"In that case, I owe you a massive Christmas present.... or a few months of helping in the Care of Magical Creatures class at the very least," Paddy replied with a massive grin. She was very tempted to hug but seeing as she had her paws full of treats, she didn't think it would be wise. Paddy watched as Gaia got the puppy to sit, trying to memorise her hand movements "I have a feeling this will be like trying to learn charms, but a lot more fun"

Casting her eye over the pile of items the shop owner was packing up, she suddenly realised she hadn't got a collar for the puppy. "Think we forgot something," she said as she headed over to the collar display, wondering how to choose the right one.

"You know you don't have to choose just one! I got her the purple leash with sparkling wands if that helps any." Gaia giggled now sitting on the floor playing with the pup and her chew toy. "I can't help you set up your room for her, but I can help you train her and show you what I know about dogs." Gaia beamed it had been a long time since she had a dog.

The group made it into the pet store and then Paddy tripped over a puppy. He asked if she was okay but Gaia was there and taking care of her and helping her adopt the dog. Quietly, he wandered over to the cat stuff and picked up a feather wand and a few small balls for Kippers, along with some treats. Making his purchases, he had come face to face with a griffin. His heart started beating heavily and he walked backwards out of the store, tripping on the last step but thankful no one seemed to have noticed. Maybe it was just too close to the full moon for him and the animal didn't like it... Certainly he couldn't be afraid of it--right?

Hannah rushed with Demeogo to the pet store. They picked up some treats for her cat and their owls. "Hey!" said Caleb following them in. He saw the puppy near the two other students and pretended to howl seeing if the puppy would do the same. Hannah saw a creature she had never seen before, it was called a Cameleon? She saw it change colors and instantly took one out and put it on her hair. She changed her hairs color to blue and surprised saw the cameleon had also changed his colors to blue as well. "Why does it do this?" asked Hannah to anyone near her. "I think it has a little something to do with their moods and light waves on the pigments of their skin." said Caleb giggling seeing it on Hannah's head. "We have to go now if we want to catch up with the others." suggested Demeogo. Hannah got a tank, two cameleons, water dish, a log, food for them and some bedding. "Great another excuse to come here more often!" thought Hannah to herself. She paid for Deme and her things. She knew Deme did not have much on him since he told her one week ago a little nervous to tell her and a little ashamed, but she didn't care about how much he had. Only that she was glad enough to help him with his problem. She knew the only way for him to get more would be from his father and that was already a sensitive subject for him. What Deme didn't know was that Hannah had been spotted with him by his dad and had given her the money already. She didn't tell him though, she just gave him the rest of the money his dad had intended and said it was a late Christmas gift along with some of her own money mixed in when they were off to the next shop. She had forgotten about the it. He was happy that he could now pay for things with his own money now. Caleb followed them out of the shop and offered to help move the trolly Hannah had for her things. She said yes and they were off to the next shop.

Paddy eventually chose a purple collar to match the leash, and a red collar with glittering gold swirls that she thought looked perfectly Gryffindor-like, plus a couple of gifts for her friends. Handing over the money to the shop keeper, she carefully put the collar on her puppy. "Thanks for the help " she grinned, "I'd love to have some help with training when you get a chance." Looking at the weather outside, she paused, "I hope she won't find it too cold out there, or I might end up having to carry her part of the way!"

She caught sight of Magnus () out of the corner of her eye, appearing to have tripped backwards down the last step out of the shop. She wondered if it was something about Hogsmeade that made werewolves trip over things, or if he'd been freaked out by anything in the shop.

"Well she is super fluffy! Do you want a shirt for her? We can always crochet her some!" Gaia handed Paddy the leash she had gotten and turned to the puppy "Thought of a name yet?"

Watching Magnus Gaia added "Are you okay? You seem a little scattered."

"Yeah, sure..." he said with his body shaking a bit. He didn't have anything clever to say.

Beth looked around the pet store. She bought a new toy and some fish for Moony, a book about bats for Lyn and cat treats for some of her friends' cats.

"Hey Magnus! You look like you're catching cold there." Sam said as she left the pet store. "You're shaking like a leaf. Here, share my cloak 'till we get to the next store. It's big enough for half a dozen and wool lined so it's pretty toasty. All this damp..., I don't know how you all avoid getting colds year round here."

Thankful for the excuse, he tucked into her cloak with Sam. This close he could smell a nice scent around her. If he was feeling more his flitatious self, he might have said something about how nice she smelt. Instead, he said, "Thank you." Still trembling, he commented, "I like the rain, 'specailly, the smell. Some times you can smell the ocean in the rain or damp earth, its wonderful." He would try to shake off the sight of that griffin and its stare. "Readin' to the sound o' the rain is also really quite somethin'"

Sam smiled wryly.
"In the desert, when you hear rain..., Run. Flash floods are a nasty business. Still, I hafta agree with you about the smell, and the way everything grows and flowers all at once after a rain is an awesome thing to see. I'm way more used to dryness though. Even the snow is so dry, it blows across the salt-pans like smoke rather than falling straight down like this stuff." Sam chattered on about the desert as they walked to the next shop, mainly to distract herself from how amazing Magnus' eyes looked up close....

"That sounds amazing," he said, green eyes twinkling as he pictured the desert as she described it. "You must really miss it." His shaking subsided and he was content to listen to her chatter. He didn't feel like he needed to say anything either. The griffin seemed less and less important.

"Haven't thought of a name yet - I'll wait until we get back before I decide." Paddy didn't want to openly admit that she was terrible at thinking of suitable names for her pets. She'd had to ask Magnus for ideas for her owl's name, as she was unable to find a name that fitted. Speaking of Magnus, as she looked at him, she realised he wasn't shaking from the cold - there definitely was something that had freaked him out, but Sam had been able to calm him down remarkably quickly.

Looking around the shop, she realised almost everyone else had made their purchases and moved onto the next stop. "We'd better head onto the next shop," she said to Gaia, "I don't want to be the one to blame if Honeydukes have sold out before we get there!" Attaching the leash to her puppy's collar, she held out a treat to encourage the puppy to walk towards the door.

( ) Paddy looked through the window at Gladrags Wizardwear and wondered if the owner would mind her little companion coming in as well. Not wanting to risk the puppy chewing any clothing, she picked her up before walking into the shop. She'd heard about the Ball that would be happening soon, and knew she'd need something decent to wear but she wasn't used to picking out dresses so this could take a while. "Anything catch your eye, Beth?" she asked, looking through the rails of clothing.

Sam sighed, more from the fact that they had reached the next shop, and it appeared to be a clothing store, than actual homesickness. She was about to answer when a wet nose poked her hand. Looking around she saw Paddy, with a large puppy hugged to her chest. "Oh my!" she laughed. "That pup's going to be a titan when he grows into those paws..., they're huge!"

Paddy laughed, "just as long as she can keep up with me running through the forest. She does seem to have a remarkable calming effect. Anything you need to get in this shop, Sam ()?"

"Naw, Not much into the fashion thing." Sam said dismissively "But it's fun to look at the new stuff and try to guess what the next big thing every witch is gonna hafta have will be. So the pup's a she eh? What a cutie. Looks like she's got some Great Pyrenees in her, with all that thick coat and floppy ears."

"They weren't too sure on her breed in the shop, they thought she was part Samoyed, but they couldn't tell me the other part. She still needs a name though, and I'm hopeless at stuff like that." "I'm not really into fashion either," she added, looking at the rails of clothes, "but I guess I'd better look for something to wear at the ball.... don't think it'd be all that good if I turn up wearing jeans and a sweater."
