James Potter, Slytherin
Throughout the series, James was noted for having many Slytherin traits. Within his group of friends, James was the main schemer. He used his cunning to lead great mischief. Together, he and his friends created the Marauder's Map, which must have taken great resourcefulness, as even Snape, a powerful wizard, was unaware of such magic when he encountered the map in Harry's year. Additionally, James tediously developed his animagus ability, without any help from an actual training program. Later, he became a brave auror, thus illustrating his ambition.
In the series, Harry, James' son, was nearly placed in Slytherin. Whilst this is thought to be a result of Lord Voldemort's curse, I believe that this could have been due his inheriting certain Slytherin traits from his father.
Had James been placed in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor, he could have used his influence to create unity within the house. However, considering how he taunted Snape, he also might have abused his influence and turned toward the dark side.

( That avatar is great! I absolutely agree with your sorting of Lockhart! Your entry is super sweet. That made me tear up a little. Hah.)
🌸Seeking:Your Minerva is really cool! :)
Thank you ^^ (sorry it made you sad :/ wasn't the aim at all!) Your James story is nice, could make a great fanfiction!
Thanks! It was fun getting to make a more old-fashioned HA for one of these contests.
Oh no--it was a very sweet kind of sad (and inspirational)! :) I'm really passionate about HP fanfiction, especially when it surrounds Snape. Your premise would make a great work too. Thank you for the compliment.
🌸Seeking:
“How come you’re not in Ravenclaw?†he [Terry Boot] demanded, staring at Hermione with something close to wonder. “With brains like yours?â€
“Well, the Sorting Hat did seriously consider putting me in Ravenclaw during my Sorting,†said Hermione brightly, “but it decided on Gryffindor in the end.â€
I hope that lets you know just who I chose! LOL! :P I just couldn't resist doing her over as a Ravenclaw! :D
~Wolf Swiftpaw, Gryffindor House

Hey, thank you! I've always thought ole Gilderoy could easily have been in Slytherin rather than Ravenclaw, so of course that immediately sprung to mind when I saw this challenge! And ditto to yours, too - as you so capably explained, a Slytherin James makes a whole load of sense.. and the HA is great as well :D I think there are a lot of transferable/ complementary qualities amongst and between the houses, tbh!
Can you add my current HA to my post please? :)
Though Hagrid is fearless in his protection of animals, I think he was mis-sorted into Gryffindor and should definitely have been in Hufflepuff where: they are just and loyal / Those patient Hufflepuffs are true / And unafraid of toil
Hagrid, as he appeared in 1981, just before he was removed from Hogwarts

So this sort of challenge reminds me how I'm not the world's best HA maker, but I decided to make Dumbledore as if he had been sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor.

I was also heavily considering Slytherin given his cunning and manipulation of individuals in order to bring the final battle at Hogwarts to a close that would defeat Voldemort even if it meant expending some of his closest allies (Snape, Harry) which he used as pawns. I settled on Ravenclaw because of several statements that have been made about his abilities with a wand. I would look up the quote, but I believe while testing Harry (or Ron) it was mentioned that Dumbledore had done things with a wand that had never scarcely been seen before. For this reason (the implication that Dumbledore himself is a prodigy) I thought that the house that values intelligence above all others would have been the logical second choice for the Sorting Hat. Also, I did not age Dumbledore down to what he would have been like at school, and was sad when I could not find the variety I wanted as far as robes, etc. go... shrug Done rambling now I suppose.

Cedric is brave, powerful, and loyal. All of these are qualities displayed in a Gryffindor. Pictured here as the captain of the Gryffindor Quiddich Team.

Nymphadora Tonks Hufflepuff ~ Gryffindor
I chose Nymphadora Tonks and decided to re-sort her into the Gryffindor house. I believe Tonks possessed the fiercely loyal traits of an ideal Gryffindor. Never backing down from a challenge, headstrong, quick witted, and willing to fight for what she believed in. No matter what the consequences may be. Her playfully devious nature would no doubt earn Tonks more detentions than the average Gryffindor. Mostly due to her inability to adhere to the proper “dress code†instead preferring to express herself in any way she could. But with her uncanny ability to make others laugh in the face of adversity, I’m sure the other students would be fast to forgive her a lost point or two.

I did something a little different: Fleur Delacour, from Beauxbatons Academy to Ravenclaw. Hope that's okay!
If Fleur were to go to Hogwarts—despite being incredibly french—I strongly believe that she'd be a Ravenclaw. She's incredibly brave and cunning, yes, but she showed so much intelligence and forethought throughout the tasks that I think she'd be sorted without hesitation. Her skill at charms and nonverbal incantations served her well throughout the series, and I've no doubt that she'd have had a great chance at winning the cup if, y'know, Harry hadn't been in it. She was inventive, independent, and intelligent, and I think she'd make a great Ravenclaw. Plus, I'm confident that skills learned by being in the academic atmosphere of Ravenclaw would give her even more incentive to show off. c:

Just a reminder, this ends tonight!
You might want to change your HA back to Neville!
Tom Marvolo Riddle, Ravenclaw
"Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind."—The Sorting Hat
Even though Tom Riddle possessed many traits of a typical Slytherin, he could have easily been sorted into Ravenclaw. Ravenclaws are known to be competitive and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed even if that means betraying someone you care about. Lord Voldemort killed Snape without a second thought in order to become the owner of the Elder Wand. He was willing to do anything in order to be in the most powerful wizard of all time. Ravenclaws value knowledge. During his time at Hogwarts, Voldemort researched his ancestry and discovered that he was the heir of Slytherin and found the Chamber of Secrets. He wanted to know everything about his heritage. He was very a curious student and would try learn to learn more complex magic than the magic that was taught at Hogwarts.
Beth Hale Ravenclaw
In my opinion Ron Weasley showed several traits of a Slytherin. He was frequently jealous of Harry's abilities and the attention he received while at Hogwarts. He began playing quidditch for the glory of it and dated/smooched girls who adored him while behaving meanly towards those who were more succesful. He was competetive for selfish reasons for much of his time at Hogwarts. He always came through for his friends in the end, but Ron was often driven by ambition, rather than courage.
I like to think of this version of him as "Slytheron".
Lapis Lazuli - Ravenclaw

Thank you for the heads up, i thought i saved it properly and put it in my post but i guess not hehe I am neville again!

What might have happened if Harry didn't wish so hard not to be in Slytherin? Well, I suppose this might have!

I couldn't figure out how to change my base easily so apologies for Harry's slightly girlish figure!
