It was made known to me in the SB that the reason they retire stuff in shops like the Menagerie is due to lag. I was unhappy about losing the 2012 section this year because I'll be losing one of my all-time fave minions on site: the .

came up with an idea about sectioning items into separate categories. This happened in the past and then Staff switched to the years tabs instead because of mixing up different years in each category.

Here's my thought:

Why not have categories, and then years within each category?

For example:

Minion category. Within the minion category, you'd see the years and each minion in its own respectable year.

The same would happen for stickers, books, wearables, plushies and beanbags.

The Menagerie would have categories with images for each section. Once you click on the category of your choice, you'll see tabs that show each year and what category-specific items were from each year.

Let's keep working with Minions:

Minion Category

2012 Tab would have all minions from the year 2012 2013 Tab would have all minions from the year 2013 Etc.

This way, it can help items stick around longer, and it wouldn't be so hard on people's computers to have everything open at once.

Additions, changes, etc, are also welcome to this suggestion.

I believe that the way the shops like this are coded now it wouldn't matter how many categories that were set up, it would still be slow. It doesn't load one tab at a time but all of them at once. Dividing the items up into further tabs wouldn't make any difference.

I believe staff want to fix this but it's not a top priority. I feel like it does need to get fixed at some point soon though, while my desktop doesn't have much trouble loading the shops my laptop hates it.

what would fix the lag in the event shops is what is suggested here which Grace said will be done eventually pretty much it's what you suggested too, but things are only tabbed by their year and each tab isn't loaded when you first go to the page.

I wouldn't mind the categories though, I think it would make finding the books that I need to buy easy. sometimes I can miss new books when they're first released so having a "book" category could be nice. I like how the antique shop has things sorted.

I'd rather not break it up into more categories than necessary. By year is enough, they just need to be split into different pages so they don't load all at once (just like the suggestion in that thread linked).

I could get behind sorting more similar to the antique shop (all available plushies/beanbags/books/etc followed by tabs for the available years, the current year being the default) and/or the tabs being separate pages instead. But please don't add more categories within categories; I just find that very confusing and I don't think adding more tabs, no matter how they're organized, is going to reduce lag.

I don't mind having retirements again, personally. I wouldn't mind seeing older items come back at some point as it gets harder to find them available for sP, but I don't think all the items need to be available at all times.

I think it's time to go and retire the 2012 stuff honestly, because it's 2012 stuff. Like come on.
