please do!

(and I'm probably missing people, sorry) I apologize for going quiet there, I had pneumonia and even after the antibiotics treatment was weakened and sickly for a while, but I think I'm finally getting better.

I adore the characters I've seen so far and am currently working on the idea for either a captain or a "captain" who stole the ship and got caught up in playing pretend (a con artist, in other words, with the possible real captain showing up later as a personal subplot since we could all have one of those if we wanted). Details are sketchy thus far, but the con artist would be a dude in his late twenties with the real captain possibly being related to him? An older cousin, perhaps, and a no-nonsense type who took him aboard with misgivings.

I'm glad you're on the mend. I had pneumonia over the new year, and it was miserable.

I like the idea of the con-artist captain, we can slowly figure out he's not legit as the RP goes on. That sounds like it has a lot of potential.

I'm gonna go with Jay, my mechanic. She's a woman in her twenties, but she's usually mistaken for a teenage boy. Her voice is on the rough side, and her ability to lift large machine parts with ease aids in that regard. She'll answer to either gender, and will usually just roll with it. She's not big on appearance or social norms. She'd rather spend her time in the engine room than with people, but won't actively avoid people, as long as the group's small.

She's got an odd sense of humor, and is laid back. She can be pretty awkward, and often has trouble expressing herself with words. She has been known to have a quick temper when it involves someone getting picked on or belittled. That being said, she's not afraid to use one of her tools to beat some sense into you if needed.

I thought Tyven was played by Metropolis.

: All of the characters that I have RP's were anthropomorphic weasels. Sparky Wheezle was my first character and I will not bring him back for any serious RPing for a variety of reasons. Frieda and Weldon can make occasional appearances, but I want to reserve them for more adult, grown up roles, you know, like business-weasels. Frieda's daughter Aya ( named after her godmother Aya, 's character from the Midnight Lamp Days ) was introduced during the last Midnight Lamp RP and I really liked her ability to cast her thoughts and hear the voices of telepathics who sent her their thoughts. She was mute and cute.

My last pair of characters who were associated with Midnight were Milisent and Moishe Rosenberg, a married pair who had a reputation as con artists, but who were actually time-traveling researchers who had gone back in time to research the mysteries of the Midnight Lamps crew.

Donner and Kitcher Wheezle were a very young couple ( teenagers who married quite young ) I wrote for when I played on the Wayward Squirrel two years ago. I have since sent them home to Terra. Everybody loved Kitcher, most hated Donner. For some reason I couldn't seem to show that his heart was big and that he was devoted to Kitcher. Most saw him as a dick who knocked up Kitcher and as soon as she delivered he would abandon her. They have remained married, have had three liters of pups and Donner is making a fantastic living crafting heirloom quality swords.

I haven't decided on who I will play this time around. I'm not feeling creative enough to make up any new characters. It's a toss up between Aya and Milisent and Moishe.

Yes, I am a role-playing character, but I don’t bite (much.)

I changed my UN from Metropolis to Chlorr recently!

But any of those sound fantastic!

I'm glad you think so! I actually whipped up this HA for him, though I might change some details.

And she sounds rad! It'd be fun to have her aboard.

Some specifics about Colette since I've settled on her:

A native of Meneb who left home due to family troubles, namely the death of her brother Andreas in a freak alchemy accident that pushed already strained relations with her parents to their breaking point. After that she wandered from place to place making a living selling potions and various medicines, brews, and components to people who would pay. Occasionally she'd set up in someone's house as a live in alchemist. She avoids putting down roots anywhere due to what she would describe as difficulty connecting with people, and she can come off as cold and blunt. However she avoids being spiteful or actively antagonistic and the truth is she can't help settling eventually into something resembling "chill older sister" regardless of who she's with.

Other notes:

  • is very tall, but also very gangly. Wears long clothing to hide this fact, but usually feels too lazy to do much more than a tank top and work pants.
  • has horns, like some ji-meneb are known for, ducking under doorways is a force of habit for her by now.
  • a very acomplished alchemist, if someone can get her the recipe for a thing, she can probably make them the thing. Keeps a well stocked pantry for special occasions.
  • cannot cook, often mixes up food recipes with alchemy recipes in her head, results usually disastrous and occasionally lethal.

I'm not really sure who I'd whip out. I really love Dace, who was involved in a Wayward Squirrel plot with and some other great team members! Then again, I have an underdeveloped weasel character I created for the first WS event I did, which was a Nutsy's plot. I probably won't use Aya because she has so much history and backstory with other people's characters and I wouldn't want any of that to clog up a new story! :D

I'd like to do 2 characters, a boy and a girl. Harrison and Rose Archer are a brother and sister pair from Atebus. Harry is a navigator. He charts courses for pilots on Atebus, but rarely gets to fly himself. He's very interested in history, and likes to amuse himself by reading. He is a soft spoken man and prefers to keep to himself. He enjoys deep conversation and likes polite company. Despite his nature, he yearns for a little bit of adventure and wants to take Rose off Atebus, as she has gotten into a bit of trouble.

Rose is the self-proclaimed protector of her older brother. Her brother and herself have never had a lot of money, being foster kids. She got herself into an all-girls gang at the age of 12. She is 23 now, and an accomplished thief and knife fighter. She enjoys adventure, and while she would never admit it, she wishes she could enjoy life a little more. She would love to explore new places and maybe get some education. She'd never want to be a lady, but she doesn't want to be a common thug either. Maybe a cat burglar or art thief instead.

Appearance notes- Harry-Thin, bookish, with rectangular framed wire glasses perched on a long nose. Average height of 5'9", with honey brown hair and green eyes. Often staring at something interesting in the distance. Rose- 5'4" with a lean, muscled, acrobatic frame. A heart shaped face with large eyes and doll lips. Perpetually frowning. Black hair and green eyes.

Hey, I'm still down for the RP. Like I said, I'm new, so I'll probably stick to an easy character.

Zelda dwells on the south end of Delphi beach. She owns a small boat known as a cutter and barely spends any time on shore. When she does she's usually caught exploring Subeta's dense forestry or jungle. Through the years Zelda has compiled the perfect set of supplies to accompany her adventures; a scoped rifle, a small steel dagger, a stone mallet, a compass, and a collapsible spy-glass. Her experience has given her skills in ranged combat, foraging and herbalism. The explorer may seem a tad eccentric, but those who know her, she is vivacious and quick-witted with a knack for learning new things.

Other things -dressed in garb, often sandy, muddy or drenched. -very superstitious and will make rash decisions because of it. -selfish, will keep loot to herself -stuck in another era, bull-headed technophobe.

Is it possible that Kai would know Zelda. He lives in Delphi, too xD

Kai Malakai Fausto Kai is an artist currently living in Delphi. His father is a carpenter and owns a furniture making business (Fausto Woodworks) where Kai occasionally helps out. He learned carpentry from his father and a bit of metalsmithing from his uncle. Kai travels a lot as Fausto Woodworks gets clients from all over Subeta. He also likes to travel to find inspiration. Overall, he is very optimistic guy and very outgoing. He is super social and gets comfortable with people quickly, even if they're antisocial and don't speak to him.

I made a ping group for us here if you all want to join.

Pinging everyone who's shown interest thus far - sorry to ping you if you're no longer interested! That will end with this group's creation.

There are forums for the group for characters/planning, hiatuses/absences, and general stuff for whatever you feel like. When we've got character profiles up and running, I'll put the starter in the Roleplaying thread and we can finally get the ball rolling! (Sorry about that again, pneumonia really takes you out of commission for a while, I never intended to leave you all hanging like that!)

Is there a format for our character descriptions that you want us to follow? I will probably post a description and backstory within the next couple of days. I have decided to go with Millicent Rosenberg, Frieda's granddaughter six generations removed, and her mate Moishe, archaeologists specializing in researching the history of the Midnight Lamp and other slavers of Subeta's past.

: I'm going to post my character's backstory and description this evening. I just want to make sure I get it in the correct place. Where is the Character Development forum for this RP?

Millicent and Moishe Rosenberg, Anthropology and Archeology

Millicent Rosenberg is a cute little thing, four foot four inches tall, eighty-eight pounds dripping wet, with deep green alert eyes, long fluffy tail and perky little ears that add an impish intelligence and coquettish flair to her good looks. She can turn heads in her flight suit or in her swim suit and though she is no gorgeous bathing beauty, she had a slender little humanoid figure that is quite pleasant to the eyes. She is pretty for sure, but she has no clue how to go about accentuating her positive attributes. She is more interested in aligning time vortices or greasing the spin bearings on a Halcyon Fighter Pod matter-drive engine then wearing make-up or pretty dresses to show her shape.

Moishe Rosenberg is just as ruggedly handsome as his mate is pretty and just as clueless about being suave and debonair as she is about being stylish. He is content to knock about on his ship in his flight suit as “Milli” is and it is not uncommon for him to fly from job to job dressed only in his skivvies, as long as there aren’t any passengers.

Moishe and Millicent are research scientists who have been contracted by a unknown benefactor who has given them a virtually unlimited grant to locate a rare artifact from an ancient space and seagoing vessel named the Midnight Lamp. They were also given a unlimited amount of time to locate and retrieve the artifact with the instructions that it just might take their entire lifetime in order to be successful. Milli and Moishe are secretive about their assignment which is often misconstrued as being sneaky. at their last destination, they were given the bum's rush off the planet by a government who thought they were vagabond swindlers.

In the first two years of their journey throughout the galaxy, they had maintained a strict professional relationship and kept their attentions firmly focused on their quarry. However, in one particularly harrowing adventure, their craft was attacked by a rival after the same artifact, their ship damaged and drifting and Moishe wounded.

Millicent not only nursed the ship's life-support system back to health, but managed to nurse Moishe back from the brink of death. After a month of being adrift with their supplies getting low, Millicent and a revived Moishe managed to jury-rig the primary propulsion system back online. They set a course for Agricultura23, the nearest friendly planet and engaged the autopilot. After escaping certain death, they realized that could no longer live another day as mere co-workers, confessed their true feelings, and made love for the first time. They said their vows under a makeshift canopy in the galley of their craft, smashed the wedding cup, and took each other as life-mates. The rest of the seven-day journey to port they considered their honeymoon rarely venturing from their berth.

That adventure took place three hundred years in the future, but their search has been ongoing for approximately five years. While they would love to have offspring, Milli has not yet been able to conceive, even though the two work at it nearly every chance they get. It is a source of concern for them, but not a source of contention, they both believe that when the time is right, it will happen, eventually.

Millicent has recently become aware that Lady Frieda Von Steuben is her great grandmother, six generations removed. This fact was made evident when she met Lady Frieda on one of their journeys back in time to interview her about the Midnight Lamp. Frieda instantly recognized Millicent’s necklace as the Trinket, the jewel that is passed from mother to daughter. When the two versions of the same necklace came in close proximity to each other, they began to glow and a small Einstein-Rosen bridge seemed to have appeared between them, sending Frieda’s teacup into another time. Weldon, Frieda’s mate, remarked that the mystery of how that particular cup always seems to materialize in the strangest places half full of warm tea appeared to have been solved. Moishe remarked that the mystery of Frieda’s long life seems to have been solved. At the date of that interview, Lady Frieda and Lieutenant Colonel Weldon were 126 years Terran years old. Needless to say, the Rosenbergs make every effort to not cross the Von Steuben's timeline again so as to avoid any further interactions with the Trinket which could cause a time paradox.

Their craft, a Halcyon 9000 Series Fighter Pod is a vintage model from a very long line of quality space-worthy craft manufactured by the Halcyon Dynasty makers of fine luxury war ships. It is not a small craft like Lady Frieda’s fighter pod “Passion Flower,” a Halcyon 92 Model A, built 450 years previous. But rather, their craft, named “Happy Surprise,” is the size of a royal transport or medium range intergalactic bomber. It is fully automatic, can hold five years of fresh quantum-shrunk provisions in it’s hold, and carries an armament of specialized weaponry capable of destroying ships three times it’s size, which may have been the final outcome of “Surprise's” last attacker. It is also fitted with a Starchild Single-Point E-RB Vortex Generator and Lurking Device, which allows for temporal travel whilst being invisible. All powered by a Starchild Neutron Spin Propulsion Drive.

Surprise’s diminutive crew has recently uncovered a strong lead regarding their quest. News that another large ship might be assembling a team made of people well acquainted with the original Midnight Lamp crew has stoked the fire in Millicent and Moishe’s desire to continue their search for the missing artifact. Surprise has been repaired and refitted, provisioned and her two stalwart lovers are ready to see if the Captain of this new vessel would sign them on. Milli hopes that this ship has an available docking port for Surprise, she would hate to leave their honeymoon quarters behind.

Finally, Moishe and Millicent are not necessarily Jewish, they don’t really know their heritage to be honest. They aren't necessarily religious, but they have a very simple faith in the Maker. Many of their customs, sayings, mannerisms point to a Jewish lineage, but there is no oral or written history one way or another. Both love a good matzo ball and chicken soup, so draw your own conclusions.

So, do we have enough people to get this party started? :) We have (I think) a captain, a few sort-of doctors (alchemists), some sailors, a first mate, a navigator, and a mechanic.

I'm not sure if this is your sort of thing, but come check it out anyway! :)

It looks a little like those who have posted their profiles have started a 'new topic' for their character, rather then just making a post, like I did above. When I get it sorted, I will edit the above post and move it to the appropriate place.
