I already joined Nutsy as soon as you mentioned it some days ago! :-) Looking forward to it! <3

that sounds perfect :D All I need is to figure out when the full moon will be (and bring some ketchup), and that sounds like it'll be an idyllic WS4! :D
nods if only we could convince Larianne ;)
oh my, I'll have to visit your tribe and get some cookery tips from them I think! Paddy certainly never realised that rats could be such a delicacy!

: I understand, that makes perfect sense and I can appreciate that.
: Oh yes, cuisine is very important in my tribe and in our community as a whole. You are welcome to come and visit any time. Our community is diverse, and cultural exchange is encouraged. You will be my guest of honor at Healer Hall.

Oooh Girlie you outdid yourself this year! As a die hard Firefly/Serenity fan I enjoyed every bit of the story line. It was so much fun finding places in our RP to plug in lines from the movie and series. Our team had a lot of obstacles this year, including our best battle Rp writer was out of commission for most of this, but we some how pulled it all together and got it finished. Real life really kicked all of my teams butts this time around but hopefully we will all be back in full force for next years adventure. I know it has to end some time but the ending every year always catches me by surprise. So looking forward to next years adventure!
I'm hoping next year that Larianne finally gets a clue and quits acting like a spoiled pouty baby. More Tanaka next year? Hot Damn! He is so fine and deserves to find his happy ever after. He's earned it. Enjoying his ''ninja skills'' so much! he's easy on the eyes as well Thinking I'm gonna have Laurie study up on those type of skills for next year. Back to Crystania! Whoop!
Now... when can I get back to Squirrely and the Off time saloon???????
Life is short... Count your Blessings, Love your family and friends and lend a helping hand whenever you can!

Love love loveeed WS3, and I'm already looking forward to WS4 (Who is the girl in the crystal? and will Lappy be revived?) :D Also excited for Nutsy, which i just joined c:
just as long as there's not any ladders to climb - Paddy is still a bit shaken from being that far off the ground in the last battle :P

Thank you for yet another wonderful event ❤️
I just love reading every bit of the story you give us, the way you build up and you make the characters, it's amazing! The ending of the story was sad though, Larianne has been through so much during the last two WS events, that I really really hope that she will end up happy in WS4 (with Tanaka and Lappy xD) I enjoyed the challenges we were given. I think there was a little bit of everything this year with a couple of easier puzzles and a couple of harder puzzles, the HA challenges, the battling, the writing. I simply loved it ❤️ I also have to say that I think I had a wonderful team this year :D
I am glad though that I read your post about the vehicles, as I didn't enjoy that chapter as much as the others, maybe because of the problems we encounted because of it lol, but still I had lots of fun and that's the most important thing :D
So thank you so much for hosting this and I personally can't wait for Nutsy and WS4, especially since WS4 will be in Crystania (which means more Tanaka! xD) :D
, thanks for all your hard work! I will always feel more comfortable in medieval RP but it was still fun to play this round up until the end and POOR LAPPY! :( hopes they can bring Lappy back in WS4 My group was the greatest this time which also made it very enjoyable.
Can we have a WS4 soon? decides might as well dream the impossible now I don't want it to end.
I'm sorry but must decline the Squirrel puzzles.. am not too good in that department.
Aw, man! You made me cry! I legit cried when I read the end - good old Lappy, and poor Larianne! I just wanna cuddle her, and then Tanaka because he tries so hard to be nice but also do the right thing.
I agree with and you on that I love roleplay that is not battle much more than fighting. It is so hard to bring everybody in, and yadda yadda you know all the reasons. I do also agree though that three battles are not too much for an adventure, especially when they are not made to be (or seem to be) the lynchpin of the whole thing. I personally did especially enjoy the individual missions! I loved the secret missions last year as well - it's really nice to have some opportunity to concentrate on your character and for all classes to shine. So, I'm super happy to hear that next year's combat will go that direction.
If I may, I'll comment on one other thing. I felt that this year, when you didn't get a bonus or other teams got a lot of bonus, it was relatively difficult to earn points to bring you back up. I do suspect myself of being biased here - we didn't make a bonus in several chapters in a row, and we may be an especially slow group of people as we didn't find a single easter egg that several other teams seem to find with ease. But it did lead to a moment in chapter 8 or 9, I think, of me thinking "oh whatever, we'll be in the last three anyway" which was only fueled by team dropouts and the like. (Which admittedly don't have to do anything with the issue I'm talking about, but it wasn't helping.) So it might be I'm just being bitter, but I honestly don't know, so I thought I might just tell you and if you can make something out of it, good. Btw, that half-enthusiasm moment was not about that I wasn't having fun writing or creating. It was simply the point at which I shut off any sense of competition because it didn't seem to have a purpose for me anymore. The fun though was unaffected. ;)
I do have some more feedback on specific parts of this year's WS and I'd looove to talk about it, but I gotta go for today, I'm meeting some old friends ^^ For now, thank you for another fun and special adventure, and for your big heart, spirit, work and enthusiasm! I'm still loving it and I'm overjoyed to hear we'll come back next year.
yoooooo let's do Nutsy's together!
ok so, I admit it, I don't pay the most attention in the world, but what was wrong with the vehicles? I mean, besides a couple being mis-categorized, I thought they all looked pretty spiffy and sweet :) Some of them were WOW. That one with the blueprint comes to mind, love that so much course I won't object to that bit not reappearing lol, I am just nosey. Curious, I mean curious
crumbles up the map to the location of the willow and eats it!
there, no trace remains!!!
I'll be looking forward to what you come up with in WS4, this one was a bit stressful but ALOT of fun :D
shame about Lappy though... I hate it when it's the poor dog that bites it ;u;
kill the cat instead, they're Satan's spawn anyway but dogs should never be harmed :(
I hope I will be able to play again in W4. Some events were beyond my scope but I really enjoyed playing with my teammates It was fun!
I enjoyed this event this year as much as I have enjoyed all of the previous years. While the vehicles are buried for good, I would definitely enjoy more math/puzzles lol. :D Your creativity and vision always amaze me. To put on an event with so many different people---I don't know how you do it.
I am crying tears of joy for the setting of WS4. As much as I love Firefly, my mage and I were SO lost as for what to do with ourselves amongst all this technology! xD
NO VEHICLES, HUZZAH! Thank you so much for an amazing event, as always. ♥ Your patience is never-ending, I don't know how you do it. You're a goddess.
Firstly, thank you for putting this on. It was fun and a very interesting mix for an rp! I found the whole thing very fun and the battle rp was a challenge but a very entertaining one. I think it helped teams streamline their rp and find new ways to meet the challenge. One thing I was wondering about are the puzzles. Now I know a lot of players enjoy testing their brains with your mind breaking puzzles. I know I'm not one of them but the puzzle lovers should have their fun. I was wondering if maybe it would be worth doing two puzzle sets. The current level of puzzles for the chapter points and maybe an easier one for some bonus points. Not many, maybe 10 or so. But just something a little easier to encourage those who aren't really puzzle masters. A little encouragement might help sooth those who struggle. I can see why you want to leave the vehicles out next time though. It did get rather tricky to class them and keep track of who was using what. They were great fun though! Will Larianne show for WS4? Also, if our character were to ask her if she's okay or offer comfort, would they get a reaction or is Larianne under the "Leave well alone" category?
: No there are no ladders, Healer's Hall is a massive stone edifice and even though it is three stories tall, my apartment is on the ground floor overlooking a private sunny garden in the back. We can go out and pick grapes, tomatoes, squash, carrots, beets and peppers and Weldon will something yummy.
: I thought there were four battles...Doom Slime Fog Monsters, Seelie Forest Unholy Nasties, Unseelie Maze Weirdsmobile Demons, and the Satanic Death Dragon Ship Thingies. I could just be paranoid about it though.... (shudder )
: Thank you so much for hosting this event, even though I was lost at times it was alot of fun to dig my way out. Cant wait for the start of WS 4.
im waiting for the Wayward Squirell adventure book!!
I started out to address all the comments and thoughts individually, and then saw how many overlapped, and decided a full post was probably best, so here goes.
First of all, Thank you so much to all the folks who give me strokes for this! I do take the criticisms to heart, and try to fix what I can, but the love keeps me wanting to do it again. Without you, there would not be a "next" WS. Nobody would put this much time and effort into such a large undertaking if he or she didn't know that those on the other end were having a great time! That's the whole purpose: to create a canvas where my Subeta friends can play and be happy! If you have a good time, I've succeeded.
Next, the things that didn't work.
Vehicles: Yes, the vehicle designs were gorgeous and uber-creative, which means that Hayao needs to hold a "design contest" somewhere in WS4 (plot related, of course.) USING the vehicles--well, my smail groaned with complaints, so those of you who hated them were in good and huge company. I'm so glad Hamda burned that map and that the willow shall weep in private.
Tactical Battles: This was a somewhat mixed bag, as the battle folks were thrilled, some who weren't but wrote killer RPs were gratified at their own new prowess, and others wanted to tear out their hair. So, they can't and won't go away. However, the tactical ones will probably be reserved for class-related missions. Getting through the Darkfog to anchor the ship was much more of a "problem-solve" than an actual battle, and that sort of thing would be the closest we would get. (It was much like getting through the sewers in WS2.) Overall, the tacticals aren't the best for a full group.
Moving on to the things that probably won't change much:
Puzzles: There are just a LOT of my players who thrive on these, and I can't make anything that's too challenging for them, so for those of you frustrated, there are a couple of options. The first is to let your team members who can do these take care of them. The second is to play in Traveler mode, where you don't need to solve the puzzle, or, if there are two puzzles, you just solve the easy one. However, those in the "relaxed" Traveler mode were very energetic and solved all of the chapters, or folded themselves into Adventuring teams, or in one case, bailed completely.
In addition, the whole Traveler idea was made less necessary by my own decision to make chapter challenges one week instead of four days. This made a huge difference and virtually eliminated the whiners who started each challenge by asking for more time. I had very few extension requests, and each and every one was legitimate and necessary, and was for no more than one day. This leads me to a possible compromise: Let Traveler become the "puzzles and class missions optional mode," which you can pick and choose what you want to take on, and let each chapter have two puzzles, one "easy" and one "challenging." The Adventurer teams will do both and fulfill all challenges, because easy for them is really that--dead easy.
Next on the "necessary evils:" Rankers/Tiebreakers. These are always the killer, and WS1 had trivia, which, in the end, disbalanced team placements big time, and got me some really nasty notes. It was right up there with vehicles as a disaster.
Right now, the bonuses work as well as any "shaker" can, and they are by far the fairest. They can, and do, change with every chapter, especially the HA ones. Basically, they make teams who really want them "up their game," but doesn't any competitive event demand as much from the winners?
The downside of this is that some players may feel discouraged, but there's very little to lose here. The Prize Gallery is always stuffed with a huge amount of things folks want, so the order of prize picking matters, but certainly not enough to make anyone unhappy. I often award duplicates if I have the prizes myself, too. For example, if two folks really want a LairBear, and there's only one in the gallery, chances are extremely good I'll grab another from my shop. I've done it a lot!
In the end, we have to have some sort of way to select ranks for players. In the Olympics, it's time; in WS, it's bonuses.
Now, in WS4:
Lappy: As I've said and said again, you can't die. You might get turned to stone, but you can't die. And, if it goes for you, it goes even more for dogs. I also hate books and movies that kill the dog, so....let just wait for the Epilogue that will go up later tonight and then for WS4.
Larianne: Yes, she has had a hard time of it, AND she's also been brought forward in a rush from a very naive sixteen-going-on-seventeen to a twenty year old woman. Makes for a bit of a pouty brat. She needs an emotional boost, which in this case is a very firm Faerie Godmother. Read the Epilogue.
Tanaka: Rejoice, Tanakashippers, he's going nowhere. My smail groaned with responses and suggestions for him as well, but happy groans this time. (sings chorus of "He's So Fine) So we will know and learn more about that girl in the crystal, and all sorts of mysteries and histories. Wolfenhague is just the tip of the Crystanian iceberg. (Werewolves, Warlords, and Whatevers!) Get Magikal and Steampunky!
(PS: Kelian's not going anywhere, either, except after Larianne.
PPS: As to a book, my RL readers and fans want the sequel to Blood of Ancients, so it's not too likely right now, but maybe someday. :D)
Hope this covers everything. If it doesn't, ask or comment!
