yeah i can't plan ahead for when i'll have free time, so i try to get everything ready when i happen to have the time. basically, i'm bad at scheduling but sometimes it works out on your favor! i got the sense there was a certain baby-like style to him that you didn't like, so i redrew the face a bit to move away from that. take a look! and please don't hesitate to correct me again if this wasn't what you meant!

The arsonist is a Native American (Ojibwe) woman with heavy facial scarring and terrible social skills! She is a pyromaniac with scars to match. Physically she's stronger than the average person, and has fairly typical Native facial features, with the exception of her blue eyes. Her hair is always an unfortunate thing to behold.

Red (uses they/them pronouns) is sort of just trying to get by as best they can. They are of Brazilian descent, have wavy hair, and freckles, and currently live on a farm in New Mexico with their partner. See this google search for their general wardrobe.

Noah will tell you in absolutely no uncertain terms that he is God's gift to mankind, and will then flirt with you shamelessly until his two partners come to rein him in. He has partial albinism, with All Of The Freckles and fine, curly blond hair. He is pretty ripped and also pretty short, 5'6". White, probably Germanic descent.

you already know who i chose... lol already having too much fun with this! anyway, several points. first of all, i noticed there is a lot of variation in the reference pics. so my interpretation of them turned out a bit like this: click, click: curly hair in a low bun (very much a period appropriate style according to my family's old photo album), with a bit of that trademark Unisex Latin American Lipbrow, slightly bulgy nose/lips. quite different from all of the refs in some points, so do let me know right now what you want me to alter and tweak about their features! we should arrive at an interpretation you are happy with right now, since this will be hard to alter after it's done, being both a closeup and a painterly style. also let me know if you would prefer a 3/4 or side view! and oh, i thought about maybe giving it a b/w or sepia toned color palette, so it looks like an old timey portrait. would you like that or would you prefer more vivid colors?

oh man these are so cool! I am REALLY bad at consistency and am still.... working my way out of high school corgi's Anime All the Time art style, so that is why the refs are so inconvenient, sorry! I 100% trust your perspective on the ethnicity/period side of things; I am about as white as white can be, and Red is part of a story wherein they're not currently getting a lot of screen time so I haven't done the degree of research I need to for them yet.

I think I like the side shot best, and sepia sounds good to me! The sketch looks solid as it is, I think the only thing I'm seeing as missing is their freckles but that also sounds like a thing you'd do in the coloring stage. Hit me up with a trade for the cash when you've got one :D

i'm glad you like it but you should NOT feel bad about drawing anime-like! it's a valid style as any other. and if you'd like me to animefy them a little so it fits better with your other characters, that is absolutely no problem. i don't see myself getting tired of drawing them anytime soon tbh! and also, brazilian people come in all shapes and sizes, for real... don't worry about that either. i came out as white as one can be myself, even though my heritage is all over the place! but i do guarantee as i drew them, they look very much like an average brazilian, if there is such a thing. i was gonna mention i was gonna add in the freckles later, that i hadn't forgotten about them! yeah, they are pretty much the one thing you can always add at the end with no need for major edits :p but yeah, if this is all good, Lot for you! 80 mil sp (i'm always shocked at these sp prices, such big numbers)

and that sounds great! i'm similar in a way that lineart kinda stresses me out because i can never settle on a pose i like or get the lines as clean as i want them, so i enjoy coloring much more!! it'll probably be a while until i lay down the flats for this gal tho, my fingers haven't been feeling too happy lately ;0;

also!! hot dang, another fast one. i jus wanna squish those plump lil limbs, i love the curves and the pose :D the worm is super duper cute, tho i don't think she'd ever find one tasty! could we try a playdate with a butterfly instead? Yanno honestly if you did want to "streamline" them a bit more it would probably work out a bit better then? I still can't push my style as much as I'd like yet, and I would like to start better standardizing my references for them haha. I really love how much character and individualism your style has though, so don't sweat it too much!

Thanks for the reassurances, too; my writing has started to feature lots more PoC of late and I can work myself into an unnecessary froth trying to make sure I'm doing right by them!

Oh absolutely, I completely agree! I have learned a lot and gotten a lot better already, but there is always way more to learn and be aware of and respectful of. It is a healthy fear for sure, and I would much rather have it than not! (I am just prone to anxious thought spirals that are not the most useful thing in the world aha)

@ KRONOS my first thought was that you wanted my fallback career to be "being fast" and now that's all i wanna be and here she is!! you know the drill, changes, alterations, lemme know. also, imo the butterfly is a lil hard to read in the lines but i think it will be fine if you color it with contrasting values to the gryphon's color. but if it's not working out then, tell me and i'll figure it out!
