Absolutely LOVE this Subeta!!!! Perfect! Well thought-out and researched!

Quote by Confection
Youkabai
a play combining "Youkai/Yokai" - a classification of Japanese spirit creatures, and "Baku" - the dream eating tapir spirits.

Name Breakdown
You&;ll notice Baku is spelled backward in the middle to better fit with the flow :) this obviously fits with the dreams.
Sandwiching the backward baku is Yo(u)kai, fitting the spiritual description of the creature as well.

"Kabai" (which you&;ll notice is formed at the end) is also a verb form of the term meaning to defend. Such a gentle giant surely seems like he may be a defender for whatever Subeta family he joins!

"Bai" which is at the end is also a brand of tea, which is important to this creature!

"Ouka" (again in the middle) is a Japanese girl name meaning cherry blossom. The description of the spirit mane flowing makes me think of beautiful cherry blossom trees swaying in the wind - magical and seemingly ethereal!

Finally, "Youkabai", if pronounced (Yoh - Kah - Bye) sounds a bit like you&;re saying "rockabye", like the lullaby song. Which, given the association to dreams, just makes the overall sound of the name flow really nicely in my opinion! :)

BONUS POINTS: It starts with a Y and we don&;t have a pet name yet that starts with a Y according to staff :) :) :)

Hmmm... thinking it must be similar to a Baku? So make something like... Bakura or Yumera?

I'm not good at naming things, but can't wait to see the new pet reveal regardless!

Something like Yumekami? Yume = 'dream' in Japanese, and kami = 'god', although it is also sometimes used for what westerners usually understand to be spirits rather than gods.

Qi

Look up the meaning in Chinese. Nuff said. Ok fine. It means 'energy' and suchlike. Wikipedia: Qi literally translates as "breath", "air", or "gas", and figuratively as "material energy", "life force", or "energy flow".Qi is the central underlying principle in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts.

Variations thereof can include: Qipo (daring or bold spirit)

Sources: I'm Chinese and damnit Qi is an awesome name for a spiritual elephant thing from Subeta's Asia-land

As I have 5 different Native American tribes in my blood, I decided to go with names from some of the tribes languages.

Kamali; which means "Spirit Guide"

or

Yatokya; which means "Sun" (since Shengui is quite a peaceful-sunny place.)

That's all I have for now, if I can find any others, I'll be sure to post them. c:

Chasen - chasen is the bamboo whisk used to swoosh japanese tea. (yes, swoosh is a technical term lol) maybe the spelling could be altered to hint at the pronunciation more? so that people know that instead of "chase N" it's pronounced like "chah sen"

Yaolan - which means cradle in chinese. literally, rocking basket.

Weimeng - wei means something that hasn't happened yet, meng means dream.
