This is a great idea. Some days i am just so ridiculously busy with life and i'm not able to feed my pet foods I collected for the gourmand achievement.
I just use my vault to keep my food in, I have a category just for food and when I need to feed my gormand pet I go in and take out some food.
I would absolutely love a pantry or something just for food items, separate from my vault. As it is now, I use my vault predominantly for hoarding food that I plan on feeding my gourmand, but now that user shops have a limit, I'd prefer to store excess items in my vault instead. (Especially now that we can very quickly and easily transfer items from our vault to a shop!) Using categories would work, sure, but they're a little fiddly and extremely tedious, especially on a touchpad.
Omg yes plase. owo This would be fabulous.
This definitely sounds like an excellent idea. And I would definitely like it. I too am busy with college and life and can't be here to feed my pets on a daily basis.
But it would be helpful if the pets could feed themselves the achievement foods too, and I can just easily update my pet's count list on SL after. Although it is kind of fun to feed my own pets when I'm free.
Personally I currently can't think of any thing that can make the idea better... The only thing is that I would like the Wardrobe to be fixed /fully functioning first before this is further explored or created.
I'd be glad to use this idea, I love the idea of a pantry for the pets. Now, the question I have would be a pantry per pet or set it up so it's one pantry per user and you can lock out certain pets from it?
I was wondering about this function as well. I don't want my non-gourmands eating food items intended for my gourmand, especially considering achievements and so on, and especially since I only hoard unique food items and not duplicates. Maybe there could be a "pantry key" option where only certain pets have access to it, or there could be shelves in the pantry--sort of like categories in vaults or wishlists--so users can have a separate shelf for their gourmand. (I'd personally prefer just restricting pets' access, since like I said before, I dislike fiddling with categories. :P)
love the food pantry idea. I had one gallery just for food for Choo so this would be very helpful.
. I can see myself arranging balanced meals for Xannor and leaving her I-Love-You messages on sticky notes.
I would like this idea. When my gourmand has a lot of food to eat and can't eat it all, I put it in my vault and end up forgetting about it. If I can't feed it to my pet immediately, it gets forgotten about. I'd love for him to have his own pantry of food that I can put maybe 10 food in (15 for GA?) and as he loses one hunger he'll eat the first food in the list in the pantry and go back to full hunger. And it continues until the pantry is empty and I put more in it. And maybe get an event/notification when the pantry is empty. Like a food-to-be-eaten queue without me forgetting about it.
yes, please, make this real! I have full vault of pet food QQ :D

I really second this a lot. I currently have a gallery only for some food items for Maja but it gets frustrating remembering to take them all out and feed her items one by one.
Also, you mentioned something that sounded like a pet can be read multiple books at a time? Cause if so, I'd like to know how, cause I've been struggling with this for a little while now and it'd be super cool if I could just mass read books to my pets. o.O
I meant that there isn't a wait time between reading books, not that there's a page I can go to where she literally reads every book at the same time, lol. So I could take a whole page out of my vault, read them to her all at once, put the ones she's already read in my shop, and just be DONE with it instead of having to read her ten.. then wait a long time... then read her ten.. then wait a long time...
However, on that note, if you'll start in your inventory and then click on each book using the wheel of your mouse, you'll open each book into a new tab. Then you can just run through the tabs to read the books instead of click a book, read it, go back to inventory, wash, rinse, and repeat. Makes the task much less daunting.
