I loveeeee port when i had an occasional drink. It was great after a big meal...oh i sure miss it.(painkillers and port don't mix well) :P
: You are correct, do not mix narcotics and alcohol. Of all the wines we've discussed the last few days ( and I am not any kind of wine expert by any stretch of the imagination, )I would agree with you on your choice, I think that ports and sherrys would be my favorites, followed by Muscatos and the German wines like Rieslings. I like the fruity sweetness. Dry wines remind me of leather and lawn clippings. Consequently, that is why I actually prefer good old English style ales if have a choice. It's like a sandwich in a glass, comfort food for the soul.
Just finished watching My Fair Lady ( the restored version ) and I was pleased to see that Colonel Pickering liked port.
Nope no cakes ever even drinking cakes. Nope.
I LOVE that story about your author's grand-daddy! what a story! Whatever reason you are taking pain relief medicine, I pray for your recovery.
You can have all of the wine cake you want. I'm fine with that, but why pour it all over cake? I understand drunk cake. One of my friends made bourbon balls. Chocolate gooeyness with tons of bourbon in them. I was good after just one lol.
Yup, I see them too. They are fun to play with lol
Wow, awesome story!
That was my first time having port and yes, it's meant for after dinner. I haven't had sherry's before, so not sure if I'd like them or not. Defintely don't mix meds and alcohal.
: : Thank you, I'm sure there are more stories I could wiggle out of him.
Well, It's time to get out of the lake, shake the water out of my fur, ( I wish I had brought my towel ) and be ready just in case our Ranger was successful in signaling the naked bargeman with gumi smoke. ( I sure hope I got that right. )
Yes Muscat is awesome too.Oh my the places and the food i had in my travels..Always had nice sweet wines..and no no never dry..LOL lawn clippings surely.Even the late harvest and dessert wines are great too.(ice wines) A 10 on the sweetness scale...heh heh loved it.And a stout drinker did i hear? Hi dear. I was run over and have been on painkillers since 2004.Thank you :) It was a nice feeling to have after dinner drinks....i even tried my hand at some martini's and a weekend worth of smoothies made from scratch with real fruits mixed together...It was fun. :P ....All waaay before the meds ever started...Ever hear of a yukaflux? That was fun too...LOL
I have never heard of a yukaflux drink. I looked it up though and it sounds interesting. Fruit and liquor mixed together can be a deadly combo for you head in the morning :P
: Oh, yes! I love a good Irish or English style stout. Poppy's Famous Wheezle Brew ( which I have been drinking since I was a wee pup...there's more to that then I will say in this post ) is technically a Dark Ale, and not actually a stout, but it's close. When I cannot get Poppy's, I will prefer Guinness on tap, or Old Rasputin ( bottles ).
I don't get around much, what traveling I have done, I have done with my author and his mate. I've been to Monterey and Big Sur ( before it burst into flames ), San Francisco ( to meet Keith ) and I've eaten some very good food there and have tasted some nice wines and some good beers.
They do make sweet sherry's and they are nice too.I am a swweeet lover..hee hee We made it before our feild exercises and came back to a cold infusion of clear drink mixes...all of us had a nice cold one to celebrate being out of the feild and being home.... Fun to travel(in safe places)hard to do in some parts of the world now.A real shame.I never tried making my own...but since i don't drink it's a harsh thing to do make it and not taste or drink???sad.....LOL
: I agree, I don't make it myself, Poppy Wheezle is the Master Brewer here in my village and he supplies all spirits, wines and ales for our entire community, so there is no need for individuals to attempt to make any. Weldon made wine once, before we were married, basically he smashed up about 5 gallons of random grapes he was given and he fermented it. Stinky! Once it settled, he racked it into cleaned out soda bottles that he found and sterilized and put it in his root-cellar. That was years ago, nobody is brave enough to actually drink it. He uses it to marinate meat for bar-b-q ( excellent bar-b-q! ) He has also been know to use it tan leather. ( think about it....)
: Wow...here we are in the middle of a WWS and Subeta throws a contest at us....typical!
Well must be good for something...maybe try cleaning out some paint brushes???If the bristles are there still then it's a good cleaning solvent... :P So far i got 3Calucko"s from the pools and 10 tokens of some kind that just vanished into thin air...I never got them and or found them anywhere...weird
