Thank you very much! Everyone I know is doing well so far that I know of. Matthew will probably be making his way up to Georgia in a couple of days. His outer bands are as far up to Jacksonville for right now.

I've never seen a hurricane, I imagine it's horrible!! Fingers crossed that these storms pass quickly with minimal damage.

It's about 2:30 AM at the moment; the storm hasn't made landfall yet but the east coast sure is getting some rain and wind. All is calm here, though. Just waiting for the next wave. 😦

I'm in Orlando now all wrapped up in blankets prepared for the worst as best I can. I live in an apartment and the landlord won't allow us to board up with wood so I have to just sit here waiting. I'm just glad Universal finally made the right choice to close I was so worried they expected me to come into work tomorrow.

Good news is my fridge and freezer are pretty much empty if we lose power bad news is I never want to look at another frozen pizza again.

Me neither for all the times I was in Florida ffffs. D: Then again, I didn't really stare out the window when the worst of it happened, you know? So I probably missed lightning sprites. xD They are so pretty and cool!

UGH the thing I hated was very low hanging clouds that looked like they were about to touch the ground. I remember staring out into our backyard and so many purple low clouds that looked like they were just in my backyard. t___t and people wonder why I have no inclination to go back to Florida, it's like try living with a property there, it's doable, but the stress ain't for everyone

I hope your uncle is fine. ;O; Trailer doesn't sound very safe.

the calm before the storm :C

My dog was totally sound asleep when he was a puppy when we got hit with the eye of a hurricane. He was such a sweetie. xD We felt so lucky, because we were all stressed out and he's like Imma sleep in your arms idk what you are going on about. Such an anomaly of a dog. (also great av!)

lol I would hope not. "Gee, hon, we have tomorrow off because of the hurricane. Let's go to the theme parks, aw yiss," said no one ever.

tragically, at least 478 people have died in haiti from the hurricane. edit: it's over 800 now. there is little to no news coverage about this.

i am in north carolina and i don't think we will get too much of the storm. i'm thankful for that.

- my uncle if fine! He called early this morning quickly. Roof is on the house, and they were all good. They didn't venture outside yet. I'm not sure if his property was damaged.

He was going to take a camping trailer to Mississippi if he had to evacuate. He filled it with the water tanks full to weigh it down and in case he left. But he stayed, and now has a ton of water out in his trailer.

that's what sucks about media coverage it's just omg omg FLORIDA and THE US but it's the islands that get the brunt of it and end up with casualties (not saying people don't die in the states from hurricanes because they do but proportional coverage would have been nice :x)

- I was worried about my fiance having to work at Universal yesterday. I was really happy with they decided to close down, even though Matthew ended up not being as bad as was predicted. That's pretty funny you both work there. XD

I'm relieved it turned out a lot better than predicted. We only lost power for about 8 hours yesterday and everything seems to have been cleaned up. It's like nothing even happened here.

You'd be surprised, let me tell you over the last 8 hours I've had so many people complain we were closed yesterday and 'ruined' their vacation because we closed due to the hurricane.

The hurricane was almost like a paid vacation, I know my department paid us for the time we were suppose to work which was really nice of Universal to do tbh. I'm just glad I didn't have to drive on I4. If you don't mind me asking what department does he work for? I'm the GCC.

Hoo boy, so sorry for such a late reply. All is very fine over here. We did unexpectedly lose power for a few days even though we didn't get the bitter end of the storm. Lots and lots of strong gusts, though so there was a very small amount of small branch/twig debris. I do believe there was a tree somewhere around my residentials that snapped in half. It didn't seem to cause any damage, thank goodness. , I am so relieved to hear that your uncle made it through the storm safely.
