So, it was great to get the Fantine basket to help offset the cost of her quests, but the Empty Vial for Secluded Shrine quests is currently sitting at 5 million SP as I write this, and yesterday when I had to search for it there were none in user shops. I'll admit that I didn't think it was a big deal to spend a few hundred k on a baking ingredient, but 5 million? Bit ridiculous. Obviously people will always try to profit when there's high demand, but there aren't enough of this item in circulation to stabilize the price. Can something be done to introduce more of these? Yea, they restock at SG, but they're getting snatched up right away and sold for 5m.
(apologies if this was already addressed elsewhere).
I admit, I'm only posting because my daily tasks tell me to... But I totally agree. I've been fortunate enough to not have to make a scroll, but I dread the day when that roles around.
I'm willing to drop 1mil for a Baking Set at the MC, but I know some users are now. For the shrine- I just don't know what I'll do. :/
Integrating in the other high priced areas into quests (alongside the baking items) would be an excellent move.
There are a couple of level 1 scrolls that don't use Empty Vials. I only counted two, so it definitely wouldn't hurt to get more out but there are alternatives to having to buy a vial for 5m if you get the scroll task (though admittedly I only price checked one, and one of the ingredients is in short supply)
The price for Empty Vial has indeed been ridiculous ever since the raffle started, and I agree that it would be nice if it was added to the list of items randomly given out as quest rewards, like Baking Powder.
It might even be that the Empty Vials aren't RSing at all at Spells Galore at the moment, because they're usually dirt cheap and if the item is not bought from the NPC shop in a while, it'll go out of circulation for some days (9? Can't remember how many exactly.)
However, if your active pet has 5 AP or more, you should try making level 2 scrolls, because the ingredients are (so far!) much, much cheaper. Might even make more sense to go and buy some books to read to your pet and increase the AP rather than spending 5 mil to make a scroll that's practically useless/worthless. ...I don't know why anyone would pay 5 mil for that, raffle or no. Perhaps everyone else has way more sp than I do ;)
There are scrolls that don't use empty vials, like said. I've actually gotten the "make a scroll" task for a few days now and got through the task without spending that much money. The one I'm worried about is zapping a pet...

We've donated scroll ingredients to the Donation Center a few times (and will likely continue to do so during the raffle). has a plan to get a few more vials out, too! Like others have pointed out though, there are plenty of scrolls that don't require the vial. This is a great time to get your AP up to make some higher scrolls. :)
Ah thank you for this thread! I'm not so familiar with how scrolls work. Now that I have my book pet as my active pet, I am able to make scrolls higher than lvl 1 and 2. o!!
Since no one has mentioned it yet, Shining Crane (Sacred Lands next to the Wizard's Quests) gives out most of the scroll ingredients too ;) Get a lot of junk with it, but you only need 1 vial per lvl 1 scroll.
I honestly don't...really understand why tasks like "make a scroll" or "bake an item" are even in the rotation? There was no way putting those in wasn't going to lead to massive inflation and an annoyed userbase; I would've just included fixed-price sP sinks like "buy a megaticket for the Potion Lottery" if getting us to spend money was one of the aims of this raffle.
That said, I do think overall the raffle is a great idea and inflation aside it's a fun little way to get people to participate in site activities.
The overall point of the raffle isn't to spend money. It's to explore areas of the site. We've seen users comment in various places of "wow I didn't realize this existed" or "I haven't been here in forever" for various tasks. Our intention wasn't "Let's get them to spend all the sP!!!", which is why throughout the raffle we've been donating baking ingredients and scroll items, made the baking kit a free gift, etc. I personally wanted to include scrolls because it's getting people to read a few more books to their pets, getting a few higher tier scrolls done, and getting a few to work on the achievements.
Things inflate because they suddenly have use, and other users see this as an opportunity to profit. This isn't so much the fault of the raffle as it is users buying out the stocks of items to profit. We can't avoid having events where items are needed, because when a fairly limited scope of items is requested for anything, they get inflated.
Yeah, any time a specific recipe is called for in the crafting things for new items or events, it's BOUND to cause prices to shoot up. It's not usually a problem, but it seems like every time Baking is involved, it gets so out of hand that someone has to go donate a bunch of stuff just to fight off this fire, instead of implementing further fire prevention. There's just not enough stuff being stocked, and so much of it is getting burnt up anyway, so the 1 million basket seems to become the new baseline every time.
There are no doubt lots of ways to deal with it. Like... what about a daily/weekly quest one can do to get 1-3 random baking items? And if the concern is constantly flooding the economy with unused baking items, have Fantine be like, "I will provide these specific items for your next baking attempt!" instead.
tl;dr - it just feels bad to watch Amber and co frantically run to the donation center to help us win the game.
Outside of the raffle, we haven't actually gone and donated baking ingredients since we pushed the feature. So it's not really an "every time we add a new recipe" type thing. We put the basket in the Millionaire Center so people can just open that rather than donating every time. If prices get too ridiculous, we make the basket a free gift (which we've done three times now: for raffle, after the last batch of recipes, and I believe when we first put it in the millionaire center?), though we don't do that often at all. Instead we've helped inflation on some of the items by increasing items asked for (like the butters and salts)!
I've already said this somewhere but, I'll be looking into giving out baking ingredients via quests after the raffle is over but much lower chance than how the baking powder is going out right now (tbh we need it going out at the moment so I'm fine with the chances during the event).
Are the quest givers still giving out any extra food items for baking? Because yesterday I did at least 45-60 quests and didn't receive any extra baking items or Baking Powders. Could this be looked into? And I'm still not receiving any extra baking items today either.

I'm happy to hear this is getting addressed. Some scroll items are frankly scary expensive right now
I don't know if this is the right place for this or not so please let me know if I'm not supposed to post this kind of thing here, but if anybody needs help with baking I'm also giving away baking items in the giveaway section of the forums.
If people don't want to spend whatever amount for whatever item, they won't, whether its for an event or not. Obviously we all want to pay as little as possible for every item for the most part. And also we should want to sell each item for as much as possible. This of course accounts for the supply and demand dictation of price and its only sensible for inflation to happen in situations like this. But really its a great thing because restockers and resellers can make good money while others get to enter the raffle for csc and other great prizes :D.
Very glad for the donation corner & quest items and extra vials
Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but in further raffle feedback, I am stuck today as I only have mobile access this weekend and cannot play Net Gain.
Is there anyway to take device specific games out of the tasks? Or another way round it?
Thanks!
