So am I, but it depends. I told my tattoo artist up front that I was pretty much a wuss when it came to pain so he ended up being a lot more gentle I think than he normally would of been. XD It's also not a huge piece so the entire experience didn't take that long. I think it took 45 minutes to maybe an hour tops from the time I went in store, the tattoo artist designed it and I ended up walking out of the store with the friends that I went in with.
The actual tattoo is roughly about the size of the palm of a medium sized hand or a balled up fist, so it's definitely not a large piece by any means.
The tattoo looks much bigger in the picture! That's good, though - a smaller piece is always easier to start with. My first tattoo was an ankle piece and took about an hour. It wasn't painful at all (maybe fewer nerve endings there, idk). My second was a piece on my other ankle that also took about an hour and was also not super painful. My back piece took a few hours to do and I was hanging in there until about 20 minutes before he finished, at which point I apologized to him for the ugly snot-crying I was doing and told him to keep going while I squeezed my girlfriend's hand. He was super nice about it, though. He let me just sit around for a little while after to rest before we left. I must have been burning a lot of adrenaline, though, because as soon as we got home I crashed, flopped hard on the couch and slept for a few hours lol.
In any case, I'm so glad you had a good experience, and I hope that this first piece has gotten you bitten by the tattoo bug! <3
lol. Yeah, the iphone picture he took of it was a super close up image so it looks a lot bigger than it actually is.
Ouch, I didn't want a tattoo that was huge though I knew someone whose first tattoo was a full arm sleeve which must of taken hours.
It's since healed and the tattoo looks awesome, but I can't imagine sitting through that though.
What a lovely tattoo! I love the reference :)
Hope that works... D: My first tattoo, I got three years ago. Captain America is one of my favorite superheroes & the 1940s is one of the more interesting time periods, in my opinion. And personally, I went through a rough patch in life where my freedom as a person was challenged - so it represents my freedom.
I loved Pan the movie. I love the tattoo. I can't wait to see if there is a sequel. XD
I usually don't like compass tattoos. But, this one I actually REALLY like! ;) Congrats girl! They are very addicting! I bet you are already craving another one, aren't you? ^-^
I have 5 and I still want a ton more! <3
It's a tattoo grill. XD
Ha, Strangely enough, I've never actually seen Pan. I got it modeled after the Disney movie.
Thank you!
I figure if I ever eventually get another tattoo, it'll probably be a quote since I'm in grad school for library science and a quote seems fitting.
