O.K. So what really pushes my buttons is when you have items in your shop that you hope to sell for a pretty profit and other users undercut by RIDICULOUS amounts, thusly devaluing said items. I put up an item yesterday for 59000 and when I went to check and see if it sold today, it was selling for 35000, which is LESS THAN what the NPC shop is selling it for. When I scrolled down to see how it had gotten so devalued SO fast, I saw it be undercut from 59000 to 50000 by one user, than right down to 35300. Now, I understand undercutting to make sure that your item is at the top of the search. We all do it, which is perfectly reasonable, but going down by thousands of SP within the course of a night? I can understand a couple hundred. I can even accept a couple thousand, if the item is over 100k... but is it really necessary to drop an item's value by so much? It's not like it's going to sell any quicker. Most users just go for the first shop on the list regardless. The misconception that dropping a price so drastically will make it sell faster is a common one that I have seen pervade from site to site and destroy the economies of said sites. Does this bother anyone else, or am I the only one getting really steamed over "nothing?"

TLDR: Undercutting by thousands of SP is frustrating to all and is harmful to the Subeta economy. Who else agrees?

If you don't like undercutters, buy up their items and sell them for your price instead. If the item is actually selling for the price you had set, you'll make a killer profit.

This kind of topic shows up in B&C every couple of weeks. There's nothing you can do about undercutters and yeah it can be annoying sometimes but like already said in certain situation you can make good use of it if you are smart. (:

To a certain extent, yes, but I shouldn't have to reward that kind of behavior. And when there's at least 15 of those really underpriced, that's a lot to risk on an item. I don't know if people even realize it when they do it... Lol Nonchalant

Actually, 15 isn't that bad, compared to oh say, over 50. To buy out all of those to attempt to make a profit is just a tad ridiculous.

Lots of things sell for less than the NPC shop price. People sell for what they think they can get for it..., that's just the way it is. Most of the time I guesstimate a price based on the average..., but I rarely spend the time to check other peoples shop prices unless I happen to have been able to afford a GA that month and can autoprice. Of course autopricing has it's risks with the 1sP sneak pricers.

Undercutting is not harmful, actually.

Unless you legit want all items over r55 to sell for millions.

Yeah it's super easy to tell which item you're talking about so you might want to watch out for targeting BUT

You're also not taking into account users with discount cards and/or the shop discount buff. Someone with a 30% discount card and the 15% shop buff can restock that item for ~19.5k. And those items are given out as quest rewards as well. So with people getting them so much cheaper, expecting that to stay priced at 60k is not very realistic :)

I haven't been actually active on Subeta in a while and all I can say is, the more things change the more they stay the same.

If something is legit undercut, buy it up and sell it at the price you've been doing so at. If it isn't, your items were overpriced for the supply and/or demand anyhow and it was inevitable.

Items will only sell for as much as people think they're worth. If they weren't selling before, they probably needed to be undercut. And if it is being undercut by a lot, someone will probably snap it up in a heartbeat, and the prices will go back to what they were again. I never saw why this was a big deal.

But then. I'm a big undercutter. Shrug.

Only thing about undercutting that bothers me is pricing items at 1 sP. I mean, why? You could pawn them for more.

Just my opinion, though.

That's when you buy that shiz up and Frag the crap out of it. It's generally safe to do that with anything that's been undercut to 100sp and under...is good profit.

Every time I autoprice, I use the filters in "edit shop" to view all items priced under 10k to make sure there weren't any stupid low prices in there :) (Of course this would still be time consuming for super big shops... maybe they could just search for items equal to 1sp?)

Value is determined by buyers, not sellers. Just because something is priced high doesn't mean it's worth that much to others. It's shortsighted to say that undercutting a 59k item to 35k is harmful to the Subeta economy. The Subeta economy is harmed by users who don't understand that more sP overall in the system is detrimental.

I just sort my shop by price immediately after autopricing. It won't catch an item under priced from say 1M to 100K, but it will catch stupidly low prices of 1 sp.

For the other problem, I usually scan through before the final submit to autopricer looking for anything with a huge red value - but even for my middling sized shop this can take time.

Undercutting a restockable item by 15k is fine tbh... Undercutting a retired CS item by 5 mill every day is not however. So yeah, undercutting some newly released restockables is not a problem for me, but doing it to some high priced item and thinking anyone will buy them even when undercut is really annoying.

some high priced items simply won't sell at the price they're at (for instance this stupid fish minion I have was priced at 45 mil? no one's gonna pay that for this stupid fish). If I look at an item's price and go "I sure as hell wouldn't pay that for this item" then I'll drop the price to something I would be willing to pay.
