I just got a mighty curiosity about what the heck these goofy critters are. I know they have something to do with a Survival event of Ye Aulde Days, but that's the extent of what google's letting on.

What are they! Where did the come from! Where did they go! How come Battle Quests lets me punch a wary one! Why can I not make friends with one!?

Anyone who was around back in the Era of the Pylots and can answer these burning questions gets an enthusiastic high five.

like most plot event challengers, they were retired. only the weak one is currently available in bqs just cuz they didn't bring them all back, probably no real solid reason as to why not. has been working with the BAs to hopefully get them back some time soonish as far as I know? if not, I'll keep complaining about it until it happens.

I don't know what the plot was, I wasn't here for it or if I was, I just don't remember it.

According to the Wiki, Pylot is from the 2011 Great Pandemic plot. So there's that! (not that I remember that either, to be honest. it's all lost on me!)

I don't need to make war with the goobers, I just wanna ride one into battle. Change.org petition to let pet a Pylot!

I found a few news articles dating back that far saying they were attacking the Underground and that's all I've turned up so far. The mystery thickens!

I'm pretty sure that's the plot where Skitters wanted to make bros with the humans and Ecks (who I sided with not gonna lie) was an elitist anti-human zomb.

I'm sure that's the right plot...

I doubt they'll ever be pets, though they would be good for a custom overlay

That was the 2012 plot, with Ecks and Skitters - that was my first Pandemic and the pylots were before my time.

Me too, I would have sworn up and down they were part of the Pirates/Islanders plot but that would have been totally wrong too.

I have dug deeper still in the archives and it talks about cupcakes that have morse code on them and the pylots rampaging for no reason other than being excited about being pylots. I can't blame them!

EDIT: Heck yeah, more to the call of taming the pylot. Ride together, die together.

As far as I can remember, Pylot was basically just a really unlucky creature from deep in the Underground that got infected with some sort of disease. You can see how it progressed with each stage, and in the end he (she?) just sort of burned up and decayed. It was like an extreme, zombified version of rabies, and it was really tragic in the end. :( I don't think Ecks or anyone caused it intentionally. (I'm not sure Ecks even showed up until the next year?)

Meanwhile, the SAI was investigating the Pastry Boxes and the morse code pastries inside. Eventually we decoded a message that said "kiss the baker", referring to Fantine. The Baker's Kiss virus didn't come out until the following year, so I think maybe that first year was just Skitters trying to send a Valentine message to Fantine? I might be wrong though.

And then the plot ended with this picture:

I've read up some on the Fantine/Skitters relationship and it's the cutest goddamn thing. Hope those kids are still dating. I'm all in favour of sweet zombies gettin' sweet kisses.

Skitters talked a good line but spent most of the plot totally ignoring Fantine and campaigning and talking and getting involved with Ecks instead. Fantine went unliving for him and did he take it to the next level to meet her halfway by offering a ring? No he didn't
