There was a garter snake outside my window the other day!! I live in a basement apartment. My husband woke me up, kind of in a anxiety attack, not really able to get out what was upsetting him. Finally, he got out "snake". Not just one, but two. Our living room windows are level to the outside ground and two snacks had gotten into the empty flower box outside our window. My cat had been super interested in something so my husband checked and two little heads popped up. They must've smelled her and were curious. I didn't get to see them, but my husband got a picture of one. SO CUTE. Fully grown adults.
The squirrels are now arriving and eating my plants. BAH! :P
That's awesome you found some little neighbors. I wonder why they were in a box, if they were a couple looking for real estate or something.
Oh no! What kind of plants did those squirrels eat anyway? I'm hesitant about planting my bean plant outside for that reason.
I might be dreaming but I think I'm starting to hear little baby birds outside these days. :D
I deliver papers at night, so I see all kinds of wildlife. We see lots of deer, rabbit, foxes, and owls. We see the occasional coyote. There are also tons of spiders. They love to make webs on the paper tubes.

I've actually been staying in mostly for the last week or so. I'm done with my physical classes and since I'm a grad student I don't have finals, but I still have papers and stuff to finish though. I'll have all of them done by the 18th.
Anways, uh..
squirrels little small brown birds. They're everywhere in Buffalo, but not sure exactly which bird species they are though. Canada Geese( the university I attend is in Buffalo and we have a lot of said Canada Geese around campus)
Also, saw a roadkill deer once while in a car with friends on the way to downtown Buffalo to attend an event a couple days back. It was already dead and on the side of the highway.
Everything...which would include the wires to my oxygen sensor on my car...TWICE!
Here is my list of what I know to be true, lol:
The plants that the rabbits and squirrels didn't eat (some of these are close to the house) were a tiger lily, rosemary, lavender, camellia, African iris, heavenly bamboo, star jasmine, Carolina Jessamine, gardenia, tomato plant, fairy duster, bottle brush, Italian cypress, cactus, snapdragon and Ponderosa pine.
They did eat the marigolds, leaves on a fruitless mulberry tree, Spanish broom, every species of honeysuckle, Mexican bird of Paradise, roses, azalea and Scabiosa.
Tis sad because I had bought most of these plants to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Seems the rabbits and squirrels like the sweetness and the greenery too. 😐
I saw a black bunny sitting in the grass in front of the a house the other day. I thought it was a statue until it moved. And then we had a staring contest... I lost because I had to get back to work.
I don't see so much where I'm at. Mostly birds, finches, woodpeckers, chickadees, chickens. I saw a quail the other day along with an eagle though I didn't see what kind it was. The only mammals besides my own pets was a gopher eating grass on the side of the highway and a bunch of squirrels.

Well, the place I'm at now doesn't have much wildlife - middle of the city, you see. But when I was visiting home, we went to a bunch of reserves which was amazing! Lions, antelopes, rhinos and elephants. It was great.
I saw an angry looking sparrowhawk the other day, and a really beautiful looking peregrine falcon :) falcons are such beautiful animals. I also see wild ponies on a regular basis, as we as wild bunnies, wood pigeons, hedgehogs, sometimes badgers. I live in the countryside in England :)
American wildlife sounds so exotic to me, but I know that things like squirrels and chipmunks are nothing to so many people. I envy Americans for their wildlife.
See, I live in Australia, so the wildlife is either not out much during the day or it's trying to kill me.
The most wildlife I've seen lately has been a possum, some rainbow lorikeets, gallahs, and I was bitten by a spider last week.

Those sparrowhawks look pretty cool!
Never seen a marten before. They look like a cross between a bear and a cat.
The lorikeets look very pretty! Is it true that you guys have spiders as big as a fist? 😮
Depends on the size of your fist. ;) But also yes. They're called Huntsman spiders and they're ugly as all heck, but they're not aggressive towards humans and are actually useful at keeping other spiders away. They also always travel in a male and female pair.

I'm jealous that your birds are so pretty! And that is a cute Totoro-like possum you have there. Our possums are almost terrifying in comparison even though they're silly and mostly harmless.
I've seen some butterflies lately, mostly yellow and black swallowtails. Also a red squirrel carrying a little bundle of red fur. Guess she was moving her baby somewhere.
There was a road trip in my weekend, so I got to see more animals than usual. In addition to the calves, foals and kid goats:

I live a few miles outside of town where I'm from so I see all kinds of things. Deer, turkey, owls, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, all sorts of different birds. We even have a family of raccoons living in a tree in our back yard now.

I mostly see birds when I'm out and about. Easiest thing to spot around here. >w<
Today I saw a pied wagtail. Love these little guys. They are soooo cute and funny to watch. Wagtails are usually spotted running around on the ground; pausing every so often with their long tails bobbing up and down. >w<
They're also pretty bold little birds. One time I saw one outside a supermarket, and couldn't have been more than a couple of feet away when I walked by it. More recently, I was sitting outside a coffee shop in the same area, and there was one running around looking for cake crumbs. IT WAS RUNNING AROUND UNDER MY SEAT! x'D
Also saw a magpie, a gull, two Egyptian geese with goslings (CUTE! >w<), and I think I saw a Eurasian jay too, but I didn't get a close enough look to be certain. Just a brief glimpse as it was flying behind the gull. And I saw some bird remains. D: Maybe something to do with the local peregrines.
Oh and pigeons. So many pigeons... xD
Recently the only wildlife I've really seen have been moose. So many moose. I've never seen so many, they're everywhere this year which is nice. I've also seen a lot of different birds lately.
-Mallards -Geese -Bald eagles
I also found a farm a few towns over that's just covered in cows, which is always fun to drive by with my boyfriend!
