- According to that wiki article US schools were qualifying pizza as a vegetable -_-; here That is just so sad and unhealthy.
I had a quick look and we don't have a potato item, I mean just a raw potato. We have one on a string, a plushie, a pirate and even a super awesome one but no regular potato.
If you've ever seen an eggplant grow, the fruits spend a long time looking like an egg before they up and decide to lengthen out.
the first time i saw a white eggplant in real life happened some 3 or 4 years ago. When i saw it for the first time in the supermarket my eyes popped out like in those old school cartoons, hahaha I have yet to buy and eat one of those. compared to the purple one we all know, the white ones i saw were shorter and rounder. it looked more like an ostrich egg if you ever saw one, but not as heavy.
first of all, i never saw anyone eating raw eggplants, so i don't recommend raw consumption. :/ second of all, it is best to remove the peel before eating it because it is a rather tough peel, and not even frying or boiling makes it softer. :/ in romania we eat it cooked in 3 different ways, but only one of them i find tastier than the other. So, method one, and tastiest: we bake it whole, peel it, then mash it and mix it with some salt, oil [about a cup? added gradually], and chopped onion [i skip it because it is bad for me]. method 2: sliced and fried in egg batter, until light brown and soft method 3: diced and cooked like almost any other vegetable. it is best if you mix it with zucchini, some rice, and maybe other vegetables and some tomato sauce. It absorbs a lot of oil while cooking so it can be rather gross if you are not used to it. you might want to eat with more onion/ garlic/ or even mustard to make it less gross. the grossness comes from the oil. I can't say it has a specific taste.
