It depends but usually people are clear about it. If it's your friend they'll usually say they'll buy it back if you don't want it. If you buy as an 'outsider' who got a public slot usually you can do whatever you want with it. In the wig's case my friend released it and she said she didn't care if I sold my copy. Always best to ask beforehand though!
