clean out the freezer in her house because the power had been turned off for a few weeks (ice storm caused wires to jostle loose or something, so the meter was reading high usage). There was food in the freezer from at least 40-50 years ago. There was chicken that was freeze-dried, it had been frozen so long. The water from all the melted ice was black, but I think that was mostly from the mulberries in the freezer. There are mouse traps set up all over the house and mice are still being caught. The other issue with the house is the high number of flies that have found a way in and die.

The local Goodwill in town needs to implement some quality control and better training. They have a bin of power cords that they've separated from electronics that have been donated. I don't know how many electronics I've found that I was interested in, but they didn't have a cord and I didn't feel like digging through a bin. My husband found an orignal Xbox and a PS2 but neither had cords. Another issue is customers who steal items from the thrift shop if its small and came in a box. They take the item and leave the box. Most of the collectibles I've gotten from my grandmother are clear glass or milk glass. I got some chickens and swans as well. One of the clear glass sets that I got have roses on them and they look really pretty. It's been over a year since I looked at any of the things I got. I need to go through and determine if I want to keep everything or not.

My leg was doing better, then this week took a down turn. My leg has been painful every day of the week and its bothersome to walk again. Monday it was visibly swollen again. I think my husband also forgot that he needed to be careful around my leg after I was gone for a week, because he bumped it a few times in bed at night, Once it stops raining, my husband and I could go to the park and throw a softball or baseball around. It would get us moving at least.

I think the TS restocked for a longer period in the past, most than just a day or two and that's why we could nab more than one item. I've missed the first day of some of the most recent TS restocks by a day and I always find the shop empty. I did manage to grab the mask today, I've had it on my wishlist for awhile.

remembers the main Tank D'oh. I always do this during events...!

Congrats on the name grab! Super lucky to catch it.
Hopefully the germs will be gone soon.

Interview is tomorrow - immediately before I am going out for my birthday! I will do my best to remain calm. And keep applying for other stuff, just in case.

I'll claim to be moderately organised. More than that, I will deny! xD

Yeah, it's always a fine line between telling people what's going on in the 'back office' and being busy trying to fix stuff, so you can't really be chatting about what you're trying to do to fix it... Complexities!

Loved the Elwood items, (pizza) cheesy, but still very wearable.

Missed the TS though, which was a shame as the new item looked nice.

Taking some time today to fix up some of my broken/needs modifying jewellery. I use clip earrings, and sometimes buy the pierced ones with a view to change the backs. So, out with the findings and pliers!

BHH is in a good mood today: Nice!

(Comments is being weird on my tiny screen (possibly because the message is long, shorter ones seem to load), so will reply there once it's behaving!)

Oh, no worries, and at least the game playing is a nicer way to pass the time. How is the game, by the way, my other half is debating getting it, even though he's still messing about with the DLC from Fallout 4! We've not made it to Nuka world with all the distractions...

Thank goodness for save games is all I can say. It does work out well that games went in that direction - I think many of us started gaming when we were younger - no work commitments or house & home & family commitments - so longer game playing was the norm. And probably made reaching the actual save points that some games had realistic!
Multi player options are so much improved too, what with split screen, online and so forth.

Yeah, big appliances are still a big chunk of cash. I am glad companies have stopped pushing 3D tvs again though. Never saw that as a good thing - you might manage it for a cinema trip, but at home it's more of an eye strain!

Never tried it, not sure I would like to!
Is it dairy milk that's the issue? I know over here some coffee places are offering vegan milk substitutes as part of their lower calorie drinks.
Nice to have a treat gift voucher!

Oh, it's definitely worth getting it right first time, especially with important things like the electrics. You want to be confident in your house and the structure - no one needs to be worrying 'what will go wrong next'. Picky is the way!
You have accidently become a trained exterminator! xD

Whilst I am all for retro and vintage, vintage food does not sound so appealing! Sorting out freezers is bad enough when you go through them fairly regularly, as there's always something thet gets forgotten in a back corner...
Hopefully removing the food items will discourage the mice and the flies. Ew. Cleaning up is certainly a big job.

Separating the items from their power cords? Someone has a very goofy way of trying to sell items, electrics need to plug in! Ah, humans and their sticky fingers... if it's not nailed down, someone will try and take it. And even super cheap things, and from shops giving support to charities... Grr.

You will have to see which of the glass things are in good condition and which appeal to you. You're more likely to have them displayed and 'in use' if it's stuff you like.

Sorry to hear about the leg setback. I think it must be a common injury to re-aggrivate as my mum's friend took another tumble on hers too! Maybe it's because it's such a used body part.
Hoping for improvement. :)
Yeah, anything to just get going and keep moving will be a good start.

Congrats on the mask! Missed the TS this time. Wonder if the timings will be tweaked and changed again at some point? Though if most people get something from the current timings, maybe not.

Finally had some luck with the Masks shop, got the one I wanted!

Away tomorrow for birthday stuff and general 'getting older'. :p

Hope everyone is doing OK.

I just gave up and went to bed since I couldn't do anything to get it working. sigh It's back-ish on today and I'm waiting for the tech guy to show up now. I'm going to be really mad if they forget to come or push the appt back. Three plus weeks of this is driving me nuts.

It may not have been just your internet last night, apparently Subeta in general was super slow for the last hour or so of the event (at least from what I heard, I went to bed before then lol). But the dances you missed should still be in the queue when it starts again next year, so you should be able to return them all then ~

Thanks for all the dances, Sharks. As much as I love Masq, it's exhausting being online so much and dancing. Guess Vesnali is next. Not my fav Sub holiday as the wearables are usually pale frilly stuff. But I have lots of coins in my vault from last year so I can buy any of the new items I want right away. :) Any Sharks in need of trinkets?

I was on till the end and it was s...l...o...w! So many people trying to finish dances and get last ones in. Tried to do quests and even that was a pain. At least now we can rest.

Pretty exhausted, had to get up early since they're testing the fire alarm. Wasn't sure if it was the fire department so tried to stuff and hide things in case they needed to come test all the alarms including in bedroom. Well, it was the system guys not fire department and they just checked the one near the front door lol. Hopefully energy will get back up in a few weeks in time for the bunny/flower event.
