Congrats! Tomes are usually the cheapest way to build intelligence (as well as your other stats). And the cheapest way to get tomes is by turning in mage amulets to the Mage in Shadowglen. Just try not to go overboard because using too many of them will cause your level to skyrocket, which affects training times and prices.

If you haven't already, you can create an account on SubetaLodge to use the checklists tool and see which books your pet still needs to read. You can even sort them by price to buy the cheapest books first. Best of luck :D
