I've recently completely changed the pet's character and everything about them and am now wondering if they can be re-submitted for the spotlight? I really don't mind the current spotlight status being removed completely if possible. Thanks!

It was talked about but never became a thing as far as I am aware. I think it came down to the fact that we don't have screenshot records of the old wins so people could technically reuse their old code/story.

How do I mark my pet ready for pet spotlight?

Click on the 'Personal' tab, then 'Pets' on the dropdown. When that page comes up, there is a movie set lamp with 'spotlight' under it. Click that and then it will list all your pets that have not already won. Click yes next to the pet's name and then all the way at the bottom click 'Select Pets' and you're done. :)

I had a pet nominated a while back, and after coming back from a hiatus I decided to see where he was at in the nomination. His nomination had been denied, saying I was missing credits for the story, images, and coding. But I have credits for all of those things already in there. I checked other winners and didn’t see a single one specifying “coding” credits, they all say “Profile by:” and I assume that would go to show who did the coding anyway.

I also had the story credited as it was written by myself. The profile creator also put where they found the images they hadn’t made themselves. I’m not sure if maybe something was overlooked in my credits and I need something more, but honestly after looking at some of the past winners, my pets page seems to be one of the ones that has more credits in it. If someone could take a peek and see if maybe I overlooked something that’d be super helpful! :3

Oh and the user for the story credit is my old username, I just changed it yesterday lol But I didn’t want to edit any changes to it until I got some feedback. How it is now is how it was when it got denied. Thank you in advance for any help given!!

OK, this is just my opinion, and what I have found to be true; I am not trying to offend or step on anyone's toes or whatever. Someone else might say something completely different. You have: Credits: Profile by: Ringo Some graphics used (lanterns,door,chest) from Freepik.com. Scroll from Deviantart. All other graphics created by Ringo. Story by owner: User not found: ice_angel

Some of this could be construed incorrectly just because of how it is put. I personally would say: Credits: Profile, name, and code by: . Background by: Whoever. Scroll by: Whoever. Lanterns, door, and chest images by: Freepik.com. Story by: [User=Noctia].

Ringo does create some images, esp names or graphic shapes, or adds fading and other beautiful effects, but I'm pretty sure she does not literally paint everything. It used to be enough a while back to simply say Profile by but now its a lot stricter and all work, images and/or code must be clearly credited. So you will need to know where the background came from, like Geralt from Pixabay for example. You need to ask her or you can do a reverse image search from places like TinEye too. Also, if you edited anything, you need to put that as well.

What does 'Scroll from Deviantart' mean? I was quite confused by that. Do you mean your DeviantArt? If so, You need to specify. If it is someone else's you need to say that. Pixabay and Unsplash are well known to be free use sites, but DeviantArt is not usually, unless it specifically says so, then I would say that too just to be clear.

Oh, and if you like, you can go to ">Pet Spotlight + Support Group IV to get advice or suggestions on a pet for whatever reason on a profile too. I get help there all the time and also comment too on pet profiles. We will have the choice to nominate your pet as well. :) Be sure to put at the top of your post, and link to your pet.

Ooooh ok, that's actually super helpful! I know Ringo originally put all the credits in aside from the story one so I'm not sure where they specifically got the individual images. I may have to reach out and ask them for some help cleaning up the credits section :3

But yeah like the scroll from DeviantArt, I'm not sure like what account it came from and I wondered if maybe that one specifically was why it could have been denied. I'll have to go to that thread and peek around at some of the other profiles and post when I have an edited version made up before I apply for him to be ready for nominations again.

Question: I noticed one of my pets that have been nominated was missing a credit and added it. However I know you're not supposed to change the code once nominated. What can I do? Do I take her off the spotlight and resubmit?

What happened if you have no one to nominate your pets? I went on a hiatus for security reasons and lost my place in the queue.

Leave it as is. If it is a small change they will usually check if you did what you were supposed to and then simply add it back to the queue. You don't have to do anything. If the pet is denied they will tell you.

If you went on a hiatus and didn't take your pet out of the queue, then the pet should still be in it. :) Otherwise, you can post your pet in this thread and ask for opinions. A fresh perspective is always a good idea. Someone will nominate your pet if they believe it is ready.

I had to freeze my account for a few weeks. I came back and noticed all my ‘done’ pets were out of the queue. But I know I can’t ask to be nominated.

I don’t know if my pets need more but the staff haven’t said I need to redo anything last time. My favourite one is Madame Vastra

Nice! I nommed her. Yeah, you have to credit everyone, yourself included. Even if they are frozen. It will just put their name with a line through it.
