I'm pretty sure they were just referring to the kissing giving her the diseases, since isn't that how the early zombie strains were spread on the site? Of course if you think about the real world it can imply other things, but I don't think they were necessarily aiming for that interpretation.
I like how they kept the fairy tale theme going though ~
I wasn't sure, it's kinda ambiguous and one way could make light of rape.
I really don't think that was their intention though. The original versions of these fairy tales are kind of dark on their own too, but at least the kissing thing was the way I interpreted it when I first read it.
judging how the strains were spread I'm guessing not, but it does sound like it could be the other way I don't care how dark the story telling was, there's no reason we need to have references to rape on here if that's what the intent was o_o
I know, and because it is a little ambiguous it's hard to tell, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. I hope they'd know better than to put something like that anywhere on the site, so I'm assuming they intended it to be the way I described.
idk, they have on the site. it isn't rape related, but something else o_o
sometimes things slide by
it's not as common but definitely something I've encountered.
Oh. I was only aware of it meaning a ghost or something like that, I don't know if they intended that to have a double meaning either, but my guess would be probably not.
I feel like if it were a different double meaning for some other type of minority, it wouldn't fly at all.
Yeah, but I genuinely didn't even know it was used that way by some people, and I can't be the only one. I wouldn't defend it if I knew that was their intention, and I can obviously understand wanting to avoid words that are widespread slang terms or offensive words that most people will only associate with a certain meaning. But I don't know how I feel about saying you can't use a certain word because a small number of people use it to mean something, when (seemingly) to the majority of people it means something else that's not offensive.
I think it's an older term (I believe wiki says it is from the 40s). it's not a very common term used the other way though, most people would say ghost or spirit or some other thing. I just think we're so hyper-sensitive to certain topics here but when there's something comparable to one of those things, but is different because it doesn't affect as many people, it gets disregarded. it's hypocritical.
SURVIVAL IN 2 DAYS
That's true it's not as common, but they were probably going for the alliteration aspect too in the title. Again, I don't think their intention was to be offensive.
Anyway, at this point I'm just waiting for Survival to start ~
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it! I don't know when exactly they'll start it, but it should be soon anyway. They've been leading up to it all week.
Its likely going to start sometime in either the afternoon or evening. It always starts the 14th. I wonder what kind of cool thing will appear this year!!! Last year's voluntary infection program, the year before's organ harvest!!! Ngl I still have a small collection of the vials from 2 years ago
I know, but without much background context it's hard to see any intent. It still doesn't make it right to use that word but prohibit others.
Yeah I was hoping it would start today. Someone mentioned it started last year on sunday so maybe it'll start on sunday this year
It reminded me of the older, darker versions of fairytales. Obviously they meant to tie it into the Underground and zombies, but...well, let's just say on first glance I got another impression entirely. xD Probably assisted by the fact that kbbob and I were talking a bit ago about whether we'd see STD virus strains ever, and...yeah.
I can actually make myself more excited in general by thinking "Survival starts soon!" I really really hope it's today. Really really.
Edit: When it starts someone needs to make a shark thread.
Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing what they do this year. I guess it does usually start on the 14th, I was just hoping they might start it a bit earlier this year to give us an extra weekend. But I guess we'll see, we should still have two weekends anyway if it goes until the end of the month.
