Thanks everyone for the congrats :D
The landlord issue still isn't over (grumbles). We were supposed to get the written offer from his lawyer & still waiting. Hopefully next week (earlier the better) I'll be able to sign and put the issue to rest x.x
If all goes well, parents will visit Father's day :)
I will do my best lol. Summer heat is hitting already. I am such a weather wimp!!!
Awe :( that really stinks. I hate waiting. Especially if it is something that important.
- two words for you for summer - air conditioning! (And if that fails, swimming!!! I love to swim when it's hot out.)
- we'll hope to hear more good news from you early in the week then.
I have never been a good swimmer :( I just flop around in the water a little bit lol. I practically live in front of our little air conditioner.
- you don't have to actually swim (although it doesn't hurt if you know how) - just get into all that nice cool water and relax!
Wish I could some times, but our stupid city shut down our pool again :( when I was a kid we had a good sized outdoor pool. Then the city spent a ton of money to build one that was inside the rec center. They shut it down a couple of times and ended up reopening it, but then they sold the whole rec center to some company and they shut down the pool again! Very annoying! Especially since they used so much tax payer money to build the dang thing.
- that is a real shame. I don't really like indoor pools - especially when it's warm enough to be outdoors. We are lucky to have a wonderful pool very nearby - we actually have two. Used to spend lots of time there in the summer.
When I was a kid I used to swim in the lake.
I loved our outdoor pool when I was a kid. It wasn't huge, but it was fun for us. Once a year they would drain out the water and put fresh water in. Then they would dump a bunch of fish in it and have a fishing contest. I never caught one lol.
It's super annoying :S Because I'm on full time disability I can only have a certain amount in the bank account at all times otherwise I risk losing my revenue. With the settlement, I will have to spend the amounts before the end of the month. It's supposed to be 2 payments, one at signing and one when I move. I'll have about 1/2 month to spend the first and then about a week to spend the last since I'm planning on moving July 22nd.
The more I wait, the more stressful it will be. Plus, without the guarantee of the funds, I'm in limbo and can't spend x.x
Pools... had one when I was a teen & loved the water. As I got older, I got more finicky. It was warm here and normally I would have put the air conditioner on but I was working right where I would normally put it so I just endured.
Take care :)
That really sux. It is a shame to be penalized for trying to save money! They act like "if you don't spend it then you don't need it". I have dealt with that lousy way of thinking too.
Ahhhh it is 91 degrees today and the humidity is 40%!!!! I am baking :( We are going to have a crappy summer! Is it Fall yet?!?
Yes, the system penalizes the poor just for being poor. If you want benefits, insurance or just to stay in certain housing you end up storing money is places other than the bank for you to qualify. Most poor people's money is in their home or their wallet because they can't go over the limit on paper without tax rises or risking to lose necessary help. My family and families near me would be kicked out of our apartments for "not being poor enough" yet we don't net the income to maintain ourselves elsewhere. We lost food stamps a little before I completed HS. Right now our savings are depleting.
Personal anxiety with the inevitable day of applying for a passport settling in.
Speaking of baking...
Cake contest you guys~~~ :)
Yeah I know how that goes :(
Ugh I stink at baking contests. The cakes taste good. They just aren't very pretty to look at lol.
For the baking contest I didn't see any mention of any kind of participation award, as with past contests, like a title or something. So I probably won't bother with this since I work full time and just don't have time to spend on it knowing we don't get anything unless we win. But the questathon is cool! :D I do 4 of those quests every day any way, will have to find time to do a few of the others as well.

No worries, I wasn't online much of last week. Got most of the kitchen packed up in one day and I've spent the rest of the week going through things in my room at home to get it ready for two people to share. I've been boxing up a lot of books and collectibles so that I can use the space for other things. As well as going through my 2 dressers and my closet, which I may have to go through again to ensure I've got enough space.
It took me about 4 days to recover from the migraine and dehydration. I started doing well and then I would feel worse in the evening. I got tired of drinking water but knew I couldn't stop. My finger is feeling better, though it is still swollen. I've switched to using a smaller splint and at times no splint, but I have to be careful because bending my finger too fast causes some discomfort. I'll be able to relax once my husband is home and we have everything moved. I didn't get the job that I applied for. I found out on Friday by email and got a phone call today about it. I spent a few days thinking that was a complete waste of time and energy. I'm putting the job search on hold until late July or early August since I need to finish moving and things get really busy on the farm in the summer what with pasture maintenance and wheat harvest. I'd prefer to just work on the farm but my parents think I should have a job in town.
I think my dad compared my packing skills to Tetris once when he watched me pack my pickup. I never though of 3-D puzzles...that would be what the bed of my pickup looked like when I moved back home for the summer one year. I had things hanging off the side and things piled up. I wouldn't say I'm at expert level at the moment. The last load of things that I moved home was just a single layer in the vehicle my mom drove and piled in a little haphazardly in my pickup.
I have a hard time parting with fabric. I think I have 3 storage tubs full (maybe more). I had hopes of starting some quilts but I just never had the room in the duplex. The craft supplies that I've been parting with have been beads (mainly plastic beads) and other jewelry supplies. I just to make jewelry with beads, but switched to making chainmaille. My jewelry supplies have gotten a little out of control, so I need to finish going through the beads and slimming down the stash. I take the craft supplies that I no longer want to a thrift store, so I know someone else will make use of it.
Most of the spiders I've been finding right now are brown with the fiddle shape on their back, which tells me they might be a brown recluse. But I've read that brown recluses have 3 sets of eyes instead of 4. There's no way I'm sticking my face close enough to a spider to check their eyes because "Hey Mr. Spider, I just need to check how many eyes you have." is not going to work, so I just squash 'em.
The school I worked at had tornado drills, but they were only once a semester, and I think they actually only had one tornado drill during the past school year.
He will, he's a really great guy. The duplex is in a really nice area, so I think even if there wasn't someone already lined up, there would still be people interested.
There indeed is less rain and more sunshine, but there's also more wind, which I could do without.
- I didn't see a participation prize, either, so I'll probably pass. I'm not a very good cook or artist.
How's everyone doing with the quests? I'm skipping battle quests this week to do more of the regular quests.
I'm probably going to pass on the baking contest too, not due to the lack of prizes. I can make a tasty cake, but I can't decorate one to save my life (especially now with a broken finger). And I'm in the process of moving, so designing a cake is a low priority.
I completed all my quests last night with about 4 minutes to spare before they reset. I also bought a week gold account so I can do more quests this week, I'm going to try and work on quests throughout the day today whenever I take a break from cleaning and packing.
Super busy, quickly dropping by.
Similar boat... moving July 22nd, need to downsize (grumble, stress, whine, sniffle) but it's for the best.
Managed to do all related quests yesterday & today (10 X 10 = 100/day X2= 200 total for now). No gold acc so I only can do 10, but it's ok, I do what I can.
My husband and I have to be moved out of the duplex we've rented for 2 years by the end of this month. I've moved maybe a 1/3rd of our things out by myself because my husband has been in California for a month with Guard training. He gets back Thursday and then we'll be in full packing mode. I've been trying to slim down the amount of things we're taking with us. We need to figure out what we are doing with some of the furniture that we don't want (try and sell it or just donate it). My hubby and I are moving in with my parents until we build a house, and I've spent the past week cleaning my room, packing things in boxes and bagging up items to take to the thrift store. I'll be tired of seeing boxes by the end of this month. Good luck with your move, and I hope the issues with your landlord are resolved soon, that should remove some of the stress.
I'm halfway done with quests today. Only got a gold account because I had the CS credits and they've been sitting around for a year, so I might as well use it on something.
I haven't thought of anything for the contest either. The news says you don't have to bake.
You and your dad would enjoy our food and TP hall, I mean -- pantry. :)
The spiders in my Apt are useless, they've failed to deter the rest of the pests. I kept them alive and moved them into kitchen cupboards to give them a feast!
It's summer so hopefully we have time to make stuff with our supplies.
The new bathhouse items are exciting. They released it at such a good time, it's hot and my skin hurts a bit today in rl.
