Hey guys! The new March box isn't ready to release yet (still waiting on the last item!), but I've finally written up some info for you all. Please take a look! Also, this is your last chance to claim a Candy Sweets box before we release the new theme. :)

Policy Update & FAQ

We've listened to your feedback from our last round of giveaways and want to take this opportunity to respond! Please read through everything below and let me know (ping me, or you can message me privately if you prefer!) if you have ANY additional questions, or need clarification for those answered here.

Bonus Item Announcement

After discussing your suggestions, Cathii and I have decided to increase the number of bonus slots by five, and these additional slots will be raffled after the three giveaway events each month! Otherwise, our bonus slots will remain the same - 12 slots sold at the time of the box's release, 3 slots given for free as prizes during our events, with remaining slots offered to box artists, Cathii, or myself.

To be eligible for a raffle slot, you must buy one of that month's boxes and state that you would like to be placed on the raffle list for the bonus item, if the first 12 slots have already sold out. We will randomly select 5 winners from the raffle pool - if you win, you will be responsible for paying for the bonus item, it is not free. If you change your mind or can't pay, let us know and we'll draw a new name from the raffle pool. Please do not claim a box, then drop it if you do not receive a chance to buy the bonus!

New FAQ!

It's not comprehensive, but here is some information regarding questions many of you had! Hopefully this will help everyone understand better how the box works, and how we run it.

Who Funds the Box?

Right now, Cathii funds each monthly box 100%, including the cost of submission for 4-5 items, a free copy of their item for each artist, and the majority of the contest prizes/prize pool items.

Who Profits From the Box?

Neither Cathii nor myself profit from the box itself, only if we have contributed an item to the month's box. Artists that generously donate their time to contribute to each box receive a small profit of 150 CSC per copy of their item(s) sold. Profits are usually distributed within the first week of each month's release, after the majority of boxes have been sold.

Why Can't I Choose the Items in My Box?

There are a few reasons why Cathii and I have decided to keep the items divided into 3 set box types, rather than allow users to choose what items they purchase.

1. Pairing items together rather than selling them separately allows for artists to try new things that might not be as popular normally, allowing more creative freedom and a wider variety of new items to come to the market! This helps ensure that no one item is wildly popular to the detriment of another item, keeping profits (and good vibes!) relatively equal for all artists.

2. Keeping the type of items (wig, accessory, clothing, BG, etc) static in boxes A and B allows us to have a set price each month, which is easier for us to keep track of, and provides a stable number for our regular buyers to save CSC for.

3. One of our original goals for the subetaBox program was to encourage growth in the CW market by encouraging people to buy a box, then sell the items they didn't 100% love. In this way, more people can have access to box items over time, even if they can't afford to buy a box during the month it's released. This is even easier now that CWs can be sold for CSC in user shops now, and with our split-box forum!

Why Don't You Sell Shoes/Trains/BGs/Companions/Other Thing That I Want?

It's up to each month's artists to choose what item they feel inspired to create! Since artists are basically donating their time (instead of creating their own item to release, or taking a commission), we don't feel comfortable asking them to create any certain design, beyond asking that they stick to a general price category.

Will You Ever Release Recolors or Re-Release Past Items?

Cathii and I have discussed doing a special recolor box at some point, but we haven't worked out the details yet, and we would have to make sure any included artist was on board. If recolors ever happen, they will definitely be infrequent! Since we haven't specified that recolors might happen during past releases, we probably won't be able to include anything prior to this coming month in a recolor box. Gotta be fair to buyers!

Right now, we have no plans to re-release any older items (including bonus items) in the future. And, because of subeta rules, we wouldn't be able to do this anyway – since we've already stated that each item is available only for a limited amount of time (the month it was released). Staff was very gracious to allow us to run the box at all, so we don't want to get in trouble for potential scamming!

Can We Suggest Themes or Items for Future Boxes?

So far, Cathii and I have been choosing themes, but we have discussed some ways to open up suggestions! Stay tuned, we'll let you know more on this later. In the meantime, we do love your input on anything to do with the box, and we're looking for more ways to keep you involved with making it!

I know this might sound weird, but to ensure someone can't report you for scamming, can you put a disclaimer that recolors are possible in the future?

Yes, we'd definitely need to do this moving forward. I'm not sure if any of our past items are recolorable, since we didn't put this notification up in the past. Thank you for looking out for us!

yeah I would say don't make it retroactive just to be safe. Uh bold it and make it large if possible so peeps can't miss it. Then they can't come back and be like, "it wasn't visible enough!!! Bleh!!!!"

You can make a google form for people to submit? It'll automatically go into a google excel sheet which is extremely useful. I've used it before for feedback on events and whatnot, and it's relatively easy to create and organizes by itself.

If memory serves at the start it was mentioned somewhere that the items in the box wouldnt be recolored other then recolor boxes. BUT I do think allowing it for specific items in a box would be a good thing. There are some things in the box that I am like "WOW that is cute, BUT not my color." I try to bridge out to other colors but I know me and know I fall back into my normal scheme of HA.

I think since Cathii is the one that is getting everything on site, it would fall under the category that the items belong to her technically even tho the artists are getting a kick back. So I am sure it would need to be worked out with Cathii and artist that did the design(s) how to do recolors and how the money would go. But def need a disclaimer somewhere about recolors being possible somewhere and not just in the boxes . :)

Ooh I like the idea of feedback for a theme. A vote system or spreadsheet like Czar suggested would be good.

If we did recolors, these would be only in a recolor box. Cathii/no other artist wouldn't be releasing these anywhere else! And like I mentioned to V, since we haven't specifically said the possibility for recolors was there, in the past, I don't think we can do any recolors for past items. But if we decide we might do recolor boxes in the future, we'll definitely be sure to specify during future releases that the possibility for recolors exist. I hope that makes sense! I'm going to try to clarify that in the FAQ. ^^

You're right, it does! As far as I know, she hasn't changed anything on that page since we started. Still, I think we might need to file a ticket and confirm that that's enough - or, if we would have needed to restate that on each release page, because I'm pretty sure we didn't.
