Elise quietly walked into the room. She noticed the sign up sheet in the corner and wrote down her name. She stood behind the students lined up in front of the cupboard. She wondered what it held.

Magnus saw the girl enter, not sure if he'd ever really talked to her. Quietly he slunk over near her and whispered, "'Ello, I'm Magnus. Welcome. We got bogarts today. Do you know how to do the spell? If not I can 'elp you."

(ooc: awesome :D that sounds great xD)

Aria wandered into the room and sat in the very back of the classroom. She liked to be able to see every single person in the room, so there's no way anyone can sneak up on her. From her vantage point she watched as everyone else entered the room and took seats, or mingled about. She didn't particularly enjoy Boggarts because they pointed out the weakness in everyone. She already knew what her Boggart was because she'd encountered one before, though she hadn't know what it was at the time. She watched as everyone in the club got up and participated in the Boggart charm exercise.

((OOC: This will probably sound fake/like a cop out but i assure you it is not. I am still here and want to RP and be involved more than I am; it's just incredibly hard. I get really bad migraines from LED/Fluorescent lights and looking at my phone or computer (or tv or anything like those or with fluorescent lights) really makes me extremely sick and miserable. Sometimes I have it better managed to where I can spend about an hour on the computer every 6 hours or so. However, the past two weeks I have greatly been struggling. I've only been able to handle between 5-45 min on the computer all day long. :( My life is severely limiting when I am at highly migraine-sensitive days/weeks like this. So that is why I am not here or disappear for stretches at a time. I just thought you all deserve an explanation (especially Aria's new brother Magnus). lol :P (). I will get on and be as active as I can as soon as I can! I have lots of upcoming doctor appointments to try to help me get this under better control.))

Millie took a few deep breaths. "Okay. I'm ready." The door swung open and she heard her parents saying, "I don't know where we went wrong. She showed so much promise when she was younger. Now she can't find a job and no longer has friends. Even Emmett stopped talking to her when she was turned away from Gringotts and the Ministry."

"No!" she yelled. She thought of Emmett in her grandmother's kitchen sneaking bits of cookie dough. "Riddikulus!" she bellowed as loud as she could.

Aria giggled in slight embarrassment to Magnus' question. "I've never actually done the charm," she admitted. "However, I have encountered a boggart before. I do not like them." Her tone became quite somber while speaking of the past boggart experience. "I can give it a wack though, "she said with false brightness to Magnus. "When is my turn?"

She watched as Millie went and successfully transformed the boggart. She clapped her hands at the hilarious scene of an older woman sneaking cookie dough.

Millie's boggart showed and for a moment, Magnus panicked hoping that she would be able to manage the spell. When she did, he clapped and congratulated her.

"Whenever you want," Magnus said to Aria. He waved his wand to show her the motions. "You'll be fine."

(( falls in GUESS WHO'S FINALLY AROUND AGAIN?! sits on So yeah, Shy and Katsumi, reporting for duty~ ^.^ And I'm thrilled it's a boggart~ ^.^ Should be a blast! Let's rattle Katsumi, shall we? The only question is, does anyone know her well enough to tell she's upset...hmm.

It should be noted that her boggart is not as effective at the fear aura as a true dementor, or even as the boggart of someone who fears fear most. It's considerably weaker -- but it terrifies her all the same. ^.^; ))

For once the young Ravenclaw was not particularly eager to give something a try. Katsumi had encountered a boggart precisely once before, and it had left a dark shadow in her memory. She'd been rather little at the time, hardly old enough to go to school, and being confronted by a dementor draped in chains was unnerving, to say the least. She had no way to know if the chill of terror she felt was as bad as one might get from a true dementor, or if it was due to it being a representation of her deepest fear. For a long time she hadn't even been able to figure out what it was supposed to be.

She knew now, of course. Fear was awful, yes, but helplessness -- that was what the girl truly dreaded. And while she understood the Riddikulus charm, and she thought she had an image she could use...she wasn't sure if she'd be able to cast it successfully. Katsumi felt uncertain of her abilities, and she didn't enjoy the feeling at all.

But she wanted to do it. She wanted to be able to cast the spell properly, and best a boggart. So she focused on clearing her mind and bracing herself for when Magnus called her name.

((ooc: Weee, welcome :D happy to have ya around :* -big sloppy kiss- no worries lol, Magnus won't be able to handle his boggart at all. His is pretty easy to understand--fear of being unwanted/loved, but he doesn't know its his fear. Feel free to go ahead an have her go at any time since I'm not sure who has what going on in rl and in what order they can come about. But we can torture Magnus as he tries to help lol. And then bring in the adult to help calm everything down ;) ))

"'Ey, Katsumi," Magnus said happy to see the reserved girl arrive. "Feel free to 'ave a go whenever you want. Er... do you know 'ow to do the spell?"

(( Pfft, if we get him all shaken, I don't think he'd be able to tell that /she/ is all shaken. Might be able if he's calmed down after. She's not going to do too well for the spell -- but she'll be shaken for a while after too, so he might see then. ^.^ Also I liked the adults -- particularly Magnus's dad and the...American? I think Paul or whomever was American...))

if you want Fade (who I think is reasonably good friends with Katsumi by now, yes?) to help her out too, that'd be lovely. Or to try to make her feel better after, whichever.))

She looked at Magnus -- she'd been so preoccupied with the boggart that she hadn't talked to anyone so far, this time around. "Ah...yes, I do know it, at least in theory." Her grip tightened on her wand as she moved forward.

The dough-stealing granny turned into a ragged wraith, with a hidden face and skeletal hands. Chains draped the figure, weighing it down. A cold and frightening aura spread through the room, not incapacitating, but far from pleasant. The girl didn't mean to, but she took a few steps back before catching herself and raising her wand. "R-riddikulus!" she shouted, trying to keep the altered image in her mind. Her wand gave off a few unhappy sparks but that was all. No, she could do this. She wasn't trapped, she wasn't powerless. "Riddikulus -- riddikulus!"

The third try worked -- mostly. With a loud CRACK!, a few of the boggart's chains turned to streamers. It wasn't all of the changes she'd envisioned, but it was a start. Still, the chill had not left the room, and the dementor-boggart was drifting her way. Katsumi found herself giving ground again, and the clenched fist at her side shook.

(( haha yeah it was the American Paul or Magnus dad I was planning on having waiting hidden in the wings :) Wasn't sure who until he popped out. I like them too. xD why not xD, Fade or others might be helping Magnus too haha))

The dementor arrived in the room and Magnus took a step backwards as the he felt less happy. He noticed she looked a little rattled though of course facing your fear would be rattling wouldn't it? The streamers were a bit amusing be he didn't feel like himself enough to laugh. He did step in front, thinking he could manage to take on a Griffin--which he assumed he feared.

CRACK-- the dementor turned into his old headmaster at the orphanage, "I wish I could get rid of you Magnus, I despise you." --Crack-- it turned into Paddy "I'm glad you are no longer in Gryffindor, I really don't like you at all." -crack- It had changed to Fade, "You're a worthless mongrel, really." Shaking the boy said "riddikulus" with a pained whisper. Nothing changed. -crack- it shifted to Aria, "Who could possibly love a street rat like you?" -crack- His father appeared "We don't love you, you know. We felt pity for you. Who could ever love a werewolf? You are a disgrace, you should have just died when you were attacked."

Magnus had fallen to the ground, shaking in sobbing tears. Then from the back corner of the room, Paul appeared, and stepped in front of the boggart, which started shifting but Paul waved his wand and shoved it into the cupboard.

Paul gave the barest of smiles as he handed out chocolate--shoving a very large piece into Katsumi's hand. "Don't worry," he said to everyone, "Y'all can battle the boggart, I just don't think you all want to see mine."

He put his arm around Magnus rubbing the boy's back. "You know none of what it said is true, right?" He looked up at Kasumi, "I liked the streamers." He gave her a smile--letting her decide how much comfort she wanted.

"'S'not true," Magnus said in broken sobs, "'Eadmaster did say it." He was still shaking and tears still falling as his chocolate melted in his hands.

(( WOO PAUL! <3 He's the best, he is. But now I need to know his boggart....It's probably Unspeakable. =P

Great, now I'm seeing someone whose boggart is paperwork and red tape. PFFFT.))

Katsumi turned away when Magnus stepped up, wrestling with her feelings and her very evident failure. She could hear the other student having trouble with the boggart behind her, and she wanted to help, but what good would she be, when she could barely cast the Riddikulus spell herself? And she was not very good at comforting people. It was yet another form of helplessness, though this was the frustrating sort rather than the terrifying sort.

When Paul handed her a chunk of chocolate she looked up, surprised to see him, and too distracted to much appreciate the concern. Her face was paler than usual, and her expression even more distant. "Ah...thanks..." she mumbled, taking a bite automatically, hardly tasting it. "...There were supposed to be more of them, though. And a gust of wind to make the robes move like -- what's the name of that American actress from the black and white era? With the skirt?" She needed to distract herself, and refocus. She /wanted/ to help cheer Magnus up, but her mood made it even more difficult than usual.

Still, she wasn't going to let herself withdraw to a corner. She needed to do better than that. Katsumi plunked herself down next to her fellow Ravenclaw on the floor. "Your headmaster was a bleeding lout, if he said that," she told him, though she wasn't looking at him. It was easier to look at no one at all just then.

(( haha feel free to ask him :P he might tell her. Haha red tape would be amusing and signing lots of paperwork -giggles-))

"Shh, Gus," Paul said to Magnus, "it's okay. He was a prat anyway." He continued to half hold the boy. He gave a laugh. "You thought of Marilyn Monroe?" He sounded impressed. "You did pretty well, I thought. You know, boggarts aren't so easy. When I was in starting against them I failed facing them at least ten times. You are facing your fears and exposing those fears to others. That in itself isn't easy." Then Paul pointed to the Raveclaw crest on the wall. "'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure', your house says right? Well everyone falls when learning to walk. But you only fail if you never try."

Paul waved his wand with a silent spell and a vial flew into his hand from Magnus' bag. He uncorked it and coaxed the boy to drink it. Then cleaned of Magnus' hands from the chocolate. He went back to rubbing the boy's back.

Magnus wiped his eyes wishing he could disappear. He felt awful that he couldn't run the boggarts like he thought he could. It was a good thing an adult be present was a must.

Paddy tried to put Magnus' not-quite-so-successful Boggart attempt out of her mind, and walked towards the cupboard. "I'll have a go," she said to Paul, waiting for him to release it.

As the door creaked open, she gripped her wand tightly, forcing herself not to scream as a giant Acromantula scuttled from the cupboard towards her. Paddy felt an immense urge to close her eyes and run from the room, but willed herself to stand still and deal with it. Waving her wand, she shouted "Riddikulus" or at least she meant to shout it - her mouth was so dry, it came out as a hoarse whisper, but the spell still seemed to work.

The Acromantula stopped moving towards her, and started doing a tap dancing display. She wasn't quite sure what made that look so funny, but it certainly was a lot less scary than all those hairy legs and that huge body moving towards her!

Paul realised the boggart and smiled re-reassuringly to Paddy. at the sight of the giant spider tap dancing Paul gave an amused chuckle and even Magnus seemed to smile weakly. Then the boggart was slammed back into the cupboard with a flick of Paul's wand. "Good idea on the dancing. It seemed rather coordinated with all those legs, huh? Would you like a calming draught or butterbeer?"

Katsumi considered the man's words. He had a good point, and it made her feel a bit better about her lack of success, though it did nothing to help with how badly shaken she was. "Thank you, Paul," she said, glancing at him for a moment. It /was/ a rather personal thing, letting others see what you feared most. "It actually took me quite a while to figure out what my boggart meant, the first time I encountered one," she added, intending her words for Magnus as well but not addressing him directly. "...I think it's a little harder, when what you're afraid of isn't something concrete." She meant more than just figuring out what it was, of course, though the way she said it might not make that clear. The girl hesitated, struggling over whether she was willing to speak of something so personal. When she continued, her voice was very quiet. "I'd be surprised if you got it so soon, but...mine, it's...being helpless. Being in trouble, and unable to do anything about it."

Paul nodded, "It is, in my opinion one of the worst creatures this world has." He gave her a sad smile--one that understood all too well. "Darlin' those are very understandable fears." He said with his American accent becoming more pronounced. "Magnus, if you have doubts on if people care about you, then I will tell you I was afraid when I was watching you nearly die as I took you to Saint Mungo's." Paul looked at Katsumi. "I will tell you mine. When I was a child, my father was administered the dementor's kiss in front of me. My boggart is an uncloaked dementor sucking out a soul. Which is why I said you did not wish to see that. You see, my greatest fears are to become a shell of a man and to fail to save the ones I love." He said it so calmly that even his eyes didn't shift.

"Thought mine was a griffin... I never thought it was...that..." he said looking up at his fellow Ravenclaw. The calming draught Paul gave him was starting to work though shock was on Magnus' face. "Dad never said you were the one to save me." "I asked him not to, child. I never wanted credit. I tell you simply because I know you will believe me."

Fade watched stoically while his classmates bravely stood in front of the Boggart. His hands were hot, especially the one gripping his wand. Was that really what a Dementor looked like? Did Magnus really think he was capable of saying such mean things? It wasn’t that far of a stretch to say that Fade had similar fears lurking in the depths of his own imagination. Swallowing the lump that had developed in his throat he took a deep breath, and crossed the room. A nervous smirk flicked across his face. At least Paul was there, if anything went really wrong.

The Boggart was released and swirled above the boy, a shapeless darkness that twisted in on itself and produced a deep rushing sound. Fade’s hair washed to white as he looked up. From within the darkness eyes began to appear, two, three, four, quickly they became too numerous to count. The eyes rolled this way and that, their pupils black slits against bright orange and red irises. And then they began to pop. With each burst, laughter could be heard, children's laughter, taunting and ridiculing. Fade pointed his wand, but his mind had gone blank.

His mother's voice crackled above the mocking chorus. “Don’t cry, it was just a dream. Magic isn’t real, it’s time to wake up.” She said, her tone growing colder. The swirling darkness became her likeness, only the numerous eyes remained, now all trained on Fade, the color draining from his face. “Wake up I said. No more magic. No more Hogwarts. No more magic! No mo-” She was shrieking. Gritting his teeth, Fade finally found the words. “Riddikulus!” His wand sparked and the horror froze in mid-step, all the eyes suddenly becoming gumballs that clattered to the floor as the dark vapors disappeared.

(( OOH ANOTHER TROUBLESOME ONE! <3 Hee, let's torment all the characters! wiggles ...I should not be this happy about it. Clearly I am a horrible human being.

OH WELL.))

Katsumi paled even further when the American told her about seeing his father lose his soul to a dementor. She shuddered. "That's awful." She couldn't even imagine that. And why had they let a child watch? Had it been an execution? Had it happened during one of the two Wizarding Wars? Did the timeline even fit for the latter? She couldn't guess -- and she didn't feel like she should ask, either.

Magnus looked her way and she met his gaze. There was a lot she wanted to say, but she couldn't find the words for any of it. How she could understand being afraid of rejection. She didn't fear it, exactly, but she did encounter it, when people took her aloof expression at face value. She was lucky that not everyone was like that. And maybe some people wouldn't look past the whole "turns into a beast during the full moon" -- but that wasn't everyone, and there were plenty of people that cared a great deal about Magnus.

Instead she said something entirely different. "Well, it's not gryphons after all -- so next time the girl that has one for a pet comes around, you have absolutely no excuse." The joke was delivered entirely deadpan, before Katsumi's attention drifted over to Fade. He was facing an intangible fear too, it seemed. No magic? She suspected there was more to it than just that, but she couldn't tell what it was. He managed the charm, but he was clearly just as rattled as the other two Ravenclaws, so she lifted a hand to wave him over. Might as well be shaken together.
