The Great Hall - Time for some "R and R"

Still sort of full from his first breakfast he settled for a glass of apple cider and a few bits of bacon. He quickly shared some of the bacon with Chase who was swatting at his arm impatiently from Fade's shoulder where he was perched. Quietly he approached the table where a few of his friends were gathered and sat backwards on the bench. "Anyone else staying over break?" He knew the Ravenclaw tower was haunted, and by a very lovely ghost, but he was still wary about spending time up there all alone for the most part.

"Coffee would be good. I'm almost finished packing." She poured herself some coffee and took a long sip.
She greeted Fade () as he joined the rest of them.
"I thought of staying, but I decided on going home. I haven't gotten to see much of my baby sister. She was born during my first term here, so I only got to see her during the last break."
"That sounds like a great time! I'd love ta. I'm worried 'bout being around all these adults." Magnus shook his head. "Sorry mate, but you can come with me if ya want. I know my mum would love 'aving another boy to dote on."
Gaia looked at Fade () "You know if you want you can come over to the farm! We are building a new barn for the owls." Giving Chase some bacon from the plate she was serving herself she also added "and we can go to Diagon Alley and the forest. We have plenty of room in my house!" Gaia beamed turning to Harper () "I need more coffee. One cup is not enough." Gaia smiled "a baby sister! I didn't know that. Congratulations!!!" Gaia went to hug her friend but considered the fresh coffee on her cup. "I'll save the hug for later!" Looking around Gaia wondered where Ethel () was. They needed to discuss their plans for the break.
Harper grinned, "Thanks! Her name is Abigail. Mom says she looks more like dad, but I think she looks more like mom. I'll take some pictures to send to you over break! I'm sure Cormac won't mind getting to see the other owls too."
Harper grabbed a biscuit and nibbled on it.

I think dad is thinking of making it with adjustable temperature for the owls. I am telling you my family has a strange obsession with owls..." Gaia laughed "You are welcome to visit too! It would be nice to have company." ()

Harper stuffed a biscuit in her jacket pocket for later and took another sip of her coffee. She didn't normally drink the stuff, but with it being so cold, the warmth was very welcome.
He must have been better friends with them than he thought, Fade never expected two people to invite him home over the break. Grinning he shrugged. “Now I guess you guys have to fight over me.” (()) As he leaned back onto the table, Chase crawled from his shoulder and began harassing for more bacon. Honestly meeting his friends families would make him terribly nervous. But it was pretty touching that they would even think about bringing him along. All things considered, convincing his mother to let him go would be the hardest part. “Congrats on the sibling . She’ll have a great role model to look up to.” Although Fade thought babies were weird, so long as no one asked him to hold one he was perfectly content to observe from a safe distance.
() "Thank you!" Gaia blushed a little "I didn't do much to it. Usually I charmed the colors and style it before I leave the room, but I was so tired. A neat trick is whenever your hair is not behaving just put a headband, scarf, or bandanna and it is a fashion statement!" Gaia laughed and turned her attention to Chase "Here you go." Giving him a full bacon strip, "I am so not going to fight for you. Chase knows where the party is at!" Laughing Gaia added "But seriously you don't need to stay here you can spend time with both of us at different times. My dad is always excited to have people over and my gran cooks for an army anyways. What I am most excited about is seeing the unicorns. One had a baby and they come to our farm for food and sometimes to spend the night. She was born while I was here and dad named her POP." ( )
"Dad won't be able to come till the last 2 weeks of the break. He works in the Minstry, I know he'd come get me and we can go pick you up. If you'd like. That way you can spend time with Gaia too."

"Pop?! Really? What a weird name. Thanks for the tip, by the way!" She smiled at . "Thanks to you too, Fade. That means a lot!"
She noticed Fade () looked uncomfortable talking about babies, so she didn't bring it up again. Today was about spending some time with her classmates anyways--well, and packing!
() Gaia laughed "Yeap, POP" this time Gaia did a popping sound and added jazz hands "Apparently when dad was helping during the bird the mom, named Lucy, kicked a tree and to make the story short the baby showed up. It seems for some reason Lucy jerked and the movement helped speed the process. She popped out of her. I have to admit my family is quite odd. It wouldn't surprise me if they all had collars with their given names already. It took a lot of work and patience to have the unicorns trust us, but I do get an abudance of unicorn hair for potions!" Gaia laughed while doing jazz hands again.
"I can imagine! I know if I were a unicorn, I'd be hesitant to trust anyone."
Just then, Cormac flew in and landed on Harper's shoulder with a note in his talons. Harper quickly grabbed it and read it. She tutted.
"Mom's checking in to make sure when we'll be arriving at the station. I've told her a few times already, but she always seems to have to quadruple check everything." She made an apologetic face at and scribbled on the back of the note. She handed it back to Cormac, along with an owl treat, and the owl took off again.
() "I know how that goes. Mom is visiting her family in the Caribbean, so it is just me and my dad. I am sure he will be late to pick me up. Besides I am sure your mom is excited to have you back at home!" Gaia beamed watching Cormac flying away.
As much fun as a duel would have been to watch, Fade accepted that it wasn’t going to happen. At least not this time...Unicorns! He had nearly forgotten how close and her family were with the magical creatures. Trying his best to keep his excitement contained and retain some dignity, he only squirmed slightly in his seat when Gaia started talking about a new foal. “That’s actually a great idea.” He looked down at his hands, suddenly sort of bashful about the entire thing. “I mean, if you all are serious about it.” (()) If that were truly the case, he had some serious packing of his own to be doing. He was curious to learn more about his friends, and seeing them with their parents was a practical and probably entertaining way of going about it.
Watching Cormac (()) fly in and out so dutifully made Fade wonder about his choice of pet being a cat. When he looked down he found Chase staring up at him as though the cat could read the boys thoughts of betrayal. Smiling Fade scooped up the cat and gave him a very thorough chin scratching. "You know I love ya, you filthy animal." Chase erupted into a fit of purrs and bumped his head against fade's chin.
() "Well I can have my dad send your mom an owl! Maybe if they talk it will be easier for you to come over! It is going to be exciting some owls are ready to go work and as pets. Others are just babies so we get to train them." Gaia looked around to see if her owl had brought the Daily Prophet yet, but spotted a random owl by a student and walked over. "When you go can you get Unicorn over here? I need him to send a message!" Gaia patted the owl's head and watched him take off.
"I know my folks'll love 'aving you come round, Fade. Mum's already told me to invite me friends 'round. Dad and I could come an' get you at Gaia's. We could get a tour of her place before we leave. If you're 'ouse is connected to the flew network, Gaia, we could arrive that way. Or Dad can side apperate. Chase would love the countryside and he could play with our gnomes. Mind, if you play Quidditch against me mum, she plays dirty." He laughed simling at the idea of his friends meeting his family and spending time with them outside of Hogwarts. He had never had a friend or home to invite one too so it was very exciting to be able to offer. "'Nd we can go to Diagon Ally as soon as we get our supply lists. Want me to 'ave me Dad ask your mum Fade?"

"Fade might even find an owl that he likes and get a new pet owl. I am sure Chase will be able to help in find the perfect match!" Gaia nodded while reaching for her coffee mug again.
"Sure!" he said brightly, "You could come with us and stay at our 'ome. Mum would love 'aving a girl 'round. We've got a fairly large 'ome an' a spare room for ya. Mind the evening of the full moon I'll be indisposed, but Mum and Dad can entertain you lot. I could nip down ta the kitchens and use the flew ta talk to mum and dad if ya want. Make all the arrangements."
