No, it just affects how crowded my inventory is.

I wouldn't think being at the beginning of a new level would affect how well you do baking earlier level recipes. Maybe it's just bad luck?

Idk it's happened in my last 2-3 level changes, I only really burn when I'm in the red? It could just be be coincidence though, idk

You might definitely be right! I'll try to keep a closer eye on where I am in my current level when something burns (especially my go-to leveling recipe!).
