Whoa, he has a lot more character now, I really love this artist's style! He looks awkward but also totally like an adventurer, I so approve. I'm in love with his nose, omg. Noses are so hard to draw and his nose is REALLY cute!
Overall this revamp is a big improvement, though I do wish there was a bit more highlighting in his eyes -- I've always found art with eyes that don't have visible white highlights a little unsettling most of the time, haha. The raised hand/arm could probably use a bit of tweaking to make it look more natural too, a little less stiff, and his mouth does seem almost... distracting (could probably be downsized a bit?) but aside from those quibbles I approve!
He feels much more lively in this, and I'm glad that I finally know what that thing on his finger is, lol. I can now appreciate the band-aid as a nice little touch to the design. Wow gosh I really like the way the clothes and accessories were handled, and the coloring on the face is lovely. w I am so in love with the way the Subeta artists color.. And gah, I just love how he looks like such a normal dude, y'know? I would totally hang out with him.
Also, I didn't actually realize he was supposed to be awkward, since my memories of him tend to come off as more cocky/confident. I just read the 'Pedia article and I'm hoping that he won't lose his cockiness! A combination of that and awkwardness is so appealing, I love the idea. Blake was one of my favorite NPCs so I'm really excited to see more with him! : D

the new face is a large improvement, but the old hand was much more believable. the new one is just... not great. he has wiggly sausages instead of fingers, which have super wide gaps between them. it's pretty freaky, all things considered.

I'm so torn on this revamp. On one hand, the art is brighter, cleaner, and has a bit more personality... on the other hand, he no longer looks like my boyfriend to me.
Also, maybe it's just me, but the revamped art looks a little too clean. Like he's never done any excavation in his life. That's a touch that was done nicely in the previous art.
Protect him, he's awkward.

Unpopular but no. I don't like this revamp at all. He's much too cartoon to me. No thanks.
collecting His hand looks funny and his smile is a little too creepy, sorry.

I agree with you, he does look a bit awkward but the plaster does look much more plaster-like now.
Agree too.
Likely owing to his sheltered upbringing as heir to the Steele holdings and fortune, Blake can often be socially awkward, having a tendency to over share or assume an unusual amount of familiarity with strangers.
That is weird as I have always read he as self confident, like the snowman contest being on team Mischief.
I'm not an artist by any means, but I don't even feel like this art is necessarily better than the old. Different, but there are tiny details that stand out to me. Like why are the fingers fatter at the top than the bottom? And how is he contorting his hand like that? (Try it - I wasn't able to get my hand so the palm faced straight on while my fingers all went off to the right.) Why is his ear so oddly shaped? How does his mouth take up so much of his face? Why is his right eye narrow on the inside, but his left eye is narrow on the outside? IDK, I see why so many people have commented that he looks creepy.
I do like that you can tell that the bandaid is a bandaid, though. On the old art, I thought that was an oddly placed ring.
That was five years ago? Yeesh...I thought it was like...two.
Anyway, I really dislike the new version. His whole face is some serious uncanny valley material, and his fingers look like bent sausages.
Love the art, but his head seems too narrow, now, for those shoulders. Or maybe it's the width of the smile. I dunno, but something seems a little off, proportionally.
Honestly, I liked Blake's old artwork much better than the revamp. I miss the hunky, college dude looking Blake Steele. The revamped version of Blake makes him look like more of a awkwardly adorable nerd, but I'm not really a fan of his cheeks or his large mouth.

the art is nice, but I'm not fond of the facial expression... he looks awkward while before he looked confident, which suits him better because the crypts are scary
This one has a lot more character, I like it a lot! I guess I don't really see why he needed to be revamped in the first place, though. The old one was only a couple years old and is fantastic. I'm not mad at it, though, both versions are great in their own way.
edit: Holy crap, 5 years already? Well then. I still don't think he needed it, but damn, I didn't realize it's been 5 years already.
I actually always thought the old artwork, while technically quite well done, had a very boring pose and did not show any of the character's personality. Like some others have said this is probably because the character's personality had not yet been established. Given the fact that Blake is now to be a main character in what seems like another plot, a revamp to match his personality better makes a lot of sense... even if the old art was not as bad as certain others on this site.
I agree with others that his fingers are weirdly proportioned and his arm is in an unnatural pose... however, that said, this is not something I even noticed until others mentioned it. I don't think it's glaringly bad/obvious.
In short I like the new art, it may have some anatomical faults but it fits the character better.
Well....his face fits his personality now.
Overall the new art is much better, but his face is super creepy imo.

I seriously dislike the new Blake. Does he need a revamp so soon? The old artwork was far from needing an update.
He used to look friendly... now he reminds me of a drunkard being a perv to random girls. Look at that smile! Arg, that's not awkward as in adorkable, that is plain creepy as hell! O_o Also, tiny head. Though it is good that he finally got more defined muscle, being in his line of work and all that jazz...

Sorry to bother, but I really like the new revamp compared to the previous one. He just seems to have more character than before, and I can't really find anything wrong with the artwork if I'm honest. I really like his face though, and by that I mean the smile and slight blush.
