I'm not a big fan of vending (if it weren't for the achievements and Drills I don't think I'd ever vend), but getting rid of it would just lead to the surplus of tokens already in the economy growing much larger. Gotta figure out what to do with the extra tokens first; otherwise, wizard quests would take a quick plunge in value. The uproar over that would probably be deafening. o.O

I don't really understand why people are saying vending isn't worth it though. When I do vend I max them out for the day going for that last achievement tier, and I can't remember the last time I didn't make more from selling my vended items than I would have made selling the tokens outright. Sure, there's plenty of junk in the mix that isn't worth hardly anything, but that's not the case for everything. I still tend to turn a profit over the roughly 850k a day's worth of tokens are selling for right now (roughly 2.5M when maxing out vends for a day).

I used to use ocean depths to pad my wardrobe hoard, (I want that achievement before they retire it too) but most of what I get lately are multiples of old stuff. Wasn't there a weapon or something that you could only get at that machine though?

You can get a from it (at least you used to be able to, but I know there were some changes to the exclusive item vends too - not sure if they affected OD or not). It took me nearly 33k vends to get one though, so it's not something I'd necessarily bet on happening (I'd say at least 25k of those were specifically done at the OD machine).

The idea of vending when you have all those quests is just a bad idea. I get why it was implemented but I mean, there really is no point to it especially nowadays. You don't lose anything due to the way tokens are given out by the wizard, and you flood the market with commons, mundanes and normals that are worth nothing.

I get people want rare profitable stuff for free, but that's what you have the quests for. I think the vending machines could be re-purposed easily though. Increase token vend cost to around 20 and then you could give out rarer items. Kind of like your Halloween CSC machine thing.

Thing is I don't even know how to restock and vending WAS my source of income. I have no clue where the machines stand now as I haven't vended since the change but all I've heard is they are not worth it anymore.

So at this stage the only way I can really earn any sP is through questing and if those get nerfed at that point it's gonna be very hard for me to get anywhere on this site. I really hope vending comes back to the way it was and is at least profitable.

@blackwolf_2009 or you could learn to restock. Vending being "profitable" does nothing but hurt the rest of the site, keeping more effort based playstyles like restocking less profitable and inundating the site with hundreds of thousands of worthless common items that just sit in shops.

If I wanted to learn how to restock I would have been more serious about it before when I first joined. I have tried before. It wound up not being really worth it. By the time stuff had sold it had dropped massively in price.

Vending was a way for me to restock my shop and be able to do other things besides sit here and hope to get a good item from a shop restock. I don't have near the reflexes for it, have 0 idea what to get either. I had to sit with shop search open to find out the good items.

Am I saying vending should be the only available option? No, but there are some who love to vend and I am one of them. Restocking would mean me sitting on this site the whole day in hopes of snagging a few good items.

Nope. The Pawn Shop He gives you 30% of the official price of an item.

i can nearly guarantee things dropped so fast almost solely because of vending. The restocking system is much more intuitive now and is designed so that items will hold they're value and be more profitable. Part of that is lessening the role of vending.

Yeah but I really don't want this to turn out to be a more like neo in the fact that you have to restock to make a profit on here. I get quests do that as well and that is how I make my money but I just prefer vending over all. I may try once again at RSing but I'm gonna need some help on that one majorly. >_< That took like 2 hours to spend 250k for a test run a few years ago.

Still I miss the chance of getting a super rare item this way now and then and I think they should be added in again. But I do agree they should come rare.

It was a thing of fairness to all people who are just super unlucky when it comes to restocking. And it made the vending worthwhile.

Maybe if it was decided to put them in again the limit of chances to vend could be lowered and the occasion one gets them could be really rare.

I can't see how it would be too bad for economy if the chances are limited. Plus it would be a real chance game.

But...that's exactly how it worked before and it was bad for the economy. Offering the chance of super rares in vending machines means people will vend to the limit to get them, flooding the economy with commons.

Limit vends to ten vends per day or something, and that might be a more effective chance game and non-economy depressing solution.

That's why I suggested to limit the chances even more and give fewer tries. I didn't suggest to just change it back to how it was ;)
