It's complete, sweetie. In fact, the last clue is somewhat redundant.

There are two variations, depending on how you read clue five, and that variation in interpretation is important to realize for later in the plot. But will it help all of you if I tell you there's only one Jorgenson?

Scoring is now up and your total of spendable/redeemable extra clues follows your team name. Please check the thread for correctness.

After some discussion, we decided to give every team credit for the HA portion, and, hopefully, we will be able to resolve the wardrobe issues. (We can show you alternative ways to post, but if you can even make one...)

You also all gained a clue for listing bears for Arabella, and so all her clues will be posted as part of the plot line.

As to the "specials," two teams, Lone Wolf and The PIs, gained for finding the "rarest bear of all," the rarity 300 Spartan Teddy:

As to my Shakespeare HA, you made quite a few guesses, but the dead giveaway was the quote. It's from Act 3, Scene 2 from Merchant of Venice: "Away, then. I am locked in one of them. If you do love me you will find me out." I was indeed Portia.

Chemeriad, Meddlesome Madams, The PIs, Three Furies, Travelers, and Whovians gained a clue for this one.

On a final humorous note, the Subeta censor filter has a sense of humor and a grudge against literary types. It evidently renders Charles Dickens into Charles Richardsens, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would probably not be 'adjusted'." :D

is our team supposed to have 3 instead of 2? Just wondering. Cause we get one for the bears, one for the HA challenge and one for finding the mistake in the logic puzzle.

I haven't included things related to the logic puzzle in the scores yet because it's still open, but I haven't forgotten about you. :D

just wanted to ask was it 25 bonus points and a clue for guessing who you were or was it meant to only be for a clue? In your post asking us to tell you who you were you had mentioned 25 bonus points so not sure if that's including everything.

Thanks to the ambiguous fifth clue, you all get one more day, and one more guess, IF you want it. You may "stand" on what you submitted, and if you do not take another guess and were correct, you will receive TWO clues.

(The panel judge who provided this puzzle will also provide an explanation of the solution. :D)

And Inspector Brie will provide this: "Let's try getting in touch with one of these people. Do you have their numbers?"

Arlington shakes his head. "Not with me, unless..." He rummages in a pocket. "Yes, I have a note from Michelle asking about the new J.D. Robb."

Kandace takes the note and dials. The phone rings six times, and then there is a simple message. "Hi. You've reached Michelle Fong. I'm not in right now, but please leave a message at the tone."

"Young women!" sniffs the Inspector. "How many times do we have to tell them to get a male voice or disguise theirs and to never say they aren't home? Do you know how many crimes happen because of opportunity?"

OH, suspicion confirmed. Ya'll are such tricky ones with words I wasn't sure if we should do the opposite of the little clue given as to a certain last name or take the every so slight clue and run with it. LOL!

On one hand, Nutsy is supposed to be very challenging, more so than Wayward Squirrel. On the other hand, I am not really sadistic, so I think the last puzzle may have been too difficult (no disrespect to the judge who provided it. He does, after all, teach logic.)

Anyway, I made up for the fact that there were "if/thens" which you would have had to run down too long paths, and gave those of you who simply made a swap between last names or a book a clue point. I couldn't do too much for those who were all over the place even after the additional clues. :( The other puzzles won't be this hard, I promise you.

Those who got it received two points, except for team Midnight. They doubled down on their solution which was submitted with no additional clues, and a detailed explanation of how they arrived at the solution. In other words, they nailed it for 4 points. I'm impressed; good choice of "stand."

Points are as follows: Midnight--4

The Golden Trio--2 Chemeriad--2

Fresh Out of Legends--1 The Three Furies--1 Travelers--1 Cosmic Sleuths--1 Lone Wolf--1 Ms. Solo--1

Bonus clue for finding my Oscar error that I made when I chose to use Milo goes to Midnight, The Golden Trio, and Whovians.

Here also is our professor/judge's explanation:

Quote
This was not the most difficult of puzzle structures, but it does fall into the &;hard with variables&; category. I observe that the variables &;did you in,&; as the saying goes.

Problem was as follows:

There are five dedicated lovers of ghost stories (Milo, Jackson, Michelle, and two women named Lucy) each have a different favorite tale including Neil Gaiman&;s The Graveyard Book and Charles Dickens&; A Christmas Carol. One pair of the ghost lovers are twins with the same last name, but the other three are unrelated. If you can figure out the full name of each reader (one is surnamed Jorgenson), and the novel that each loves, you will jog Arlington&;s memory enough to reveal an important clue. (Or maybe two.)

And now the given clues:

1 Michelle is an only child.
2 The two men are unrelated; exactly one of them chose a Dickens novel.
3 The reader (whose first name isn&;t Lucy) who chose Wilkie Collins The Woman in White has the twin.
4 The book chosen by the only reader surnamed Simonovich didn&;t have "the" anywhere in its title.
5 Four of the five readers are Milo, Ms. Jenkins, the only student surnamed Fong, and the one who chose Shirley Jackson&;s The Haunting of Hill House.
6 The fifth reader shares either a first name, last name, or choice of author with the person who chose Charles Dickens&; The Chimes.

Add. clues given: Michelle is Fong, only one Jorgenson.

(Of the above, clues 5&6 are needed to solve successfully, but are hardest to decipher adequately.)

So the solution:

Michelle can&;t be a twin, (Clue 1) and neither can Milo and Jackson (Clue 2), or Lucy/Lucy (Clue 3) so that leaves Milo/Lucy, or Jackson/Lucy.

One of the men likes Dickens (Clue 2) and the other Woman in White (Clue 3.)

From Clue 5, Milo can&;t be Fong, Fong&;s book isn&;t haunting of Hill House, and it isn&;t Ms. Jenkins&; either. Ah, Ms. Jenkins--where did she come from? She must be a Lucy.

Now, since the only reader named Simonovich must have chosen A Christmas Carol,(Clue 4) the male twin must be reading Woman in White. (Clues 2 and 3). So a female must be a fan of Haunting of Hill House. (Clue 5.) Learning Michelle is Fong helps here, since it makes that fan one of the Lucys.

It also makes Jackson the fifth student listed in Clue 6, which leads us to the fact that Milo is the twin to a Lucy, and is reading Woman in White. (Clue 3)

Milo can&;t be Fong, Jorgenson, or Simonovich, he must be Jenkins, along with one Lucy. By default, the other Lucy is Jorgenson, and is a fan of Haunting of Hill House. (Clue 5)

This leaves Michelle Fong with The Chimes, fulfilling Clue 6 with choice of author. That leaves Lucy Jenkins devoted to Graveyard Book.

Thus, in the end:

Michelle Fong-The Chimes
Milo Jenkins-The Woman in White
Lucy Jenkins-The Graveyard Book
Lucy Jorgenson-The Haunting of Hill House
Jackson Simonovich-A Christmas Carol

I hope this explanation is sufficient. I applaud your determined efforts.
