So Chiasa means "One thousand mornings" in Japanese. A fitting name for her slightly older brother would be Michio which means "Man on the path" (to his sister) or Satoru which has several meanings like "daybreak", "enlightened", "fast learner/knowledgeable", "perceptive". I also like: Toshi (= alert, bright, intelligent) Hiroaki (= widespread brightness) or Masaaki (true brightness) Kenichi (= studies first - because you mentioned he is kind of a geek) Mamoru (=protector) Nobu (= faith - to find his sister) Sho (= wind instrument) Shin (= true, belief, heart)
Edit: And, because it sounds Japanese yet isnΒ΄t: Legato Meaning >>> In music performance and notation, legato indicates that musical notes are played or sung smoothly and connected.

Congrats to the winners!
Baek-Hyeon: The characters that make up this Korean name mean "older brother" and "virtuous/worthy/good." Junu: "talented/capable/handsome" + "superior/excellent." Jinu: "real/true/genuine" + "friend/companion."

- Thank you so much. :)
- Thank you!
Thanks a lot everyone---except---cough---was that a fluffy tale that flounced by? You gave me a LOT of good ones to mull over!
Anyway, I tried a few of these on, and the one which stuck the hardest seems to be Poppet's Junu, which morphed a bit for sound in Chunu--same difference. Thanks a lot, Poppet! Gift headed your way, hope you like!

I'll call them anything if they come find me!
Congrats Poppet! :) Wow that towel day one went completely over my head lol. That's what I get for trying to answer something right after getting off of work. :P
: Well, I try...You have to understand that many of the cultural names in my clan and tribe are either Germanic or based on woodland flora. So, the only real suggestion that I was able to think of was: Hans (gracious ) Sebastian ( venerable ) Von Lupine, (joy, happiness )
Fritz ( peaceful ruler ) Jakob ( supplanter or may God protect ) Paintbrush ( artistic )
and
Markus ( god of war ) Johann ( gracious ) Christopher ( savior ) Pussypaws. ( healer ) ( yes pussypaws is a low growing wildflower I use in a tea to cure headache and the name of the tribal elder of the bear clan, Lord Pussypaws....but as usual, I digress....)
So you see, I'm rather culturally isolated and so, Bob seemed like an easy choice for me to offer as a suggestion.
And it was an easy joke to pull out of my bum in order to get a snigger or two.
Thank you so much!
I'm stoked that this edition of WS has ties to Korean culture Rowan. c:

Thank you so much β€ Omgosh! When you live under the sea it is difficult to get emails out and posts don't get so water-splashed and blurry! I will try harder to contain myself and do what is right!!! hugs and π

I sniggered.
I'm not sure if it's Korean culture or Japanese culture. I know Rowan likes kdrama faces and I think kdramas, but the name Chiasa was Japanese when I looked it up. There's some overlap, but there are also differences. Then again, it might just be a far eastern mixture. I'm looking forward to finding out!
The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group
I'm sure there are ties to other nations as well. The universe seems to be a Far Eastern mixture, like the Nickelodeon Avatar world or Shengui Guo. I picked up on the Korean influence from the classes (Kisaeng, Iljimae) actually. c:

Nice job ... Congrats Poppet!
I knew you pulled that tail out of somewhere! snigger
All the lands in Wayward Squirrel are fantasy children of fusion, but yes, Poppet, Sinhae pulls many links out of Korean culture and history. When it comes to adventuring, Japan settings can get overdone, although you're hard-pressed to make anything steampunk without acknowledging the presence and influence. China is such a rich world by itself that its hard to pin any portion down, but Korea? Fascinating and doable!
Besides, I'm learning Korean right now, and the lore is also great for my second novel in my empires series. (Yes, Rowan does have a job and is a real writer, who knew? :D) This way, I'm not in conflict with myself.
Shy is right. I do like Kdramas. In fact, I love them. It's good language practice, and stories are fun and massively entertaining. Right now, I'm suffering from "Descendants of the Sun" withdrawal. :D
KPop leaves me cold for the most part, which disappoints the Subetans who live for Shinee and (shudder) EXO. I'm partial to really good actors and actresses, which most idols are not! Lee Jin Ki (Onew) has a nice voice, but that's all as far as I'm concerned. Lee Jun Ki, on the other hand, is so good in every role I'd watch him read the phone book!
Sinhae is still a fusion fantasy, though, and I reserve the right to take liberties. evil cackle
woo fun!

Thanks! c:
It's great that you're learning Korean! I speak and understand it pretty fluently but I can't read or write it (except for my Korean name) because I was a kid who was stubborn about Korean school. So many regrets! I'm not very familiar with K-Drama and K-Pop but I do like Korean movies. K-Beauty is totally my jam though.
I agree that Japan is overdone and China can be daunting to take on for an RP universe.

I'm not anywhere near fluent and I'm learning to write slowly. But I'm stubborn and don't give up. :D
You'd like some of the dramas, I think. As for K-Beauty--OMG girl, that has changed my life! My skin looks better than it ever has. People on the street comment and ask me what I do for it, and I wear less makeup than ever before! I have naturally red hair and very delicate skin so I could kiss the staff at HolikaHolika for BB cream!!
I'm saving money since the stuff is so affordable, and looking so good. (Thank you, HH, TonyMoly, SkinFood, PeriPera, Nature Republic, Mizon, Missha, etc.)
PS Who can resist a cat-face compact and a set of nine bunny lipsticks?!
cat face compacts? Bunny lipsticks? I'm off to see if I can get this stuff in the UK. I'm such a sucker for packaging :)
